only if your path is a circle in the first place... if your doing say, a downwind, base, and final, each time you 'turn the corner' you get closer to your destination... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

broke my right femur.. i'm not jumping till i have full range of motion (nearly there) and can run 2 miles with light (or no) pain... If my leg can take that level of impact it should be able to handle a hard landing if i have to PLF... of course i am going to retrain my PLF so my left side roll is more instictive now.... when i get back I'll jump my gear (stilletto @1.4ish) I know how it flies, flares and lands, and why/how i broke myself in the first place.. I'd much rather have gear that I know and I know fits me than add more variables into the equation when i am getting current again... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

very wrong.. Go is a fundamental strategy game.... simply from the number of military types about (not to mention the overall cultural diversity) i think there will be quite a few people who have played... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

of course it is best to never regret anything at all, but that is a very difficult state to achieve and maintain.. particularly if your attracted to risk... so? my vote is for something you did, even if it turns out badly you can still learn from it. If you never tried it at all you may spend the rest of your life dreaming about the chance you missed.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

sort of depends on what your doing, what your 'goals' are in life.... i have several friends who just left on a rafting trip thru South America... none of them has life or health insurance (that will cover them there), 401k's or anything in 'savings', they are pretty much carrying everything they own, everything of real value to them, with them. They work to pay for the way they wish to live and equipment necessary to do so without much concern for tomorrow (other than how far downriver they expect to be) it will find you no matter what you do... several of the 'weekend warriors' have stated they wished they could go and do something like that....what is stupid is that THEY ALL COULD, except they are afraid of what might happen and worried about being able to return to their quiet 9-5 jobs if they 'cutaway' to experience life outside of the box they have created for themselves... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Just like your weak arguments don't satnd and you have to packpeddle? Im over it and over you and your pathetic claims. Have a nice life. believe me i do... Care to provide any substance to back your baseless assertions?? still No... imagine that... You've said that several times now...lots of repetition, with no facts... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Gee I mention that I am saving like crazy...And you say that it would be stupid to die with a million in the bank....your right I don't know how I could see that as being directed at me...That and your history of attacking about anything I say... Funny you telling me to check MY ego...Sheesh history of attacking you?? Now your ego is really getting in the way of your vision.. when you present weak arguments they do get torn to pieces. You might take that personally, but no one is attacking you…... no one has any guarantee they will see the sun rise tomorrow...Everyone can only count on experiencing life today... anyone that dies with a million in the bank having spent a life time saving 'just in case' and never left their couch 'just in case' may not be stupid per se, but they certainly didn’t avail themselves of many opportunities because they were too worried about what ‘might happen’ tomorrow...a tomorrow they have no guarantee of seeing even if they do stay 'safe and secure' on the couch...- geee i guess i should make everything nice and generic so there is no possible way it could be interpreted as relating directly to you and you only.... sheesh.... get over it.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Gee why am I surprised you would disagree with me???? Oh, cause its you.... Well lets see you must have missed the part about me making 300 jumps a year for the past 11 years. Placeing in the Top 10 in Open at the nationals twice (only been twice) Demos into Stadiums..ect. I also drive a Mustang GT. Have a pilots liscense and about 10 hours of Arco time. Master rated SCUBA diver with well over 300 dives (and some really cool cave dives) So much for never having lived or taken chances huh? I'm just not stupid about it and have a future as well. But of course you will disagree....Im not surprized. rotflmao.... amazing how you took that so personally.....check the ego, it's useless.. what could you have done, what things might you have experienced if you didnt worry about the events you have little control over (the future) and focused instead on what you can do today? Having kids certainly changes the picture (the primary reason i dont have them) but if you are only responsible for yourself, why spend so much of your life energy focused on the parts you may not get to, when it deprives you of experiences you could have today? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Hmm nice site, Cops i can see the nature of their job means they will likely be inside that close range distance even before violence occurs...this is a tactical error, but one they must make because their job is not combat, it is law enforcement. Also their standard arm doesn’t have range significantly greater than that distance to begin with….they have to get that close to take out their targets. Do you think we should be using statistics related to close quarter combat (with pistols) to determine what the requirements are for a line infantryman's primary weapon? fire suppression (volume) vs accuracy has been military doctrine for a while now... its not applicable to all situations, but taking 20 rounds to kill your opponent isnt a negative, if in doing so you prevent your opponent from firing (his possibly more accurate weapon) back.. its a numbers game, but the numbers can change in any given environment.... weapons and systems we developed to fight the cold war enemy aren’t as effective against a smaller terrorist threat. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

