You would not make a good business person in skydiving industry .

The jumper involved posted it on his website: http://www.amador.org/gallery2/v/movies/ BTW, pause the video in the 7th second and look at the main container - it is open at that time. Overall, makes for a pretty spectacular (and scary) video ! Whole thread here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1192698#1192698

BAD IDEA. Example: you climb outside an airplane. Suddenly, you are pulled from the step (premature deployment). You look up and see your canopy wrapped around the tail. SAME canopy colors you see everytime you look up after deployment. Instinctively, you cut away right away. Nothing happens. You realize it's you reserve that is wrappeed around the tail... You have a hooknive, but what's the purpose of using it since you ALREADY cut away your main...

Nancy LaRiviere talks at the 8th Explorers Festival
skydiverek replied to 3331's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi, I am from Poland. I saw it live on the Internet. It was pretty cool, geared toward the non-jumpig audience. She talked about her work, records, equipment, women in the sport, why we jump, different types of jumps, disciplines, etc. She also had a slide-show presentation. Last year, Norman Kent from was at the same festival, had a really cool presentation, and also received an award. Later taht night, we took him to the bar, drunk lots of beer and heard some very cool stories forem him stories. Cool guy! Two years ago Joe Jennings was here, too. -

That's not how this should be conducted in the online business world. Either your release it fully (or at lesst 99%) tested and bug-free, or not. The best way to acomplish it is to send the "trial offline website" or the new website under different link to all you dealers, employees, etc, and let them clisk it through. That, plus prior in-house testing, of course. There are same BASIC errors on that webpage... -
No more Relative Workshop...

There are also other flaws in the website, like some text overlaping (I am using 800x600 resolution, just like some governemt with millions of dollars to spend might), not being able to save pdf files in order to open them from the desktop or to email them. "Streaming" pdfs takes a loooong time and you can not browse a website during that time... There are also some punctuation and grammar mistakes. I never understood how the companies can play with their image so lightly... I found all these errors in less than 5 minutes of browsing. Same will happen with some foreign government looking for someone to give them millions of dollras in contracts. If the company seems careless about building a website (punctuation, grammar, text overlapping, wron page title, etc) is it also careless about bulilding life saving equipment, making sure the right webbing is used, etc, quality control, manufacturing process, inspection...? Something to think about for UPT... Also, is it just me, or does the website have a "teenager" feel...? -
I think you guys missed the point of this joke

From Bill Booth: "I tried making hand deploy pouches out of Cordura 20 years ago, but quit because I had so many complaints of hard pulls. They work fine for some people, and are dangerous for others. The reason is that there about a dozen sizes of pilot chutes out there, and even more ways to pack them, and I have no idea which pilot chute the user might try to cram into the pouch or how they might pack it. Spandex pouches almost never cause hard pulls, because they take any size pilot chute, packed any way you can think of (well, almost). It's a simple as that. The real solution would be to combine the toughness of Cordura with the stretchness of Spandex. Luckily, such a material already exists. It's called (no brainer) Spandura, and you'll find it on all my drogue pouches. (A word of caution...There are at least 10 different styles of Spandura. Be sure you choose the right one). " and "I tried Cordura pouches with elastic mouths 20 years ago, but had a lot of complaints about hard pulls. Going to Spandex pouches solved that problem. It was a godsend to manufacturers, because we have to put a pouch on a rig that will safely allow the use of ANY size pilot chute, made out of any material, from a 36 inch F-111 to a very slippery 18" ZP. It must be easy for the smallest girl to extract, but stay in the pouch during a 300 mph head down dive. Nothing I've tried can do all that but Spandex. But, as has been noted, Spandex is easy to damage, especially on tandem rigs. Boy was I glad when DuPont combined Spandex with Cordura to make Spandura. It has the stretch of Spandex and the toughness of Cordura. It comes in dozens of styles, so it took a lot of experimentation to find the right one, but it sure paid off. We have been using it on Sigma Tandem systems for about a year now, and are very happy with the results. It will become "standard" on all Vectors this month. Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too. I'm sure other manufacturers will eventually "discover" it too, and it will become the industry standard." I heard that all sport Vector 3's get Spandura pouches by default now.

Spandex, cordura... What to choose ...? Spandura ! : http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=search_results&search_forum=all&search_string=spandura&search_type=OR&search_fields=sb&search_time=&search_user_username=billbooth&sb=score&mh=50

That's interesting, since 'stereotyped' freeflying is head down... So is Vector 3 bad for head down, since the flap points upwards... I know what you mean, but your argument could be worded better.

Here is the song-less version of famous flight by Loic. You can hear the REAL sound of the wingsuit passing by (as I was told): http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=354&string=loic ...and here is one with a song, better picture quality, and slightly different editing: http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=352&string=loic
