but is the minimum wage set too low at the moment? (you seem to accept that it has to be set) stay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding

adam, a worker isn't just a 'cog' in a business a new machine in your business has 'value' but it can't spend the money you would pay it - workers can, therebye boosting employment and the economy (remember it's simple economics that's got us to this point - simple thinking doesn't tell us how an aerofoil works) stay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding

no, it's a rise in the minimum wage (you keep confusing the two) i have a question - why was the minimum wage introduced in the usa stay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding

you're confusing me, a living person, with the ridiculous stereotypes and cliches that clutter your head (and mostly get filtered out in real people) a national health service works very well - for rich and poor alike (you'll like it!) stay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding

airdvr, are you calling me a banker? stay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding

no, it's not (you just think it is - but then you probably think the moon doesn't affect the tides) stay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding

is this the same simple economics that didn't predict the credit crunch and depression? mmmmmm..... stay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding

you know it makes sense - nice big servings of national health service all round! stay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding

i've already given proof (the uk introduction of a minimum wage about ten years ago) stay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding

you should read what adam smith actually said about 'companies' (remember real, living people make companies - not the other way round) stay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding

but you don't have any actual facts to hand (just your opinion that it's 'every time')? is that the big bankers government you're on about? stay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding

i'll think you'll find that doubling the minimum wage will definitely entice lazy people out to work - duh! (and if they're not already working who is supporting them?) stay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding

if you don't want to have trouble with medical bills then get a national health service asap! stay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding

so you're now saying that increasing the minimum wage doesn't increase unemployment - it's the taxes that do it (keep spinning, you'll get there eventually) minimum wage workers earning more will spend more, thus increasing tax revenue and, because they spend it quickly, employment and the economy will be boosted in a 'trickle-up' effect rather than the bankers 'trickle-down' conjob stay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding
-
you're predicting more unemployment but not telling when it has happened before - it's a myth in the uk we first introduced a minimum wage (about $8/hour and a national health service thrown in) only a few years back and unemployment went down - strange if you set the minimum wage too low all you do is suck spending power out of those who would most use/need it (decreasing the velocity of money) and drag in vast amounts of migrant labour to work stay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding

you have babies? (presumably lots of them) stay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding

nope, increasing the minimum wage doesn't increase unemployment (tell me when you think it has) stay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding

the new 'new deal' should obviously include a substantial increase in the minimum wage (at least doubling it). this will have the benefit of fewer workers drawing government benefits, reducing the demand for migrant labour and increasing the velocity of money (helping fight deflation) stay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding
