Ketia0, I'm only a reader in this matter and not involved, but google "Mark Schlatter Skydiving" (demo jumper website, etc) then do a Search on dropzone.com for nickname "Slyde" (the main one being this thread). It gives some background information... Personally nothing of interest to most of us skydivers like you and me who just want to continue to enjoy jumping, but my posting gives contextual information to any outside jumpers who's never heard. I read his post before, but they never made too much sense. All i can really tell is he has a grudge against the USPA and the GK. I dont know his past, so I cant pass judgement... But I enjoy the USPA.. Havent seen anything wrong with it... but then again.. im REALLY new.. and like you.. Just here to have fun and jump!! "In this game you can't predict the future. That might be it, mixed with anxiety.. This was the first time i jumped from altitude with just sunglasses. I usually wear sealed off goggles... I hope thats all it was. But it could have been a number of things.. I dont think i was stressed. but hey. who knows.. Ill be jumping tomorrow afternoon to see if it happens again.. ? It happened to me today, and i cant explain it. It was my 6th jump of the day. 3 hop and pops, and this was my 3rd jump at alititude. Anywho. When I jumped out at 14,000 I lost my breath. I focused the whole skydive on trying to breath. I couldnt get oxygen from my mouth or my nose. Once I was down to about 5,000 feet, I dumped, and was able to breath again... On the bright side, I landed EXACTLY on target!! Has this ever happened to yall? I have a headache now. I think thats all the jumps im going to do for the day. Ganna go home and take a break.. yea... So now i ahve to put up with everyones mean and rude stares all day. But, last night i went out grociery shopping to try and cool things off... Today for work i brought enough lasagna for everyone to have 2 plates, garlic bread, sodas, ice cream, and cookies. I bought salad, bu forgot it at home. Niether. Some douche overheard me and one of my CLOSE freinds talking at one of our wharehouses.. Long story short, i was kiding around with MY CLOSE FRIEND and said " yea, we dont do anything around here.. eat and sleep".. It was a personal joke. My close freind knows how much i actually do down here. So... Now my WHOLE unit is ticked off at me. nobodies talking. they dont understand. and this douche that overheard totally messed the story up. So now people think I said things I didnt say... If you fly into Houston, let me know. Im 30 minutes from Hobby airport, and about a hour from Bush Intercontental. I know a guy at spaceland ( which is about a hour from IAH) that rents out bunk beds for $20 bucks a night... You can give him a call at Skydive Spaceland. His name is Ron. Here in Texas our season never ends... You can sweat in the winter!!!!! i need to take my rig back to the packer before i jumped.. I was showing my freinds how everything on the rig works, and realized.. i dont know how to pack a pilot chute back.. Does it matter how its is shoved in there? Yea, I have a cat.. Keeps the house from being so lonely... COuldnt have a dog with my work schedule.. Wouldnt be fair to him. ( I work 12 hours a day, everyday, and sleep 7) so thats only 3 hours of time I have to myself each day.. and i got to much to do to play with a dog.. Toggles does his own thing in the house...
