Welcome Back Snow...It is about time! So you and 377 been hanging out eh? How do I get in on some of that action? Any new developments the last 2 months or so?
-
I notice in the handwritten flight crew notes they say DBC was about 6'1" 175# with black hair age 50. Now, given the fact that he was also a chain smoker, what are the odds he is still alive? I mean he would be 88 years old. lets say he was 40 at the time of the Hijack...That would leave him at 78 years old today. Much more possible that he could still be among us. I keep trying to put myself into his mind...It would be pretty hard for me not to leave something behind that linked me to the crime. I mean a lot of the world looks at him as a Cult Hero...I know the FBI and Flight crew beg to differ!

[edit]: There is evidence we could havre discussed but did not - people including the Great Snowmman and Sluggo Supreme and Jo the Illusionist missed it. I dont know why they missed it. They just did. I guess this forum is Forensic Kinderschool or people had other agendae? Oh well... nothing ventured, nothing gained. Jo must continue. She is the backbone of this Kinderschool. Georger, throw a bone out there. I am willing to discuss any new topics. I have a lot of thoughts on the case, but I am always fearful of rehashing things your group has already discussed.

I guess it depends on what point in the trip he would have asked for them. Once he made his intentions known, I think it's pretty safe to say he got whatever he wanted without paying for it. Jo is clearly convinced she knows who Cooper was and therefore feels she is able to state unequivocally all sorts of things. As per her post above. (yet she can't understand why people challenge her "facts".) As this thread continues to head towards a situation where it will be nothing but Jo posting her rantings and the odd other conspiracy theorist popping in, it is no wonder that posters with any insight and value to add to the real Cooper debate have been gradually dropping out. When it dies a quiet death, which it looks like it will soon, Quade at least will have one less hassle in his life!! Jo, if you have ANY cards left to play now may be the time. I see no logical reason why you would hold anything back at this point. I mean, either you have some solid inpormation to verify your claims or you do not. You do not want to waste another 13 years bantering about your claims on a forum. Now is the time to start up a blog, or write a book, or whatever. Just take those reams of information you have and start writing.

We just need some fresh information to dig into! Hopefully there will be some forthcoming soon.

377, A big Trivia Contest. Snow has some of the best google skills I have seen. Where have you been? I miss reading your posts.

Hey Tom, How is your paper coming? Are you going to be able to release any findings? Any updates would be wonderful! Snow, Big contest starts Today!

I think the FBI has always wanted to solve this case and still does. I just don't buy the theory that they are conspiring to keep DBCs real identity a secret. I think even if DBC were a CIA or FBI agent they'd still want it solved and publicized, especially this long after the crime. 377 Reply: Forgive me 377, I pulled WAY too much silver last night... Point Taken. Certain individuals within the FBI want(ed) the case solved...Ralph, Larry, many of the old agents involved in the case worked very hard to solve this thing. But when you have the Seattle, the Reno and the Portland office all working the case you need cooperation. Ego gets in the way as is human nature, and each bureau holds back a few tantalizing pieces of information that never come together to build the whole puzzle. It has been reported that the case file is over 60 volumes thick! Over 1000 suspects! Back in 1971 we did not have super computers to bring all of the information together. All the FBI needs to do now is turn over everything they have to the DZ community and we can solve this thing! I bet there are a whole bunch of jumpers on that suspect list. I bet a handful of them post on DZ.com!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090415/ap_on_re_us/air_america_documents Sorry, I do not know how to make a clicky. It really would make pretty good sense that a former CIA/Air America employee was DBC. He would have had the knowledge, training and perhaps the reason for the 'grudge'. The FBI must have beat this angle to death, unless they never wanted it solved...

So Coop spent all that time hiding out in the Lav...What was he doing? a) Actually using the bathroom. b) Gearing Up? Perhaps he had some boots in the Briefcase with the 'bomb'. (Was it ever established how big this briefcase was?) c) Communicating with someone on the ground? Walkie Talkie in the bag or Briefcase? d) Listening in on the flight crew comms? e) Getting High!?

Some comments from Ckret during a 'conversation' with AggieDave (much missed here) & others last year: 1 June: June 19: Amazing!! WOW, that would have been my first move. Just imagine when the FBI gets to running the prints through the system and find a match. There would be some major explaining to do!

Snowman is free to post if he chooses. Maybe Snow is joining Sluggo. I see he made a post on his blog stating that he was no longer posting here...

From Coast to Coast on 3-7-09. In the first hour, attorney Galen Cook provided an update on his investigation of D.B. Cooper, the notorious hijacker who in 1971 parachuted from an airliner with a $200,000 ransom and vanished without a trace. Cook said he recently made contact with Florence Schaffner, one of the flight attendants aboard the hijacked aircraft and an eyewitness to the crime. Schaffner was sent photos of the D.B. Cooper suspect, Bill Gossett (see D.B. Cooper Photos), and told Cook that Gossett looks very much like the man she saw on the plane that day. Schaffner also revealed to Cook that D.B. Cooper had been wearing makeup to darken his skin. Sounds like Schaffner was convinced DB was wearing makeup. No Accent, makeup to make himself look darker...Must be a Midwesterner eh Georger!

