thx, i hope to start freeflying soon but ppl say i need like 100 belly jumps or so to be safe. plus i need to modify my racer with wolverine teeth and some new/more velcro too. anyways, i put my vid (Jake's First 4-Way RW (divx).avi) on pilot dave / andy man? 's site in the uploads section for anyone who enjoys watching skydiving videos. no music to it though, if anyone knows a good editor to do that please let me know. i might submit another one soon too of someone freeflying that's pretty cool. man, i need to get a camera bad! it's fun reliving the experience. especially when stuck at work

last one, this one really cracked me up because i didn't see Tim do this on video nor while jumping. only when i took the video and made each frame into a jpg did I notice. Tim does this like 4 times in the jump! Hilarious! (btw, i'm talking about that "peace sign" thing that everyone does and I see on all the videos. what do ya'll call that if anything?) lol Jumpers are such great ppl! oh yeah, on this pic it was about 5k and i was waving off telling ppl to SPLIT! cuz i was gonna track to 4 and pull. hehe

0:3:2 Did first 4-way RW jump with a motley crew consisting of me and another low timer, a freeflyer, and one good belly flyer and had a great non-funneled exit with everything going CRAZY once we hit terminal for some reason. (Bodies were flying everywhere, someone flew under me and I did a flip haha.) But me and the good belly dude docked back up, the freeflyer did a stand-up for a second (lol first time to see that) and then bellied back and the other dude was just zooming around everywhere. LOL. Very fun jump. Can't wait to do another. Also packed and jumped first pack-job all done by myself.

Gratz skyrose7! I jumped my own pack job for the first time this weekend as well! It opened a little hard and I thought something must be wrong so I did an extensive controllability check to make sure I wasn't going to have to cutaway. It was pretty scary because even though everything looked ok I could have swore it was diving or something. lol. Big psychological freakyness. Also jumped my own pack job again (with variation on the nose rolling) and got one line twist but a softer opening. I'm going to keep working with it until it's just right. =) I still have a lot to learn to make a really clean and fast pack. I also finished up every requirement for the A license this weekend (own pack job was last thing I had to do and really the toughest thing for me) and am going to mail off for it today or tommorow as well!

Interesting isn't it. Of course, it could be just because the disproportionate amount of computer geeks on the internet to begin with that find dropzone.com. Still, it might be worth investigating. Isn't that crazy stunt dude (forgot name but he flew plane to plane and car jump, etc.) on the Good Stuff video a "computer geek" too?

At my DZ when I had to do my first spot they had me open the door before giving any corrections at all so I could see better and especially so you could look straight down and yell cut right over the perfect spot! Sticking my head out when the engine was going full blast was a lot of fun! hehe That first hop-n-pop and cessna ride (jump 15) was a FUN jump! Scary as *&@#! for my AFF self (I almost never curse but I said "OH SH1T!" before diving off the step into what I recall as a wonderfully slow and stable wind compared to the super twin otter and felt very justified in expressing myself like that! -
undergraduate student in computer science and philosophy at louisiana state university. work at a chemical plant as a network technician/programmer part time (27+ hrs wk) to pay for jumping. graduate in december if all goes well.

heh, this reminds of that time that this one extreme feminist group decided that since the maths and sciences were mostly advanced through white men that they must be biased. lol. logic is logic is logic. while i have some male muslim friends and try not to discriminate based on race or ethnicity, etc, only a fool would disregard where the bulk of the threat of terrorism historically comes from. if it was white males that matched my description i would have no problem with profiling even if it meant i got searched every time. that's life and reality.

