That's a manufacturer's requirement, and for good reason. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

IF There Was a 'Cure' For Skydiving, Would You Take It?
diablopilot replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
After 5700 jumps, there is no way I'm still doing it for the adrenalin rush. In fact, I don't think that was ever the case. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
whats so wrong with a round reserve??
diablopilot replied to jasleegoyne's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Oh yeah, forgot, these guys are in Florida too.... Strong Enterprises Headquarters 11236 Satellite Blvd. Orlando, Florida 32837, USA Toll Free: (800) 344-6319 I'll bet they could pack it for ya. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
Because this sport is about personal responsibility. If your isntructors word and assurance is not enough for you, then you have two options. Learn to pack and pack yourself, or pay for someone you do trust to pack it. If you go back and are worried about the gear, ask the instructor if he/she would jump it. If they say yes, and you trust them, then jump it, if you don't trust them, you shouldn't jump with them. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. I think that you were not prepared to jump at all, and the rigging issue was a convinient excuse. There is nothing wrong with the Instructor poining out a problem, however he/she should do what it take to ensure that it has been resolved to your comfort level. if that means a repack of the main, and you're willing to pay for it, so be it. It is your responsibility to not board the aircraft untill you are ready to jump. You lost the money because you boarded the A/C before you were ready to jump. No one will ever FORCE you on board. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

No tracking in DZ hire kit/rigs?????
diablopilot replied to apb's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
No, because you showed up with your gear out of date, and then got whiney when the told you their might be some conditions to using theirs. No wonder I never lend my gear out. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
Do you have the same results with the cover removed? What kind of, and where in your helmet is the device mounted? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Would you install non-original equipment on a rig?
diablopilot replied to PhreeZone's topic in Gear and Rigging
VSE made one at request for me, I'm still testing it to see if I see any benifit from it, but so far it works well. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
would you fail a student for canopy control issues?

Fuck that. I'm not here to make people feel wam and fuzzy about poor performance, I'me here to make safe skydivers. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -

whats so wrong with a round reserve??
diablopilot replied to jasleegoyne's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
There is nothing "wrong" with a round reserve. It has some advantages and disavantages. It limits the winds and areas you should jump in. Many newer seinor riggers don't have the tools, knowlage, or experience to deal with them. The landing can be less than graceful. They are more reliable opening in less than perfect body positions. They are able to take high speed openings better, They react better with damage. Keep looking for a rigger, there are plenty in FL. Check with the loft at Z-Hills maybe. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -

diablopilot replied to PhreeZone's topic in Gear and Rigging
According to the FARs, as long as they DON'T have a rigging ticket, they can perform such a mod on their own gear. AH, but if instead they use a properly designed system for the same, then there is no wear point created. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. If that $2700 is inclusive to your "A" licence, and includes the 30 minutes of coached tunnel time, then it's not a bad deal. You should end up learning quite alot from it. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

To all those in support of the mother, if instead of a 2 year old, it had been a dog, you all would have been pissed off at the inability of the owner to control it. A 2 year old is a hell of alot smarter than a dog. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

diablopilot replied to skybytch's topic in Instructors
I understand what you are saying, and have no furthur point to make, I just wanted to express that when I say, "you" I'm not targeting you Travis, I know you're a good instructor, we just see things in different ways, and can learn from that. Or in other words, I'm more warm and fuzzy in person than online. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
Wow, what an ethical dilema that would be. On one had there would be the desire to do my utmost as an instructor and offer the best of my abilities as I do to all my students. On the other.... "Paris, when we land I want you to have you feet behind us...." I'd probably just pass on the jump. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

would you fail a student for canopy control issues?
diablopilot replied to skybytch's topic in Instructors
So when a student does a CAT E and completes all the freefall maneuvers but fails to pull on time thus requiring you to dump them out, do you simply tell them they must pull on the next skydive? Not one of my students will make it to CAT C without showing me they know how to fly a pattern. It is assumed that an AFF instructor is a Freefall instructor, and they are, but the full job is that of a SKYDIVING INSTRUCTOR and if we're not doing that, we're doing the sport and our students a disservice. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. would you fail a student for canopy control issues?
diablopilot replied to skybytch's topic in Instructors
Because the entire jump needs to be passed, not just a portion. If you continue to pass someone who is going to be a danger to themselves and others when under canopy, you're doing the individual and the sport a disservice. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
