  1. You are jumping out of a plane. If the parachute doesn't work you'll die. You are likely to feel fear or anxiety at some point. What matters is how badly you want to do it. Everything will be more clear when you're standing on the ground again after your first jump.
  2. One thing of many I remember about Michael is that he absolutely hated it when people spelled his name wrong. :) Can a mod fix the spelling to 'Vaughan' please? He posted here as michaelqld
  3. I definitely agree with this - I think the key to learning to deploy is to be able to fly stable in the 'deployment position' so you're not feeling any pressure to get it out as soon as possible. Being calm and deliberate first time is faster than trying too quickly and missing it.
  4. Against the odds, you've had a lot of good advice. :) Myself, I have only ever flown PF, so you'd be better off getting advice from a few people who have flown both. However, When I ordered my first wingsuit I wasn't able to demo any. Based on much reading of this forum and other people's advice, I ordered a brand new Phantom 2 and have no regrets. I would recommend a Phantom to anyone. I will never sell mine, have done over 200 jumps on it so far, and despite owning a bigger suit I still do 95% of my wingsuit jumps with it. Demo if you can but the main thing is that it's appropriately sized. You'll get a really well made product from any of the major manufacturers. So don't stress, just get something and start flying. :)
  5. Rodeos must only be done at specific times - when the big hand touches the little hand.
  6. Ghost McDonald's Ghost Whopper Ghost Michael Jackson
  7. Mr Biceps would have to be up there for me. It was his own nickname - posted under it here.
  8. Is this for a romance novel? P.S. Turbulence may also be an issue (as mentioned above).
  9. I like mine, but I'm still learning about the optimal settings. https://www.flickr.com/photos/mrandrewwright/11770174245/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/mrandrewwright/9883940915/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/mrandrewwright/15367328016/
  10. Personally I'd top mount it for two reasons. 1. Side mounted the wide angle will likely include some of your face on one side. 2. On top there's less risk of a riser hitting it. But I'd put it on the side if I had a good reason to.
  11. http://www.unitedparachutetechnologies.com/index.php/og/item/semi-stowless-bag FYI, didn't clickify that as I enjoy watching others do it.
  12. Maybe the risers went to someone who had no familiarity with the slinks with rings - and when they wanted to change them they thought the rings were meant to stay tacked to the riser and left them there.
  13. Here's one.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGSLGKQ2QBM&
  14. I remember not long ago a guy started posting here who had strapped microjet turbines to a carbon fibre wing and was trying to take off with it by going down a makeshift runway on a skateboard. Had video and everything. I thought it was pretty awesome actually, but the dude was fully about to die.
  15. Lame. Your penalty is to jump the invention yourself and get video.
  16. Hahahaaa - can't wait to see this video.
  17. I'd jump that were it not for the really odd colour scheme.
  18. Maybe re-mount the flatlock? I had a similar issue with my top mount, I recently changed it to a Cookie top-mount plate to mount 2 cameras, and made sure I mounted it angled back a little bit further.
  19. Honestly, I haven't even noticed. - probably only shot video with it 5 times and haven't paid a lot of attention to the results as yet. Mainly got it to take pics.
  20. I am using a Canon 600D occasionally and while I'm not an expert yet I'm quite happy with it. I'm still using a CX100 and Sony action cam as well. Here's a nice video on the 7D MarkII though this gear might be overkill for a first DSLR... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOvaGyEsgC0
