  1. ???????????????????????????????????? Unbelievable. You want to get it right? Do the math. define 45 Relative to the horizon. Brian - imagine a jumplane flying with an airspeed of 100 mph INTO the 100 mph headwind. The jumprun feels normal - one can stick his hand outside of the door and feel the 100mph wind on it. But, in reality, the airplane is covering 0 feet per second (ground speed). First jumper leaves the airplane. You wait, let's say 20 to 30 seconds, until he reaches the "45 degrees". Second jumper exits. BUT both open above the SAME ground point. " The "45 Degree Rule" for exit separation DOES NOT WORK ": http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=988627;page=1;mh=-1;;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1971076#1971076
  2. It would need to go back to the factory for a check after 40 repacks or 20 (or 25, don't remember) jumps, whichever comes first. Then, it will likely be "recertified" by PD.
  3. I will pay you lots of money for this book. Anyone :-)?

  11. Dropzone.com discussion on the Astra accident here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=1301903;page=1;mh=-1;;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC http://www.dropzone.com/fatalities/Detailed/60.shtml
  12. OK, I found it. Check fatality number 21 here: http://www.skydivingfatalities.info/search.asp?MinDate=1%2F1%2F2004&MaxDate=31%2F12%2F2004&Country=US&CountryOp=%3D
  13. I could not find it online, but I recall is is in the spring issue of Parachutist magazine (2004 fatality summary), from year 2005. Fatality occured in the U.S. in year 2004.
  14. Correct, but the Collins Lanyard evolved from the 'external' white piece of line (introduced in 1998), to black internal loop, to yellow loop introduced in 2009 (as a response to the tandem fatality). So, I was asking about the 3rd generation of Collins Lanyard.
  15. I was talking about the: Staging Loop: http://www.unitedparachutetechnologies.com/PDF/Stagging-loop/INSTRUCT_005___Staging_Loop_Packing_Instructions_14_18_18%5B1%5D.pdf Yellow Loop: http://www.unitedparachutetechnologies.com/PDF/Stagging-loop/INSTRUCT_008___Split_RSL___Vector_3_Installation_Instructions_14_17_45%5B1%5D.pdf
  16. Not to be repetitive, but the Astra DID NOT kill, nor did it contribute to his death... Here we go again ;-)... I know that, you are responssible for your life, blah, blah, blah. I was just talking about Astra's relalibility.
  17. Are brand new Microns and smaller V3s manufatcured with the Staging Loop and the Yellow Loop?
  18. A student died in the US in 2004 when his Astra did not fire. It was still in "Ready" status after he hit the ground at 120 mph. I think that was the beginning of end for Astra...
  19. Please read this thread: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=924793
  20. Can you provide a link to her post? Was she using the bungee? Were you using the bungee during your incident?
  21. I am aware of one fatality (student in Namibia with waaaaay too large rig). So, the problem was somewhere else. What the rig fitted properly, and of proper size, in the second accident that you are quoting? Anyways, worry about things that happen more often than one in 50 million jumps . (Approx 5 million jumps are made each year worldwide).
  22. Worry about things that actually DO happen, instead. If you have to modify the rig, invest in belly band, which will actually make the 'hole' in the harness smaller, by bringing your rig closer to you.
