Why? I dont get it...why do they still dye them red? I had such a taste for them, went to the store downstairs here....all they had left are the red ones. Now my fingers are all red. Sigh... Awe...buddy....when I need to go and get re-current you can be the one to take me up... Make you feel any better? On a serious note....Rainbo isnt kidding with his earlier posts. He truly has a heart of gold when it comes to the newbies! I remember when i was still a wee lil girl in the sport getting to hear all the stories and tips and information from him. I have over the last 3 years watched him consistantly show this same level of caring for the newbies to everyone.

Not TRUE! We jump at the same dz. We see everyone's landings (and they see all mine for good or bad!). And sadly, sometimes we hear the thump and the people crying out 'CALL 911!'....We do not want to see that! I want to clarify my statement. I do know what you mean however. No one wants to have anyone crater. When this shit happens it effects everyone in this sport...the DZ it happens at and your family. This is a general statment to all those out there. My statment was more ment along the lines of you need to do this shit on your own, no one will be there to tell you how to handle a mal when it happens. NO ONE...you and you alone need to learn and understand what to do when the shit hits the fan. Once you deploy your canopy you are alone, there is no on there that will talk to you and tell you what to do. So what happens when that mal arises and you crater...that is your choice to stop that. If you didnt take the time to ask questions on how to deal that is your problem not anyone elses. You cannot expect everyone to do everything for you. The "poor me" they didnt teach me, or they didnt do this or they didnt do that thing will get you killed...Period. To be completely honest...that is life in general. When people start yelling it is out of fear of what could be. NO ONE wants anyone to die or get hurt. When we see stuff that could be prevented, or see someone who has an attitude about things...this is angering. Those are the people that dont get it, and dont learn or for that matter dont even listen. Those people get hurt or killed. If we didnt give a shit, we wouldnt say anything, just let these people crater...hell it is natrual selection right? NO sigh... I'm kinda slow sometimes, please explain this to me. What "thing" did you fall into? Being an attractive girl , our instruction is often times half-assed. A guy is gonna get better more thorough intruction b/c he is a guy, an attractive girl, maybe not always the case, but flirting often takes the place of a thorough education. I know of SEVERAL girls who have expierenced this, and mine was doubly bad b/c I am attractive and I b/c I was a jumpers wife.... Ok...Im sorry but YOU LET THAT HAPPEN... Im not a model but im sure as hell not ugly. I asked many many questions during FJC and to this day still think proactivly. This is what I mean by taking responsibility for yourself. You must not have taken the risk seriously then, cause I know I did, and wanted to learn everything I could about how to be safe. Never assume people will tell you everything...they wont. I do not and will not ever accept that excuse...bullshit. Get over yourself and start using your brain instead of your "attractivness" This shit angers me. And women wonder why we get treated as though we are stupid. She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto

And if you do live on the edge, you need to be prepared to take the responsibility for your own mistakes. That statement right there is Key here.....Im sorry you got hurt. But ya know what NO ONE But ourselves are responsible for our safety. In your post Misty you start blaming everyone else for the fact. You make your own decisions. There are a lot of things that you need to be proactive and ask about, think about and question. NO ONE is going to hold your hand. All said and done no one else is going to be there when you crater. These decisions are yours to make no one elses. What does this mean? and this goes for everyone. You are soley responsible for learning what you need to be safe, this is not a game this is not a joke. This sport can and will kill you...if you let it or if it so desires. You cannot become complacient and assume you know it all...guess what you dont, none of us do. This sport progresses and grows at such a speed that most cannot keep up. Im tired of hearing the "im good I know what im doing" "im different then the rest" "Poor me, no one told me" Ya know what it is alll bullshit. It is the same story everytime someone gets hurt. The truth....people fucked up. Period. Bad decisioins = bad concequences....period. ok im done venting.... Wow it has been 2 years already. I remember after I graduated AFP in 2001...he was so upset that he didnt get to do a single one of my AFP jumps...yea some could say that was cause I was a girl, etc. But there was a deep down love for ALL of his students that he had. I will for ever have the smile he had on his face on that last jump he did with Gretchen and I hours before the accident. He was so enthusiastic about jumping with all the people out there...early that morning Gretchen and I were going to do up and do a fun lil 2 way drill dive. Roger came walking up and asked if he could join us...we said sure! Ended up being a free for all....it was so much fun just goofing off...he was smiling from ear to ear! Blue skies Roger...and thank you again for giving me the gift of human flight! When did they chage the requirements for licenses??

Dont need D to do night jumps...you need night jumps to get your D. She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto -

