You're being screwed because the BPA over regulates EVERYTHING, and many of those regulations are based on a minority's opinion. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
-
Do you? I do. It is still the reponsibility of the individual leaving the A?C to ensure they do it in a safe maner. That's what being cleared to self jumpmaster is all about. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Because thousands of jumps are done out of that A/C type yearly. The blame rests solely on the jumper. Exits can be done safely out of many A/C, and sometime people become so focused on one aspect of a jump that they forget about other variables. Your argument that it wouldn't have happened if it was a Twin Otter is a bit weak. It's exactly like saying some guy who hooked him self in on a 90 Velo would have been alright on a 190 Sabre, and then blaming the canopy. Ludicrous All the Otter purists are going to be in for a shock in the next 5 to 10 years when they disappear from skydiving as the airframes time out. It will happen sooner than later. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Blaming the aircraft for that is a mistake. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Guns, Cops and Starbucks Coffee.....

I think you're in more danger from the asshole who is just pulling out of the Starbucks Drive Thru when you walk out the door.... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
I'd say half that statement is correct.

While it is cocooned there is really nothing to cause it to spin. Even signifigant harness input won't have an effect till the tail comes open and the bottom skin begins to inflate..... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

For TIs with Skyhook chops and non Skyhook chops
diablopilot replied to efs4ever's topic in Instructors
I would argue that it DOES have something to do with the SkyHook deployment. The airspeed of the deployment is suposed to be so low that there may not be enough force to bring the slider down all the way. Simple to pump the brakes and get the slider down, doesn't sound like a big problem, but it is related. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. I disagree. What about a tight roll of the tail is going to cause an asymetrical condition? Line twists (recoverable or not) are generaly produced either through an interaction between the back and continer (or riser hang up of sorts) or through an asymetrical inflation of the canopy AFTER bottom skin inflation. The first can be mitigated by clean packing of bag into container and good body position in the pull sequence, and the later through harness shifting and proper nose treatment. IMO the tail treatment has very little to do with heading control on deployment. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

AFAIK, Icarus Canopise is a company that was formed of serveal persons, some of which included George Galloway, Simon Mundell, Jyro, the company in spain that builds most of them now, and others..... Not sure entirely who still holds shares in the company, but NZ Aerosports is the company that provided the designs. AFAIK Daedalus Canopies has no direct relation to Icarus, and the designs are still orginating from Jyro (NZ Aerosports), with lots of input from Jim and his flight team. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Riggers and manufactuers..MB for reserve handle?
diablopilot replied to Sky15's topic in Gear and Rigging
A Martin Baker Handle? I don't think so. There are several "non-standard" smaller "D" rings out there right now, but haven't seen an MB. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -

I did have a bit of concern as to the longevity of the mess on the sliders. *** The what? Did you mean mesh? Do the larger Katanas really have mesh sliders? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

If you could design the perfect rig...
diablopilot replied to ntrprnr's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've heard of 1. In 7 years. On the other hand, I've heard of 4 in three months with throw outs. Not saying either system is perfect, but the odds...... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
