Carry on rigs with AAD - what's the deal?
bucketlistpilot replied to milehigheric's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That sucks. I've flown with my rig carry-on between Sydney and Christchurch/Auckland every month for the past 4 years and never had an issue. Good advice above re words never to say. Here's a link to a Cypres clarification from NZ CAA. http://www.skydivezone.co.nz/site/skydivezone/files/pdf%20files/NZ%20CAA%20CYPRES%20Non-dangerous.pdf cheers Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App admin@loadupsoftware.com -
I think the APF needs to change plenty of things before this. I grudgingly paid full annual membership last year even though I knew I'd be lucky to do more than 5/6 jumps. I've done 2 at home in Oz up until now with 30 days left before renewal comes around again. I would have happily taken out 3 month temp membership each time I wanted to jump, but was told that because I'd previously had full membership the temp option was not available to me. $180+ membership for 1 day jumping in Oz - think I'll be letting it slide this year. Maybe I'd be fined for not jumping enough there. Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App admin@loadupsoftware.com

Transcript of a facebook conversation I had tonight with a mate of mine. All identifying names/places blacked out. Is this really going on with young jumpers? xxxxxxx are funny with wingloading how come? xxxxxx told me on sunday I should start thinking of downsizing And they have a student who has 30 jumps and he just bought a 170 and wingloads it at 1.4 But it hasnt arrived yet That's pretty fucked up I reckon. APF would love to hear that Yeh the guy was telling me and I was just like better you than me Like I dunno if this guy has even talkex to them about it I mean he seems really cocky And hes the guy who has had 2 chops in under 20 jumps I hate that shit. Bet they deny it when he pounds in Yeh fuck me It just seems weird Like seriously seems like this guy has just bought the gear hope he tries to take it somewhere else. They'll ground him for sure Yeh like I said he hasnt jumped it yet so im keen to see if he even gets to I questioned him about it and his reason for getting a 170 not a 190 was the container he bought only fits a 170 I won't be keen to go back there if they let him jump it. I'm not prepared to die getting hit by some fucktard who's way beyond his skill level I reckon hed only weigh like 5kg less than me Yeh I reckon I bet xxxxxx'd ground him at xxxxxxx Yeh I reckon so Find out what loads he's on and go on alternate ones to him Yeh im satrting to wonder if he actually would wingload at 1.4 or if he was just talking big Nah you'd have to be 108.18kg to be at 1.4 Yeh me and you would but I dont reckon this guy would Ohh but that includes gear. So 95kg would pretty much get you there Yeh I'm gonna black out the names on this conversation and see what people on the forums think Haha alright you jump last weekend? oh yeah Sunday Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App admin@loadupsoftware.com

Definitely not me I've been flying the same 210 since jump 21. These guys have 20,000 and 10,000 jumps each. Me - I've got a family to support. I was videoing my son's landing, the 17yo coming in on the left. Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App admin@loadupsoftware.com -

Moving to Dubai just to skydive?
bucketlistpilot replied to Chelseaflies's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Where in NZ are you? $6,000? Really? Did my AFF here 4 years ago and did my 300th last weekend. Plenty of great places here to skydive. New Zealand Skydiving School an hour out of Christchurch. Did my AFF and 200+ jumps there. Skydive Abel Tasman at Motueka. Done 40+ there. Great place and people. Skydive Auckland at Parakei outside Auckland. Ballistic Blondes at Whangarei. Haven't jumped at either Parakei or Whangarei but know some awesome instructors from both. All of them have a healthy sport jumping atmosphere and great instructors. You might be getting the cart before the horse a little worrying about your D licence when you haven't made your first jump yet? NZ newbie, doing the Diploma
bucketlistpilot replied to Lanky_Raro's topic in Introductions and Greets
Yeah Nate spot-on, it's absolutely all about attitude. Over the years of watching the course there's certainly been some students who expected the piece of paper to guarantee them their dream job in skydiving. In the real world I don't know of anything that gives you that after 8 months. The majority of the students though seem to view the course as only the first 8 months of a 3/4 year College/Uni course. They know that the hard work really starts after the diploma and have proven that with hard work for a couple of years they can certainly be doing whatever they want to in a skydiving career. I can rattle off at least a couple of pages of names that within a couple of years of completion have jump numbers approaching 2,000, have AFF and Tandem ratings, and are in high demand. The piece of paper might not mean much by itself, but certainly the work ethic and commitment of most of them does. New firmware update for the black due on the 2nd april
bucketlistpilot replied to spencer's topic in Photography and Video
4 jumps on Sunday after the update, no freezes. Before update mine froze 50% of the time if turned on above 9000ft but never if turned on before 7000ft. Go figure? Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App admin@loadupsoftware.com -
NZ newbie, doing the Diploma
bucketlistpilot replied to Lanky_Raro's topic in Introductions and Greets
Hi Nate, I did my AFF at the school 4 years ago as a 45 year old with my 55yo mate. Never wanted a tandem either, went straight to AFF and should do my 300th next time I'm out there. Last year my 16yo son and his mate came over from Oz for 2 weeks in April and did their AFF/A Licence at the school. They returned for 3 weeks in December and did their Year 10 school work experience there and almost finished their B. Son's mate Michael was back last month for 2 weeks and my son comes back for 2 weeks next month. The school often gets a lot of crap put on it on these forums that is in most cases completely wrong. With world-class coaches like Gary Beyer and his staff working in a teaching only environment, almost all of the 200+ students I've seen go through the Diploma course have come out of it with some exceptional skills. Have a look at some of the student videos on the facebook page and you'll see kids with under 200 jumps doing 3 point 10 ways, 20+ point 4 ways, and 30+ point 2 ways. My Aussie boys have 3 turbine dropzones within an hour of home but they still come back to the school for 4+ weeks a year simply because they've seen how much quicker they advance in comparison to home. Even with nearly 300 jumps I'm considering the Diploma myself next year to use the 175 jumps included to do my AFF rating. Hopefully I'll see you there mate.
