At times have had a strong dislike for people who have hurt me. Maybe in the beginning there was a level of hatred, but that faded long away with time. However those people who directly hurt me, or are manipulative. Those people will always be put to the list of people who have no purpose in my life. There is one person on this list right now, and I pretty much think they will never come off that list. This really harms me in no way, I just dont have and will never have any friend type interaction with them other then Hi and bye maybe, but they will never ever become my friend. Takes alot to get there, takes a lot to get out of there. Otherwise, I take people with a grain of salt, decide where they belong in the grand scheme of things in my life, and decide if I feel they are someone I want around or not. If not, then just dont deal with them, and move along. She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto

This is not directed at the person I responded to, as this is actually a reply to a few people. How the hell do you know what I have been thru in my life? there you go assuming shit. I dont feel the need to tell anyone my personal life as I dont see the need to get "media attention" I will tell you people this. I was raised to be responsible for the shit I do. If I fuck up I deal with it. I was also taught not to put myself in situations where things could get real hairy with out having some sort of protection, be it finacial or otherwise. Yes she fucked up skydiving, but that isnt the problem I have. My problem is she made a choice to jump uninsured, and had an accident. She was not prepaired to deal with the aftermath. She made bad choices. I would do everything in my power (and this was in her power to have not be the way it is) to make sure my ass is covered, and if something were to happen, I wouldnt go crying to the world to bail me out. period. So those of you who are on your high horses assuming what I have been thru or what you thing, especially those who do not live in this country. Stop. I am done here, my opinion is spoken, and I will restate...those of you who shoose to jump with out insurance, do not look to me afor a hand out if you bash in. You do not have to jump out of that plane, that is your choice to make, and if you choose to jump with out insurance, then those bills are yours to pay. Period. Yes the US insurance system sucks, but that is the way things are... Good god people...it is real easy...BE RESONSIBLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS... Part true part not true. My digust is with how much society is now coddling those that cannot think ahead of their own nose, and are breeding people that assume that when they fuck up the world will take care of them, instead of taking care of themselves. Yes the media is fueling this, but as human beings it is up to us to learn to stand on our own two feet. Not go running and creating huge media hype to get someone else to pay for our problems. There was a simple thing she could have done and not had these bills...it is called insurance. She made a choice with concequences...end of story She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto

