He's 8? How about you tell him to do something really nutty. 1) Have him rewrap his gift and put it under the tree. 2) Have him give everyone their gift on Xmass day. Every one sits and he takes the gift from under the tree and presents it to the family. And once everyone has opened up their gifts and thanked each other for their thoughts he cleans up all of the gift wrapping and then he can open up his gifts. Well you are within your rights to disagree but no need to call names. Half the stuff I do is for a light laugh...the other is social satire. And as we all know with every ounce of satire there lies a grain of truth. And though I joke about "in engineering if the girl isn't rocking a unibrow and walking around in sweat pants she's hot" there is a good bit of truth in that statement. I've worked as an engineer both in the US and in Europe and with engineers from all over the world. And there are two underlying facts about engineers. First and foremost is their curiosity with respect to nature and how things work and how to make things better....sometimes this is very productive and other times they are making an amplifier that goes to 11. The other is that the young ones seem to chase around any woman as if she were mother hen and think she is the "hottest thing on the planet" when in reality she probably couldn't get a drink at a bar if she paid for it. Now I'm not saying all engineering girls are this way but a good number of them are. Some take advantage of it, and these are the ladies who I focus most of my satirical rants on and others don't...those girls rock. Now I'm sure you had a great dinner with a wonderful person, I'm not denying that you did. And I'm not denying your friend was and is a very nice person who not only has a charming personality but is very physically appealing. What I'm saying is that those traits within the engineering community are truly a rarity. All the above aside......and though it has been good fun being mean to the engineering chicks who lead the parade of engineers.....it really is time to stop. It's not good for the soul. Look my problem with engineering girls is rather simple, many who could not get a drink at a bar even if they paid for it are treated like gold in the industry simply because they are a hot commodity. It's true, as an HR person once told me...."Look I would love to promote a guy but well...she hasn't killed anyone nor sold off any info to the Chinese and we need to promote her because there are not enough of them in upper management." Not don't get all pissed off...I'm not saying all engineering girls are this way but a good number are and well that's just not kosher. False entitlement is a horrible thing to support. As such as god and someones savior I know it is my job to educate engineers all over the world that with a little bit of working out and dressing right and a bit of false bravado they can pick up much more attractive and much less "my shit don't stink because i'm one girl an entire office of dicks" type girls at any bar, club, cafe or truck stop. I guess you can call me Prometheus! I enlighten those who are blind....It's my calling really. Alas sadly it will end though, I think as of Jan 2 2012 I will put down my flame and take a break from pissing off engineering girls.
