me thinks you replied in the wrong thread... perhaps it was the influence of malevolent forces... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

there are a couple of recording of Thin Lizzy doing it... both electric and acoustic versions... iirc it is a 'traditional' tavern song... Thin Lizzy remade it and made it popular in their heyday... i'm sure there are various other version pre-Lizzy, but i'm not familar with them... the Peel Sessions disk has one of the 'acoustic versions'. actually more americans should rediscover Thin Lizzy... and the classic rock stations should play more than 'boys are back' and 'jailbreak'.. http://www.thin-lizzy.com/ Check out 'Black Rose', 'Renegade'' and 'Thunder and Lightning'... but 'Live and Dangerous' or the 'Dedication' disk are really good places to start for an overview.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Now I have the feeling that words I never spoke are put into my mouth... you said ... there is nothing in the quote that indicates that... you BELIEVE no one could imagine it without firsthand experience, but clearly da Vinci imagined and expressed a number of concepts no before him had envisioned. Projecting human emotions into animals? Are you sure you didn't get St Francis of Assisi mixed up wth Leonardo da Vinci here? No. predicting the human emotional response based on the observation of animals and a unique understanding of human nature... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
just wondering but how many people have really heard the Thin Lizzy version to compare it to.... not that Lizzy was the first to do it as it a traditional but.... i'll always prefer Phil Lynot to Hetfeild any day... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

absolute true Good? without flaw or imperfection? soes not exist either... many things that are good for some would be evil for others... Good and Evil are relative and circumstantial. but what many fail to grasp is the universe is more than any two sided system could ever describe...particularly on moral issues such as Good and Evil...but if your trying to fit it into nice little catagories I'd say the Hindu's have it closer to reality... there is no Good or Evil.. there are degrees of Order and Chaos... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

for your statement to be true there can be no Plan... it would fall apart the first time one link in the chain decided to do something other than the path God intended for him... does that mean the christian God is no longer O3? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

it is absolutely true... what you fail to realize is that God was the source of that ambition, the designer of every impulse, every ideal and attitude Lucifer contained.. he fell in exactly the manner God intended him too, every characteristic of the Morning Star came directly from his Creator.... he could act in no other way than the manner he was created... once again we are back to the same tired argument... freewill or predestination... omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent or not... you cannot have it both ways... does the universe follow God's plan or no? Can anything in the universe act in any manner not according to that plan?? think carefully as your answers define your belief in the dogma of your religion.. do you accept your God as all powerful? All knowing? All present? as the Creator, the One, the Name? First Cause? Lucifer WAS created to fall (per the christian mythos) as was Eve, and Adam was designed to follow her, to place his love and trust for her above his fear of retribution by God..... there was never any choice in the matter unless you are willing to accept that the 3 O's do not apply and that there is no plan... If Lucifer had been created to ‘play nice’ and obedient mankind would not have ‘fallen’ either…the entire chain was designed so that humanity could be redeemed by a divine 'sacrifice'…and every thread must play its part or the weave falls apart… according to your faith NOTHING exists that is outside of Gods will, Gods plan... including every 'evil' action perpetrated by the ‘enemy’ he created for himself... attempting to compare any of this discussion to mortal matters is silly… the Constitution is not the Prime Mover…it in no way affects anyone’s life except that they agree to its provisions… the same can hardly be said of God or of Creation.. btw they are ALL myths, whether you believe in them or not…pay close attention to the first entry so we can get beyond the offense believers assume when they misunderstand the terms.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

definately one of my new favorites... one of my bandmates pointed out they coverd it in the same scale as Kashmir.... which adds a whole new spin to it.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

female? might be Tori Amos as well... she did a very nice album of 'reinterpretations' with Strange Little Girls... including Reigning Blood... a Slayer tune i would have never recognized if i didnt know the lyrics. I think i prefer it when an artist makes the song 'their own' either by taking it to another level than the original artist or by revealing elements and tangent meanings not apparent (sometimes not present) in the original... of course i do believe ALOT of cover songs do nothing for the original and should have been left on the cutting room floor... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

last time i was at JRTC the CW3 that was ferrying us about found out i was a skydiver. Mostly because some of my coworkers told him he didnt have to land to let me out.. i'd be willing to jump... he bet me he could give me a ride that would make skydiving pale in comparison... (his female crew chief would have had better luck, but that is a different story ) he flew NOE literally inches above the tree tops, diving and popping up when necessary with us strapped in very nearly hanging outside of the chopper.... i still prefer skydiving, but to be able to do that all day everyday and get paid for it??? wow... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

this has always been one of my favorites particularly for the way the man could make his instrument speak and even weep at times... but the world brought this particular song back to my ears unexpectedly and it was so powerful it nearly made me cry... i've come to respect Cindi Lauper as an artist far more than i would have ever expected in the 80s but this version means far more to me... partly because the words are there, unspoken but just as real..... Time after Time -Miles Davis.. so the question then... who has 'reinvented' a song in a way that made it more meaningful for you personally? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

actually the lack of available profits is one of the prime reasons why no one in the drug industry has pushed the government for permission to have real comprehensive testing on the effects of marijuana...there is nothing for them to gain in investing the vast amounts of money such a study would require... either way.. proven effective or no they lose any chance of regaining that investment... the fundamental principle of government isnt "what is best for the people" it is "money talks" no profit? no study, and no reason to admit that the years of government demonization was simply propaganda... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

1. The quote seems to come from someone with firsthand experience in flying. this statement is an assumption from someone who believes that no one else could ever imagine the emotional nature of flight without experiencing it first hand... one of the key qualities of genius is visualization and sympathetic imagination... da Vinci's genius is undoubted... he was very likely the last person to be 'completely educated' in all available fields of study in his time... it is perfectly reasonable to theorize that simply from a detailed study of birds (something we can document he did) he came to 'understand' the elation a earth bound creature would feel when they left the bonds they had know all their life... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
this statement shows you have some erroneous assumptions about science you should attempt to shed... 'why not' is not the question science asks... the question is "why?" science is based on observation and conjecture about those observations vs religion that is simply based on hope and faith... of course if you believe you already know the answers (as most religions do) then you no longer have any reason ask the questions... a critical error in the quest for truth. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

very much so... he is a huge fan of myth and its influence on human development... i enjoyed American Gods, but it was one of his first ventures into the novel format (apart from some very early collaborative work) the majority of his work is short stories or novellas and imo he appears much more comfortable in the shorter formats..although he does carry themes (and characters on occasion) from one story to the next... he's probably most well know for the ground breaking comic book series "The Sandman" in the early 90s. Myth is its fundamental theme and it did a whole lot to get comics and graphic novels accepted as literature... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

it is really amazing how well science fiction authors predict the future... of course we can only hope some of the more dire predictions dont occur as well... how long till they are designed to chose targets independently?? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -

i dont know a single soldier, marine or airman who isnt proud of their service or the professionalism with which they server... i know alot of them, many career military, who are wondering why exactly they are being called apon to do so in the time, place, manner they are in Iraq... it isnt their service they question, it is the "leadership" and the reasoning and motivation for invading in the first place... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i guess CBS and NBC are well aware the majority of their viewers are the fundamentalists who are to stupid to realize the only real programming on television anymore is on cable...and if they alienate their last market they go down in flames.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Toronto is to be forgiven for anything they might do wrong for 100 years, just because they gave us Rush.
