  1. Just a curious thought, how many other 18 year old jumpers are there out there? I know there are young jumpers out there, but my general census is that the sport is mainly dominated by people that are somewhere in there twenties... just a random thought.
  2. I have been officially diagnosed with ADD, and I don't see a problem with me skydiving. If anything, I know that I have ADD and I'm prone to poor planing/wandering focus, (I'm not a fuckin squirrel tho. Some people think that is what ADD/ADHD does to a person. lol), If anything, having ADD has made me more aware of what I need to do. I have a routine mental checklist which I run through every dive, and by repetition I've started to drill it into my brain. besides the prep work for a dive, I've never forgot something like to pull, and how and when to flare. As it has been said above, the first skydive I make in a day gives me plenty of adrenalline to last the day
  3. I'm just of student status, RSL, no question about it. The day that fate decides to send me for a hell ride, I'd appreciate any extra help I can get.
  4. To the person above who mentioned someone landing in the hangar, check this out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQv1-fihGv8 Stupid hurts, and the sad thing is this guy propbly is relativly experienced... stupid, but experienced.
  5. hahaha, don't scare the poor girl, let her be naive for the first jump! All of that stuff is learned during the first jump course when you learn about mals and stuff, lol. Your first jump is going to be amazing! and be warned, it's extremely addicting! Make sure you get video, the money is well worth it! Welcome to the sport, blue ones.
  6. third DZ... I thought their was only one... maybe it was a different island...
  7. Hi all, I'm relatively new off of student status, and I'm looking to get some gear. I've come across a auction for a PD-230 nine cell, as well as a PD-235 seven cell. PD-230 nine cell manufactured in 10/1993, with 900 jumps on it. PD-235 seven cell manufactured in 5/1995 with only 380 jumps on it. I think I'd prefer the nine cell. Although it's a little older than the seven cell, I like it due to the greater horizontal glide ratio. My only concern is that they are both F-111 canopies; I know that F-111 canopies have a shorter life span than ZP, so I'm thinking that 900 jumps is starting to become a little much on the porous material. I know that new canopies now a days do both ZP and F-111, but the mainstay now is all ZP. I'd like to get a ZP canopy, but canopies in my particular range are hard to find, and money is tight. I was wondering if any of you out there with personal experience could give me your thoughts on the PD nine or seven cell canopies, thanks all!!! Pete
  8. Otter at Eloy!!! beats the shit out of the cesna at home, lol. Courtesy of Eloy their is one more licensed skydiver in this world,
  9. From my experience I felt that the more time I waited around the more apprehensive I became. I did 7 jumps in IL then had to wait a month or two before taking a vacation to AZ to finish up my licensing due to winter... That month of waiting was horrible, I went back and forth in my head with, "you don't want do do this!!!" countered by, "You really want to do this!!!". despite the mental battle, I was still hooked. I logged on tho DZ.com every day and I couldn't get enough of skydiving. However, at the same time looking back at it I feel that if I spent more time not obsessing over skydiving and maybe staying away from DZ.com and etc, I would have been much less apprehensive, about the entire thing. This would probably work out better if it wasn't winter, but put the damn book down, get off the internet and go make a skydive! It's almost as simple and easy as that =] Blue skies -Pete
  10. yeah I agree, I just thought that it might have been a good deal... I see otherwise now lol
  11. The asking price is 200 dollars for a Fury that was made in 98, with 300 jumps on it.
  12. Now I see why I couldn't find it in the gear section. In honesty, the only reason I considered it was because it was a good deal... now I think I'll buy something else, thanks all!
  13. I've had the dreams before, and it's always the weird impossible shit like what you described... It's just anxiety getting into your subconscious, just take a deep breath and remember what you've learned. I think everyone kind goes through what you go through. Even guys with thousands of jumps get butterflies still, try getting them to admit it tho
