  1. Thanks for posting. I'm curious, did you have the same look of tranquility on your face during this one as you did during this earlier video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LU6iN1QLH50 Or was it more like: .... .... ....
  2. I can track at 3:1 into a head wind, on my back.
  3. That's all very interesting, thanks for the review.
  4. With the glide ratio, I think technically if you're climbing you're beyond 'glide ratio' territory. High GR is still a downward sloping flight path path. 2:1, 3:1, 5:1, 100:1 are all approaching a straight horizontal flight path but you're still descending. But once you cross over that horizontal (climb up even briefly) your GR will spike off the chart. Having said all that, and looking at the graph again, there are some instances where it peaks, but not off the chart. I'm no expert on how the data is compiled in these devices so someone else may have some more informative comments. :)
  5. Charles Sturt has a good reputation but Canberra would be your best bet for proximity to DZs. Main DZs in NSW are Picton, Moruya, Elderslie and Maitland.
  6. Wow, nice work surviving, and thanks for posting.
  7. Just to clarify it wasn't meant to be a dig at Brian, I like his videos, and like reading these discussions. But I think this solution is for people who just can't be fucked to buy the right gear. Having said that, virtually everyone at my DZ jumps a GoPro without a cutaway system once they have 100 jumps and none of them have gone in (skydiving) yet, so maybe it's not an issue.
  8. What is so hard about BUYING an actual helmet with an actual cutaway system? "Boo hoo, it costs money! WAAA! WAAA! All I have is this full face, GoPro 3, freefly suit, and entire set of skydiving gear, I can't afford another helmet! No wait - WAIT - I'll use a piece of string to address this potentially lethal problem and spend the rest of my money on a few jump tickets and cases of beer! YOLO lololololololOMG rofl"
  9. No - they'll film shit, for sure. But for JUST family stuff, it'd be a better idea to get a 'normal' video camera IMO, so you can zoom and have some flexibility. Or get a DSLR. Problem is it's harder to mount a DSLR on your cat, for that a GoPro would be better.
  10. Umm... if you got a wingsuit, that suffices for those that require payment for services rendered. Just sayin'... "You got pretty inlets, boy..."
  11. Sadly after making the second payment on mine I didn't have enough money for sex.
  12. What about sleeping with the wingsuit in bed with you - how many nights is necessary? I think I did only one.
  13. I did a few of these in the leadup to my first wingsuit jump (between 180 - 200 jumps) and I think it helped. The openings were a bit wild though - moreso than with a wingsuit, but I don't see that as a problem with a big docile canopy.
  14. Come on cunce, who has a Viper and where are your pics???
  15. Could be that the Jedi is better with The Force risers. Who knows. Wondering if the price will include a copyright levy that gets paid to LucasFilm.
  16. I want to purchase the aforementioned General's product right this instant.

    PF Havok

I definitely agree with that too. The Havok is the only suit I've jumped without grippers, and I was really surprised at how much more natural it felt. But I guess you can fly pretty much any suit without using the grippers if you really want. Anyway, I liked it. A+ would jump again.

    PF Havok

Others have much more experience than me - but I did a single jump on a Ghost 3 and a Havok in one day a while back, and the Havok did feel a lot more maneuverable than the Ghost. The Ghost felt really, really solid, which I liked, but the Havok just felt a lot easier to fly. This is compared to my standard suit; a Phantom 2. I know 3 guys who jump Havoks and love them. Personally I'd go for the Ghost only because it has a tiny bit of extra surface area, but in an ideal world I'd have both.
  19. It's not really that expensive for what it is - the RED is a competitor to actual 35mm movie cameras, they can cost hundreds of thousands (and then there is the film as well) - and other formats like HDCAM. e.g. Sony HDCAM SR camera, for $62,000 (lens sold seperately): http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/661909-REG/Sony_SRW_9000_SRW_9000_HDCAM_SR_Camcorder.html