One irony of Jo's concern for the Raleigh cigarette butts, since Jo says Duane smoked Raleigh, is it may very well have been swabs from the butts or the butts themselves and genetic evidence from these, that ruled Duane out! So Jo's concern for the missing butts may be pure irony on the one hand, and a disappointment on the other - Jo, Do you have any photo that would indicate Duane smoked Raleigh? I am sure that would help your cause. I wonder what was in that bag...I mean who carries a paper bag on a plane anyway.
-
We don't know that any prints are "missing". Ckret said there are a bunch of prints that they have not been able to match to anyone. Should Cooper ever surface, it seems there is a good chance they would be able to match the prints. The only thing "missing" is a viable suspect whose prints match some of those on the plane. Weber was excluded on this basis, and I seem to recall Gossett was as well. (Talking of which ...anyone heard any news on the Cook book?) Good points Orange. It would be a real shame though if the FBI has not run the prints through the Crime database lately. One would tend to think this was not DBC's first crime. Speaking Gossett, I wonder if it would be possible to run the suspected DBC prints to all Military personal of the day. I will try and get an update on the Cook Book.
-
Not only the missing butts, but the missing prints as well! Coop had to have left a whole slew of prints on that plane...the only thing I can think of is that maybe he had some of that rubber cement on the tips of his fingers as not to leave any prints. I think the Zodiac killer once confessed to doing that as to not leave any prints behind. Maybe that is where Coop got the idea. Same timeframe, same part of the country. Jo, you should change your copyright to 2009.

Perhaps we could get some of that 'Truth Serum' and give a dose to Jo....Wait a minute...This according to Wiki on the reliability: According to information obtained by public disclosure, sodium Amytal can be highly unreliable, with subjects apparently freely mixing fact and fantasy. Much of the claimed effect relies on the belief of the subject that they cannot tell a lie while under the influence of the drug. It has also been said that the use of sodium amobarbital does not increase truth-telling, but merely increases talking; therefore, truth is more likely to be revealed, but so are lies. Maybe Jo is already taking Truth Serum! Just messing with you Jo!

Orange, well put. You are the new voice or reason. 377 is fired How hard is it to stay on course flying manually? I keep on thinking back to snow's flight simulations he made up a while back and it seemed he was veerring off course quite a bit. Jerry, your whole theory hinges on the pilots trying to avoid populated areas in case the plane blew up, that is why he lands in the forest, correct? Georger said it best when he said we needed some input from NWA. They most likely hold all of the missing pieces.
-
I think Jerry has some real good intentions, but how on earth can anyone determine a DZ with the info currently available. It has more holes in it than swiss cheese. I would agree to go on a search with you Jerry, if I knew we had some evidence to search a given area. Otherwise it is all just one big crapshoot. I often wondered if Coop just threw out a few stacks of bills from the plane intending it to be found to throw off the search. There would be no way three bundles would stay together in it's freefall though...Could they?
-
Why did the FBI devote so many resources to the initial search area? They must have gathared the information from the flight crew. Why would Rat and or Scott never 'bother' to let the FBI know they were searching in the wrong location until 10 years after the fact?!?!? There are some things that just do not add up.
-
that's a cool idea. Haven't people extended it so you have to do a multi-step adventure or something...i.e. you have to get the one clue to find out where the next one is, etc? But if people, gasp, actually went into the woods where Cooper might have been, wouldn't they die? My take from the experts here on the forum is that they would. Especially if it got down to 40 degrees. Then they would all die. Is the only thing that saves people from dying in the woods a GPS? No wonder the world is overpopulated. GPS was a worse invention that penicillin! Yeah, they have Multi-caches. The first cache could be located at Tena Bar and then the others could cover the so called 'Hot Spots' Jerry thinks the remains could be located. A lot of the GeoCachers I know are pretty hardcore so they would leave no stone unturned in their search. 377, do the Lavs in a 727 have any 'Hiding spots'? Maybe coop stashed a few survival items in there before he brought attention to himself. Then during his extended stay in the john he was able to gear up a little better than anyone thinks.
-
There are 4247 GeoCaches hidden in Zip Code 98660. That is a lot of foot traffic covering all sorts of areas within the area of the Money find. I know around here there are some Caches hidden in some VERY remote areas. Maybe Jerry could set up a 'Cooper Cache' with a bunch of background info on the case. I think Sluggo is pretty big into GeoCaching. Imagine the possibilities! A whole network of folks looking for clues while GeoCaching the remote areas.
-
I believe that if Cooper was from Canada or the upper Midwest he would have no trouble in regards to the weather. Georger can probably attest to that living in Iowa. Now, if he was a SoCal guy, and was not used to harsh tempatures it is a different story. He may have also had a lot of experience in rough terrian if he was Military. Plus, there is a whole lot of incentive to live with close to 200K on your person. Now, if he lost the money on the way down, he may have been much more apt to 'Give up the fight'.
-
I know this has been discussed countless times, but it is just really hard for me to imagine that some loner with no job, no ties to the outside world could no pull and not be missed. Are there really people out there that have no ties to anything? Ted K was a good example, but even he had his brother. If this guy corkscrewed into the ground he had to have been missed somehow.

Nice Job 377. I always appreciate your efforts to resotre order when things get snippy. Wasn't Geroger working with a facial recognition team a while back? Whatever became of that project? How is Tom doing with his research?
