It was just a question regarding social issues. I was wondering what others think. Not only have I dated girls who I would classify as "collectors" i've have friends who are "collectors". Will technology advance such that maybe we don't have to "downsize"? Can a thin wing made of a strong enough fabric be developed such that people can make high speed approach with out needing to jump sub 100stft wings? Or are we in a situation where due to line drag we have to go smaller to get those epic swoops? Also, for a guy like me who is happy with the "ride" will the developers develop "fun" "floaty" 200+sqft canopies? For those of us who ride.....say a Sport Touring wing? For me and this is just me, a "collector" implies insecurity. And well there is nothing worse than an insecure partner. That's how I see it. In the engineering world I get it. Yeah there are way more guys than girls. And from what I can tell lot of the guys lend themselves to being "collected". As for skydiving, I was just guessing due to my very limited knowledge. But what explains the non skydiving non engineering girls? It's not that I dislike I'm just asking an open ended question. And I think we have some very interesting answers thus far. I had assumed it was an insecurity / ego thing but we have had some really interesting answers. Yes but let's not spin this. Most girls are neither of those things. However this may be an odd data set. After all how many girls are in skydiving? 5 girl for 100 guys +/- So if you are a girl in this sport and most of your friends are in this sport than well yeah I guess 15 dudes and one girl friend sound about right? I've been on dates with girls who after dinner we go out and she asks if she can invite friends...i say sure and here come the cocks. Then when I don't call her or ask her out again she gets pissed. I have some female friends who are the same way. But I no longer go out with them. When they call me up I just ask "So is it a sausage fest?" If they give me any hint that it is, I don't go. It's rude to her date and well for me? I work in a sausage fest environment why would I want to have that as my social life? I like being around girls way more than being around dudes. I gave this a good bit of thought. And honestly from my point of view, I think I would be more impressed by a girl who has more girl friends than guy friends. In my minds eye she would appear more secure in herslef. You girls can be kind of mean to each other. Who cares? Does she like to do the naked pretzel? I know of a few girls, some my friends some just engineering girls who are "collectors" but also appear to be prepetually single and or inable to esrtablish a stable relationship. On my recent dates I've gone out with two girls who I would call "collectors". And well I personally was just not interested. Not that I'm insecure but who wants to be out with his girl and her 5 or so guy friends who just happen to show up....and who she calls "friends". Personal opion on the matter is that girls who are "collectors" appear to be very very very insecure. I for one have a very hard tiem buying the "low drama" excuse. Thougths?
