Just a reminder, but the boogie weekend is also a NASCAR race weekend. Most people travelling on SATURDAY are going to encounter this traffic as we are not too far from the race track. We HIGHLY recommend that you arrive Friday night if at all possible to avoid the traffic. If you cannot do so, the earlier you arrive on saturday the better, but expect delays. Hi LiLa, Always play out of the approach area. Never assume even if you're last out that you'll be first down. What if someone had a premature deployment or pulled high and you didn't know? It is absolutely OK to play under canopy. My comments were more directed at where you play and what altitude you stop playing at. Learn as much about your canopy as you can, just do it far away from the main pattern and at a safe altitude.

I'm sorry, but as self appointed "Head Hoo-Haa Curator" I must step in and point out the un-hoo-haa airworthiness of that canopy. Playing until 1k will most likely put you in other peoples traffic pattern. An incredibly inconsiderate thing to do is be spiralling around or flying erratic at that altitude. If you aren't in someone's way now (bigger canopy) you soon will be. Instead focus on learning your canopy about 2k. From there on down it's fly a considerate pattern and set up levels, or if you're too high to fly your pattern, hold in your designated holding area until your altitude is good for moving into the pattern. I remember when I moved to the States (in december 1998) getting off the plane in my SA "Winter Clothes" and freezing my nuts off. Great, I'd be really interested to see what you think of it. It didn't have some characteristics I personally like in a canopy but it was fun to fly and I think it'll have what you're looking for. Either way keep us posted.

The Katana is incredibly ground hungry, it's almost like a cross braced canopy in it's desire to eat up altitude. While the SAM's I've seen fly (there was one at my old dz) sure do dive more than say a Stilletto they're more like the CF2 in their recovery arc. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
