He says in this interview his WS is made of F1-11...?

URGENT....Apache owners, discontinue use of new handles
johnmatrix replied to Tony-tonysuits's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Isn't there more play for the cable in an RSL system? -
I just hope he's not using those thumb loop cutaway mods. Saw this poll too... I voted for the top option. :) http://www.anonvote.com/poll.php?id=a11781612C

I know it is against the rules, it was just an observation. Thanks for the reference anyway. -

I know this is unlikely to occur but wouldn't the best solution be to let BASE jumpers jump their BASE gear on these skydives? -
At 0.18 - 24 there is a black mark across the top of the left hand wing. Does anyone else think that is evidence of digital matting? Is more obvious if you play it full screen. With the second shot of him lifting into the air I reckon they got a real model, smaller, to fly somehow. See the leg lift at 0.38 - 41 seems quite robotic - the legs seem frozen in place.
-
I reckon it's fake. Aside from the details in the video, I don't see how that contraption could generate lift. Compare it to this (real) wing at 0.18: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bsbdMozIzM

Thanks.

Hey, since I'm slightly OCD and won't cope well if I drill a hole in my helmet, find out I've put it in the wrong place, and then have to drill another I thought I'd ask - For use with a Cookie cage, why go with the Hypeye D Pro over the Hypeye Mini - as the camera can be turned on manually? Where's the best place for the Hypeye D Pro button, and would anyone worry about what the effect could be of having that chunky bit of plastic inside your helmet in an impact situation? Helmet concerned is a Cookie Rok.

Phoenix-Fly Wingsuit Camp - Australia (Video & Event Announcement)
johnmatrix replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Some early 90s dance music would be better. (awesome video Jarno ) -
So according to the article he's jumping a modified Apache that will enable a 60mph forward speed with 22mph descent rate, is that right? Anyone know what the modifications are?
-
http://www.wingsuitnews.com/ Thanks for all the links and info Jarno and co, it'll be sad to have to remove this from my bookmarks. I must say also, that I truly believe this site has helped untold numbers of people battle their devastating addictions to internet pornography by providing an alternate source of stimulus. Unfortunately, ever since 'Ready to Go' I have needed ever larger and more potent amounts of wingsuit video to achieve even close to the level of pwnership I used to experience in the months before hand. WWWN helped in that regard, but I guess it was a losing battle. But no really, thanks for keeping it running for so long.

I got a Phantom2 for my first wingsuit without trying any other suit, no regrets.

Sorry if I am missing something here but - what the hell is the camera guy (Jeff?) using all those GoPros for? Is it for some special 3D configuration? The mounting is different from the 3D mounts I have seen.

My cat's breath smells like cat food.
-
OK - just for the extra control in flying? Was just wondering since typically the camera flyer doesn't track on breakoff.
-
Generally speaking - what's a good reason to get a camera suit with booties?

Holding the PC after extraction longer than needed?
johnmatrix replied to Tsynique's topic in Safety and Training
I know a guy who had the bridle tie a knot in itself around the PC on extraction, got a PC-in-tow. -
Thanks for posting! Great video. Hang on to that boyfriend.

I jumped with Dav3e over Xmas and he showed me a picture of the event he organised. Totally awesome!

Does anyone have a link handy to a video of what they consider the perfect exit to be? Sorry I've only seen about a billion on YouTube but thought someone might know of a particularly good example.

I have a Canopus ADVC300. Works great. Converts to standard DV and inputs to PC via firewire. You can run it through it's own software but I run it through Premiere. It also comes with various filters that can improve VHS footage but I haven't really used them. It's expensive but I can fully recommend it. I reckon Canopus' other less expensive options would be good too.

Yeah that's what I was using, seemed to work OK. Thanks for all the responses! I will have a look for some suitable wire to use as a replacement. I'm just surprised at how quickly it happened. I've only had this tool for about 3 months - it's the finger trapping tool included in the Cypres packer's kit. (addition) Just remembered I think I was using this tool to do something it wasn't designed for that may have resulted in scarring to the surface of it.
