Tom, I'm disappointed in you. I didn't realize that you were so sheltered. Keely, don't make fun of the wuffos...... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

I have a greater appreciation for the dangers of this sport now, than I ever did as a student. Fear is one tool I use to keep me alive. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

2006 USPA Swoop Nationals & Wildwood Boogie
diablopilot replied to rickroe's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Paying a $25 boogie registration and fun jumping at $20 a pop is a lot different for $58+ hop and pops. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -

Do you jump with an AAD? (turned on)

Yes. It might mean I pick the right equipment, but yes. Do you really rely on your reserve? I mean how much faith can you really put in a canopy you didn't even pack? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -

Bravo. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
Think about it. When you start to hack away at the reserve, and manage to get through a riser or two of line groups, you've gone froma slow speed malfiunction that may be stable enough for you to find the line groups to cut, to a high speed malfunction where you'll ahve little chance of being able to successfully cut the remainin line groups. My bet would be to put out the main and then deal with the two out the best I could. I had a friend go through this scenario and he chose not to put out the main. He still walks this earth so who can fault his plan. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

What if you forget to uncollapse the slider and the resulting hard opening damages the main canopy, bruises the jumper and leads to a reserve ride? I am just curious what you think as a packer (the incidents like that had happened before) If you hand your rig to a packer with the brakes unstowed and the slider collapsed, you might as well just got for a ride as a tandem passenger. Look out for yourself. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

diablopilot replied to rickroe's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Not only is the $315 fee for 9 jumps an unbelivievable fee to ask, but the $215 fee is nearly twice what it cost to register for an event at the past couple nationals. $530 for 9 jumps? The fact USPA is allowing this to happen is an outrage. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
No, just no one jumps there for long. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

I never said that. I simply don't have enough experience to know that. A long time DHC-6 pilot might be able to answer that better than you or I. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Yeah, I'm sure that's it. Say, you don't have a small penis do you? Maybe JP sold it because he wanted to buy other expensive toys. Maybe JP got tired of trying to deal with the "experts" (read: kids with credit cards) Maybe JP got tired of seeing people do things in an unsafe and willy-nilly way (like jumping a wingsuit sans legstraps, and putting up jumpers with less than 150 jumps who are still having trouble tracking in a straight line) when trying to provide a structured learning environment. Maybe JP is just an asshole. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
It's a good idea because the FAA mandates you have a seatbelt on for takeoff and if a pilot chute should get out the door while someone is seatbelted to the A/C......... What makes you assume that? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
-
What's negligent about that? It's generaly accepted as a good idea to shut it for TO, but the aircraft is certified to fly with the door removed by the FAA. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