Never said that wasnt the case. I was doing shit with less then 200 jumps that some people with 500 jumps couldnt do. My point....200 jumps in most cases....does not make you a "master" skydiver. The change was primarily made to make the US match the rest of the world. Most other organizations require 500 jumps for the "D" license. I hate to break it to you but this sport is not cheep. The license numbers were increased to make the meaning of the D license fit a bit more with the rest of the world when it comes to ratings. The last thing that USPA is going to worry about when doing this is "oh no it is going to cost Johnny more money to get his D rating" They do it because they expect more from a jumper in order to hold that rating. If there is no skill then there is no reason to give the license. Yea doing 500 hop and pops is great, but then that jumper has no skill in Freefall...Same thing with doing nothing but 100's of solos. It is great, but that jumper has no clue what they are doing relative to others or if they are doing what ever they are trying right. For all they know they are backsliding across the sky. I had the 200 jumps in before they changed it, just didnt have the chance to get my night jumps in for various reasons. I really dont care If I have my D or not, im more concerned with quality of the jumps I do, not the quantity. The tunnel time doesnt actually count towards any license. But the skills learned there will definatly show in the sky....The tunnel is an amazing learning tool. 5 hours of time and counting....now shoulder must heal so I can use it!!!! That is it 100%...All of the relationships i have had that really went to shit, not the ones that just didnt work, but the ugly ones were because one of us or both of us were not communicating. I have tried very hard to be upfront with communicating things and am not a fan of lying. I find it very hard to get the same out of most of the guys I dated. If people would learn that communication about things is key...and that is the good and the bad stuff it would make these relationships soo much easier to deal with. I would say that Im living in a pipe dream thinking that I will find someone that I can have that kind of relationship, someone I can talk to and will talk to me and be honest. I have seen it happen, maybe not yet for me, but it is possible..just maybe one day that person will come around. Till then I continue life as it is as there is so much to live. Ok I finally got my shit together and got the pics into the computer...so here we go.. I finally went for surg May 20th. I was originally diagnosed with a Torn Rotator cuff and a tear of the Glenoid Labral. My best friend of 17 years Sonja took me to the hospital for surgery as this was done outpatient. I used to work at this hospital, and I knew as an employee it was a great hospital. But now I was there as a patient. I just have to say that the whole proceedure was handled and done so professionally, all the way from pre-op thru discharge. Anyway, I get into Pre-Op and Sonja was in there with me. Now she and I have been friends since we were 14. Met skating a half pipe been best freinds ever since. When things get stressfull the both of us revert back to the teen years. So of course we have to start goofing off in Pre-op. We had the nurse joking with us too...it was great. She was outstanding, great personality and lots of patience. I have very tiny veins that like to hide. She took her time, and nailed the IV first try. Anyway, sonja and I are sitting there acting like a couple of 16 year olds, (oh one tid bit, we were born on the same day of the same year too). In comes walking this dude in scrubs...the pants were two sizes too small. Course Sonja starts cracking jokes, we are sitting there cracking up. He turns around walkes over and says "Hi Renee Im Dr soandso and I am your anestiaologist. Then starts explaining shit to me. I am struggling not to start cracking up cause all that is stuck in my mind at the moment is sonja saying that dude has a crack problem....pants too tight. And they really were... He finishes his speech and off he goes. Next victim....In comes walking another dude, again the normal CDH scrubs...and white rubber boots. Sonja being the ever aware one asks why the hell the stick the CDH logo on the ass?? I start loosing it again laughing my ass off....then goes on to say she wants the boots for the ER (she works in an ER). I look over, course he is standing with his back turned towards us...he turns around ....and over he comes....yup...it was my Surgeon Again there we are caryying on and laughing. I was waiting for us to get kicked out of there... Anyway they finally hauled me off...I remember going into the OR...scooting onto the operating table...and thats it. Woke up in recovery. That was the smoothest I have ever been put out and woke up. My completements to DR. Tightpants. I wake up in recovery...Nurse asks if I need anything..I say yea...I gotta pee. Go thru the whole routine of bed pan which I refuse and will wait till i can get up. She finally goes to move me to the secondary recovery. I get situated in the recliner....then go for my lil walk. come back, get situated again. Suddenly I have 4 nurses standing in front of me...finally one speaks. "So I hear you skydive" I laugh and say yea, answer questions, then explain how the injury was more climbing related and the whole story. I guess I was running my mouth in recovery half out of it Anyway, the surgery went good, however they found something once they had me out and were in there. I have a genetic trait which causes me to have very flexible ligaments. Problem is when they get stretched out due to injury this becomes a problem. This is where my problems came in. My ligaments in my right shoulder were so stretched out when my shoulder was sitting idle completely relaxed it was sitting half out of socket. What it should look like is 1correct What my shoulder was doing relaxed is 2notcorrect if you notice the ridge that is the end of the labrum of the socket. They had to take and tighten down 3 of the ligaments in my shoulder with anchors and string 3anchorsaway1 and 4anchorsaway2. As things were a dislocation was eminent. When was the question. But It was caught before any major damage was done to my shoulder or to me for that matter. A dislocation in FF is really not something I would want to deal with. The Labral and the cuff were not quite as damaged as the MRI showed, however those flags saved me having to deal with further damage. My shoulder is now fixed. Just need to rebuild the strength and flex back. It is all good from here. I will say this...dont fuck with your shoulder. I have learned quite abit through all of this. You shoulder is the most flexible and movable joint on your body. But with that comes the fact it is the least stable and easily damaged. If something is damaged go get it looked at. Also understand this once integrity of the joint is evident, it will not just get better in all cases. That instability will be there, and continued abuse to that joint will do more and more damage. This goes for any joint/ligament damage. I had ACL surgery back in 1993 and was so glad. Im in the same place with my shoulder. My season is done, but I know that my shoulder is again stable and I will have a stable healthy shoulder in a few months...ok doc says 6, I think I can do it in 4 but still. Big picture is the future and not now. I would rather give up 6 months of my life now to fix something then risk possibly doing enough damage to ruin me for life. Sorry for the long post...but wanted to share...and everyone please take care of yourself, your body and your injurys. We only have on body in this lifetime, and the technology is out there to get things fixed before they become far worse. Blueskies! everyone make a jump for me!!
