Maybe it's just me, when I read your post, I expected to see the thread in this forum except it would be locked or a post with a link or something like that. I didn't expect to click on the thread link and be in a different forum all together. Does that make sense? Hmmm... maybe so, but I put in my 2 cypres's #. One that is 8 years old and needs to go for it's check ($306 without the check, $486 with) ($900 BASE, $100 batteries (i just paid that) and $180 for checks (I paid that also) 4 year old, just came back from it's 4 year and batteries installed in April ($676) The bottom line is, someone has to pay for the maintenance and batteries, it's not free. You can argue that a new one is $750, $850, whatever, but it is still going to cost you BASE Cypres price + batteries (5 sets) and maintenance (twice). I get your point you are trying to make, and TBH, I'd probably just buy new if I hada choice between a 4 yr old one for $700 or a new for $900.