Yes, he would have been saved, but by that point although Hitler would have been able to be saved he probably would have been unwilling. Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe and Aristotle's analogy of the drunkard provide insights into exactly this sort of thing. The idea is that through repeatedly sinning Faustus hardened his heart until he was unwilling to repent.(but still technically able according to Christian theology) Aristotle's analogy of the drunkard is like this as far as I can remember: a man drinks one or two beers every now and then and enjoys them, but can really quit any time he wants. Then he drinks one more than usual the next time but he can still quit whenever and doesn't have to drink regularly. But the next time he drinks one more than usual. Then one more. Then one more. etc. Over time the man loses the ability to quit whenever he wants and becomes a drunkard. Like Faustus, Hitler may have been crying out in anguish and torment over his sins and his inevitable damnation at the last, but nevertheless unwilling to truly repent because of the repeated damage he had done to his soul over time. It is one thing to be sorry for your sins because you don't want to be a piece of human bacon in a frying pan. It's another thing to repent of those sins because you realize that they grieve God, hurt other people, and are truly wrong. -Sinkster

You are correct, I just bought a new Altimaster 3 which is now known as the Altimaster Galaxy and has a replaceable lens and works up to 18k MSL instead of 15k MSL (good for u high altitude land dwellers) and has larger numbers and some other small tweaks, but it only comes with a 10 year warranty. Still pretty dang good imo though. BTW, Dave, thanks for your awesome site! I downloaded the whole thing (4.6 gigs) a couple weeks ago and watch all the movies during the boring week days. =) -
As far as a manner of government, etc. yes, but the point was that the government which makes the law was to be founded on the objective principle that men are created by God to be 'equal' and have certain indisputable rights. Is the right to free speech only because the government lets us have free speech? No, the right is supposed to exist whether or not the government lets us have it or not. Furthermore, if the right to life (for example) was only a notion of the willingness of our government to protect that right then the right would be meaningless because once the government decided to take away that right by force it would cease to be a right unless there is an *objective* basis for that right. The point is that the government does not give those rights, but rather secures the already existing rights that exist independent of the government. This is why we can say that China is wrong for its blatent human rights violations even though as a government it does not agree. I definitely agree that there is a difference between the two, especially since the first is an act of evil which affects others and not just the evil doer. The second is an act which might affect the doer, but probably won't affect anyone else--so we should respect the free will, autonomy, and dignity of the individual to decide if he/she should to go to church or not. Still, both are moral propositions, and propositions like the second can have an objective truth to the matter about whether it is right or wrong if the notion of right and wrong exists. I take it that you believe we should be able to do whatever we damn well please as long as it doesn't negatively affect anyone else and I agree that we should have the freedom to do so. My argument was simply that between the hard-set atheist and the very religious person like you pointed out, there is still an objective truth of the matter as to who is right. You said that "Neither is any more right than the other.", but if there is no God is the religious person's viewpoint that there is a God no more right than the atheists'? Likewise, if there is a God can the atheists' viewpoint be equally right? You see, there can't both be a God and not a God existing at the same time, it is logically impossible in any universe. Therefore, either the hard-set atheist or the very religious person is more right! (or the Hindu is more right if there are millions of gods) Their viewpoints are simply not equally valid even though we may disagree about who is right or not. -Sinkster

Then you must believe that humans have some kind of *objective* value to them that does not depend on some fancy. But why is our government considered to be fair? Is it because it was founded on the belief that perhaps "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed"? Bill, I think you are more of an objectivist than you realize. I can't think of any true subjectivists who can live out their own moral system without massive problems. -Sinkster

hehe, I'm just using that as a hypothetical example to make a point. I'm definitely not a genius. And yes, you are so correct about me taking that example from Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment! Raskolnikov escapes the law, but he can't escape his conscience. You got some good learning in you! =) -Sinkster P.S. Why can't I kill them again? If I believe it is right to kill and morality is subjective what does it matter morally speaking? Oh, I see, the law with the hand of the government behind it will punish me if I murder. I guess that's why laws are considered moral since you can be punished for breaking them. In that case I will simply use my genius to murder someone while at the same time escaping the hand of the law. I guess might makes right after all. Neitzsche would be proud. -Sinkster
