  1. Yes. With 3 canopies. Intentional cutaways on UPT rig were available to anyone during the last Vector Festival. Cost was 75 Euros total for the jump.
  2. Watch with sound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=jJ8TsLR-tHo
  3. Reserve can be cutaway by pulling the break-away handle. What is interesting, if you open the main first, you can cut it away and open your reserve. Then, the reserve can NOT be cutaway. If you open reserve first, it CAN be cut away, and then you can open the main. Then, the main can NOT be cutaway. Basically, you cannot cutaway your LAST canopy ("cutaway inhibitor system"). Drogue will deploy if Felix reaches the spin of 3Gs for more than 5 seconds. Main or reserve can be open with or without the drogue out. Cypres releases the drogue and opens the reserve. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SErtpdKLsM4 Way to go INFINITY!!!
  4. Mechanical advantage will be lower, though.
  5. Thank you for all the corrections and clarification!
  6. Who knows. I know PD has military reserve canopies that are designed to open for 10 (ten) seconds. Maybe it is similar in this case?
  7. The third, highest one, will happen between July and October.
  8. Are these available on sport rigs? Interlock (Eric Fradet): military DRX (Mirage): sport (secret option for selected customers ;-) ) LES (Basik): sport (used to be?, not any more) DRD (SWS Rigs): military
  9. MARDS that I know of: Skyhook (UPT) RAX (Kelly Farington) Interlock (Eric Fradet) DRX (Mirage) LES (Basik) DRD (SWS Rigs)
  10. He is against RSL, but for Skyhook. There even used to be a paper on UPT website listing mainly disadvantages of RSL. I am for RSL.
  11. Does anyone know the surface area for the French reserves: Minimax 203, and Minimax 201A ?

  13. That was in Sunday's papers. Sunday, first day of April ... No, no, he has been talking about it for few monthis, and on April 2nd he wrote on his FB that the boxes are being delivered and that he needs help to build the landing strip this coming Friday. Also, a big company is sponsoring him. Sounds real to me!
  14. Got a reply: "This canopy was made by Parachute Industries of Southern Africa (PISA) under license from Para-Flite. Based on the maximum weight this is a Swift Plus 175. Randy Copenhaver Production Engineering Director" Hence, different serial numbers....
  15. I have a Swift Plus here. DOM: June 1990. TSO C23c (Cat b). P/N: E 8009. Max gross weight: 200 lbs. No size is published... I know that Swift Plus was in sizes of 145, 175, and 225. Which one would be mine?
  16. 45 degree rule is a source with ZERO VALUE. Having NO DATA whatsoever, I would watch the ground covered distance with my eyes, or, if ground view was partially obstructed by clouds, leave 15 seconds between groups just to be safe.
  17. Exactly my thoughts... Pulling the steal cable at 90 degrees...
  18. Read the first eight (blue) links on this website: http://mypages.iit.edu/~kallend/skydive/
  19. I will try to explain this to you: 1. Airplane has a GROUND speed of zero mph. 2. Airplane has an airspeed of 100 mph. 3. Both jumpers, in result, will exit over the SAME point on the ground, and will be "blown back" the same amout of feet. Let me know if I need to explain further.
  20. I understand that. In my "100 mph" example the first jumper would also be behind the plane and at 45 degree angle.
  21. Oh wow, really? I also believe AAD is mandatory in France correct? How about RSL?