this i don’t understand... it is a movie, a form of entertainment, why would you not want to see it? have you seen any of his other movies? did you enjoy them? now because someone hints there might be some political subtext in his latest you don’t want to see it? not directed at you particularly why are people reluctant to challenge (or have challenged) the things they believe? If the artist (writer) does their job well, the 'messages' are subtle, hidden beneath the more immediate concerns of story, plot and character.....the deeper intentions, suggestions etc, don’t have to hit you over the head with the lead pipe of social commentary… ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

you have no guarantee you have a future, or that you'll even live thru today... some people would claim it is equally ‘stupid’ to plan and save for an event you have no idea if you’ll be there for.... being dead with 1 million in savings and good health insurance doesn’t mean a whole lot, particularly if you spent your life on the couch, have never been anywhere, done anything or taken any real chances.... living NOW is the only 'smart' option. NOW is the only thing you can count on experiencing...Its far better to regret something you did than something you didn’t (and now will never) do. One of them you can learn from, the other you can only dream about... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Most battles are 3-7 meters. Long range is not needed. More bullets is good since most spray and pray anyway. i'd love to see a source for that statement, it certainly doenst apply to most battles and i have a hard time believing it even applies to most light infantry engagements. If you are fighting that close, someone really screwed up to begin with.... timing and distance are the two primary factors in any conflict. 3-7 meters completely gives away the advatages of distance.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

As are yours. Thats a matter of opinion. I can back my definition up, lets see you defend your opinion logically. Got some substance to back up either of these assertions?? until you can, how about you stop making them?? Show me where my definition has changed and I’ll buy all you all the beer you can drink this year.. you cant, because I have never backpedaled.. you are missing the defining characteristics of 'independent' (does not rely on another life form for fundamental biological functions). Perhaps you should have listed them (as i suggested) to become more aware of what is being discussed. Children have legal status long before they reach 18 and are considered 'adults'. The discussion is to determine at what point a 'fetus' becomes a ‘child’ to be granted that status. is a third term baby capable of living outside the womb without heroic medical measures that replicate the womb environment?? Give up if you wish, you have yet to provide any logical reasoning against the definition, but you've done a good job with distractors and irrelevant issues, all without addressing the real point.. My definition hasn’t 'failed' or even been refuted in any logical manner ("i dont believe that" doenst count) anywhere in the discussion, and it is not an 'opinion'. Perhaps some research is warranted? I suggest you start with 'opinion & definitions” and spend some time getting reacquainted (I’m assuming it was taught in school at some point) with the “scientific method" and how it is used to create definitions, and how it can be applied to almost any subject objectively. It would make discussions such as this soooooo much easier… sometimes its almost like we are speaking completely different languages, but the words somehow sound the same.. 1st you argue how I'm trying to define 'life', showing you failed to grasp the true nature of the discussion in the first place, and now seem completely unwilling to go back and “read for comprehension" and so have yet to understood what is being defined or the method used to create such definitions. So perhaps your right, there is little point in continuing the discussion with you, since you wont even educate yourself on the topic or read to see what has actually been said vs what you believe has been said, before making gross assertions and pointless attacks with no basis to support them. No one has yet to really address the definition, or provide a better option in any way other than "i don’t believe that!!" Which isn’t a very logical basis for anything. Do you wish the laws of your country to be written from a position of ‘feelings and belief’ or ‘logic and reason’? Which do you believe is best applied to everyone? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
I went in expecting a scary movie and ended up seeing something, well, ironic, considering the current state of affairs regarding the DHS. Uh, no. Certainly NOT in this case. The timing of the movie (released by Disney BTW who chose not to release Michael Moore's movie because of its political nature.) There's just no freekin' way 99.9% of the suits at Disney even had a clue that this could be looked at in a political light -- they just aren't that clever -- trust me. All they saw was the money that flowed in from his previous films (Sixth Sense, Unbreakable . . . ) and they just ran with it. i'll have to accept your opinion as i haven’t met many Disney exec's.. but the political subtext in the movie was about as subtle as being hit with a lemon wrapped around a gold brick...sure it is contained in a story with a great deal of other intended interpretations, but that illustrates the difference between a good writer and a mere propagandist, the propagandist is only interested in depicting his particular message, a writer in interested in the story that conveys multiple meanings, but the political message is clearly secondary (or even farther back) to the story and the characters, its particularly evident in the way the movie is intimately shot…..hmm I’d suggest we hold off a bit on to much detail/discussion till more have seen it… ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i think all buckets should have holes to prevent children from drowning in them. what? you mean that makes it worthless as a bucket, perhaps but it saves the lives of the children. wont you think of the children? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

no, and actually i think Ron makes more accurate use of the word 'ironic' too.. its a pretty good movie actually, but like most of his not quite what the previews lead you to believe...seemed to be written as a play with lots of intimate 2 person scenes/shots even when they took place in a party.... of course this movie was completely timed to make the most of political comparisons and so get the 'extra' publicity and revenue... but hardly ironic... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
