coolieo..i'll let the other grammer nazis pick on you about your use of tense and voice, but of course we both know the army has no clue when it comes to proper writing forms.. sounds like you've been doing many great things...might need to add a few buzz words...mission essential capabilities, fine american, executed for success etc... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

packing everything shouldnt take more than a day..so say Wed for all those tasks..maybe a day and a 1/2 if you get preoccupied with any one thing.. so that puts you at Thurs noonish.. jump thurs, fri and sat..hail and farewells on sun then off you go...plenty of time...

the in tracking dive that Casch mentioned we landed nearly 3 miles off the DZ... of course we got out last and two of us turned away to land in the big easy field rather than try to make it back over the heavy forest areas but we still covered something near 2 miles tracking distance without really tracking hard. unfortunately in the wrong direction....should remember to look down on occasion and check the spot no matter how much fun your currently having... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i think that really really calls for the wammbulance... of course the cure for any "stuck song syndrome" is to sing a few bars of "Werewolves of london." It will drive the offending song off and only remain while the moon is in the sky... try it if you doubt... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

why bother wasting your time and energy worrying about useless words in the ether...if said persons opinion means so little to you why do you give it more time and weight by drawing further attention to it?? simply flame the hell out of them, let them know exactly how you feel, then delete it and forget about it, or skip the flame completely and continue on your way......its simply words in the ether and only has the significance you give it..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

kinda depends on what your looking for...everything i do seems to be completely functionally oriented (GUI controls for the majority of our system software) or completely esoteric... but i'm about to have more spare time than i care to since there isnt anything to do after work in the middle of the really big sand.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

nice idea, but other than collecting more accounts of "failed landings" your not getting any effective data on the incidence of landing injuries, unless you also ask people to post all the landings that they made successfully.. 1. What happend : improper flare on a "new to me" canopy I pulled high (5k) but didnt really practice finding the flare point at altitude, I just flew it like the last 30 or so jumps. and pounded in on flare without even attempting a PLF. 2. Canopy : Sabre II 190 3. Wingload : approx 1.1 4. Experience (canopys): several navigators & larger 200+ Spectres pre-A license 5. Number of jumps: 35 6. Damage done: fractured one ankle and sprained the other 7. Cost: 60$ to me in co=pay for office/therapy visits approx $2000 in total med bills 8. Down time: 3 weeks ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i've consistantly heard 1 jump @ Eloy = 2 else where and/or 1 season = 2 elsewhere, simply because of the potential damage from sand and sun..however that doesnt mean its exact in all circumstances for most canopies..... I agree give someone else a deal on it...if its not doing you any good might as well let someone else play with it...i'm not flying my sabre anymore, but i couldnt bear to let her collect dust while the season lasts, so theres a Biscuit with it on her back now... pay it forward.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

havent met the rest yet, but i have to say MissMae is certainly not your 'common' female type... there may be more out there (i certainly hope so, since shes taken) but the difference in attitude is striking and rare... maybe thats another reason to love the sky..the overall attitude is much better there than with those who always walk the earth ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
agreed however he writes for himself and for other musicians, and many of the things that make Satriani great are also the things that will seperate him from public opinion. as Q pointed out its difficult to define 'greatest'. Best chops? best soloist? best melodic composition in support of the chorus? best sound? etc.. what leave Satch out of the listed group is his body of work..how much of his music catches the hearts and minds of the majority of the listening public? how many listeners on the street could even name a single tune by Satriani? (because recognition is all that really matters in such lists, not technical ability) and who could possiblly create such a list without Carlos Santana? or Gary Moore? John Sykes? Al Dimeiola? Tommy Bolan? if its not popular (in this 15 min) it doesnt count remember... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

with any 'classically trained musician' the question isnt 'how well they play' as they all play very very well and quite similarly since they are supposed to be recreating the composers work, but instead "how well do you improvise"? playing other peoples music is one thing. writing, playing your own music, or interpreting and reinventing a song with your own stylistic influences is the difference between an artist and a craftsman. always neat to have 'classical students' come sit in with the jazz ensemble..." what do you mean we play another 8 bars if the lead trumpet is facing right??? follow the what?? where's the sheet music for that last bit you guys just did? i didnt see that change in my notes.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

true (and farther off topic) i completely agree about being 'in the moment' but you will still miss high speed close in actions without a mechanical assist. Boxing is another great example, the Ali shot wasnt exactly 'time critical' as it was a relatively slow, gloating action….now try to catch the instant his glove makes contact with his opponents face with only the twitch of his shoulder (if that) to signal the start of the punch..sure its been done, but how many times was it missed before the one 'good' shot? absolutely you have to be there and ready to capture the moment but the millisecond of time where some actions occur is near impossible to catch consistently with motor drives, at Olympic/professional levels getting that instant of contact for example before the parry knocks the blade aside is largely luck..the skill is being in the right place and ready to shoot, even if you take 9 shots to get the one your really after... its all a matter of the right tools for the right task.. that WFFC photo is awesome... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

unfortunately, while the critical thought method is taught at most institutions of higher learning, the people it is taught to are not really interested in learning to think for themselves so much as having someone tell them the 'proper answers'. In that environment their previously held beliefs and ideas are often shown to be derivative and insubstantial, and so instead of searching for their own answers they adopt the current 'social-political flavor of the month' without applying the same critical thought that led them to discard their original 'indoctrination'. Its amazing the number of stupid college activist types who cant defend their new found cause any better than they could defend their previously 'fascist' ways... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

I guess you haven't been paying much attention to how things are being done in Washington these days. there are lots of ways to herd sheep, fear is the method of choice in the current environment. Keep them frightened and they will agree to whatever you wish them too... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

ok how about you open a confirmed email attachement only to find out its not what you thought it was?? think it doesnt happen? attachments are easy to replace.. we do educate users, they are simply to lazy to follow the instructions, of course in the military you can be charged for such negligence, so i dont often have that problem with my users.. you might not believe it, but it IS luck if your machine hasnt been noticed by a malevolent hacker...and you have no way to control that at all, all you can do is make it harder to exploit. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i'm often amazed at the ignorance of the sheep around...as if its difficult to google for the real characters you want so your tattoo artist doenst put "i'm an ignorant gaigen who has no idea what this means".. i know of at least one tattoo chain in FL that has a row of these for all the fools who come in and say "thats pretty what does it mean?" and then have it permanently etched on their skin. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

just pray you dont attract the attention of a bored hacker then. by posting exactly how vulnerable your computer is on a web forum..yet another brilliant idea from the description of your machine your a perfect target to put any number of 'outdated' viruses on your system, and there by spam your entire address book with viruses they were smart enough to be protected against, some of which will ensure you wont get anyting useful off your harddrive before they are done... it isnt simply a matter of YOU doing or not doing something stupid to infect yourself, your creating a lovely opportunity for someone else to exploit, the fact that it hasnt been already (or you havent detected it occurring) is simple luck.. but hey you can go have unprotected sex with 'people you trust' too, your still taking stupid risks that are easily prevented by keeping up to date with any number of free virus scanners.. your right in one regard, anti-virus software only protects you to the extent you use it and use it wisely, but i guess the idea of redundant protections means nothing to you...hope you back your data up often at least.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