Pretty much. Don't ever be fooled into thinking that everyone in this sport cares about you....is your brother...or any of that other junk. Keep your friends close. Everyone else in this sport is just someone you know. Hate to break it to ya, but that is life in general. The fairy tale world doesnt exist. Yes friends look out for friends, but not everyone can look out for everyone. I have been stabbed in the back by mulitple skydivers, and have seen more then my fairshare fuck others over. We are not some special group people, yea we have a similar intrest, but you are still responsible for your actions and you cannot expect people to bail you out everytime you fuck up. Sorry. Sparky I think you are part right, I kind of fall in the middle (born in 73), though I think towards the earn it. But my parents raised me that I am responsible for my actions what ever they would be. They stood by me when they needed to, but when I fucked up I had to deal with the concequences. On top of that they never just "gave" me things, i had to work for it. My friends got cars, or got to use their parents car. Me nope, had to buy my own. My mom would let me use hers to do stuff I HAD to do, but not to go to school, or out with freinds. I saved up $3500 and bought my own car. Parents need to teach this to the kids, and somewhere along the way the whole poor me thing became acceptable. Pisses me off. So, having insurance is "license" to go ahead and do the "stupid shit"?? ...I just couldn't help but to key in on this statement, as it seems to be a mentality that I have also seen in people's perceptions (and their statements) of jumping either with, or without a Cypres. Why would you do something stupid ("stupid shit") just because you had insurance that you otherwise in any other way would NOT do (apparently) if you did not? Maybe I'm just "stirring" for no good reason here (other than boredom at work) too. Real easy...I know what my limits are, and im not going to push them when I do not have the proper back up. Insurance is my back up plan, incase I do fuck up. Life is about pushing limits, and knowing when to push them and when not to. I do not see in my life it is a good idea to push myself in those ways when if something goes wrong I dont have a back up plan. Each of us knows our limits and what we can handle, and must decide if we feel comfortable going past them with out a safety net. I have said in a prior post, sure I would jump with out a cypres, but not on a big way, or with a bunch of people I didnt know well. Sometimes shit id out of your control. Best you can do is control the situations you put yourself in. To explain what I mean by stupid shit....weavin in and out of trees on ski's. or taking that huge kicker and trying to learn a new trick...or skiing off piste for the first time. Sure I would do it if I knew I had a way to pay for a fuck up if there was one to happen. And yes I have been down this road twice now, insured both times, Torn ACL and Stretched my shoulder out of the socket and had to have it surgically tightened. But I had insurance at the time. Got it fixed and kept going. Pushing the limits means putting yourself at risk. Having as much saftey measures in place to help when things go wrong...is a good thing. There are risks in life, period. Everytime I step foot out onto the street I know there is a risk . But having said that I dont go playing chicken with a bus or a mack truck. Getting shot in a bank? Um my dear, now you are grasping at straws. There are things you need to do in life, and like I have said numours times, shit happens. You do not have to skydive, it is a choice, and a dangerous one, just like playing chicken with a mack truck. She made a choice to play chicken with the earth. Didnt work out to her favor. As for driving...would you drive a car with out auto insurance? oh wait most states it is AGAINST THE LAW. So now you are comparing something quite different. Yes I have been in a car wreck, totaled my brand new car, old lady turned in front of me as I was coming thru the intersection. Insurance delt with all of it. That is what insurance is for. That is why I have it. No I wasnt at fault and actually that driver lost her license because she was deemed unsafe. How the hell she didnt see me coming in honda element I will never know, doc and judge agreed. but that is a different story. Shit happens in life, and again im going to make this statement. It is about choices, she DIDNT have to skydive, nor did she have to do it uninsured. If maybe possibly someone would think twice before putting themselves into financial turmoil for a few min of fun..then this discussion is worth while. Let others learn from others mistakes. There is a huge difference between freak accidents and making poor choices. Skydiving while uninsured is a poor choice if you are not in the position to deal with any medical bills if shit happens. You asked what would I do in her shoes? I wouldnt end up there by making the choice not to skydive. Im not going to put myself in the position where I could get seriously hurt. If I ended up uninsured with some sort of freak disease, that was totally out of control I might then ask for help. But not when I made a poor decision. That I cannot argue as my mom died from cancer, and yes you guessed it she smoked. However, smoking is not the only cause for cancer. There are a crap load of people who get cancer and never smoke. That is the bigger picture on this. I have no issue with people asking for help when they have made an effort to do this on their own. Sometimes the insurance money does run out, and sometimes shit does happen. But when you make a choice, knowing it could seriously hurt or kill you...and do not take proper precautions...that is different. This will come across cold, I love my mother, I miss her dearly. The bottom line, she killed herself, this was nothing but her own fault. I never once put the blame elsewhere ever! I didnt go crying a river that the doctors didnt save her, or that the evil world took he from me. She did this all on her own. It is about choices, and people making poor ones. I was asked to donate. I did so for the last 2 years and will happily continue to do so. I bet you're one of those jumpers that wouldn't jump without a Cypres aren't you? To dangerous? To scary? Actually you are wrong. It is my responsiblity not to die remember Would I get on a 100 way with a bunch of people I didnt know? Nope. But I would jump with out one. Sorry but cypres, and health insurance are different, now if you asked if I would jump with out life insurance that is diffrent, do that all the time . But then again I dont have anyone else depending on me. Like I said, and will say again, if you jump with out insurance, you (and that isnt just you, but everyone) had better be ready todeal with things if they go wrong. Good and i hope they have the money to pay the bills if and when the pile in. Ok dude what does JFTC have to do with someone pounding themselves in and asking for money? Part of the money from JFTC goes to cancer research...to help those that get breast cancer, not something they chose. BIG DIFFERENCE here buddy. That is for charity for something that NO one askes for. She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto

I said it...I meant it. Sit if you must, I will not. Ah yes, but you see there is so much more to life then jumping...I never said I would do NOTHING, I just choose what I feel more confident if something happend I would be able to deal with the aftermath. Just remember the day you end up broken, broke and like a baby for help cause you screwed up....those you called a pussy for making adult decisions sittin there shaking our heads at the moronic move you made. My friend it is all choices, if you choose to jump sans insurance so be it, but be prepaired to pay the bills. Calling the rest of us who have the forthought to look at the potential problems pussies? that is real mature. Grow up.... Heh, ya know what, that is your choice, you can jump, ride etc with out insurance. But when the shit hits the fan and your standing there with all the bills in your hand no way to pay them. Dont come crying to the rest of us. I do a lot of shit that can be dangerous, but I choose which I will do uninsured, and where the most damage can happen. Have I skied uninsured? yep, but very cautiously, still had a blast, but didnt do stupid shit. But having said that I had been skiing for 15+ years already, I wasnt a student learning something. So before you go on calling those of us who feel we are better off not jumping pussies...you had better realize you are the one being not so bright. She is not taking responsibility for her actions. She got hurt, and is not taking responsibility, she is begging everyone to feel sorry for her, and pay her bills. At the moment, I am uninsured. I will have basic coverage Jan 1st, but that would leave me underinsured for skydiving. I will not put myself in the position for potential catostrphic mess. No jumping with out proper insurance, I dont want to be stuck with $100's of thousand in medical bills with no way to pay them. That is a choice I can make, and have made. And I will laugh at them if they come to me asking for money cause they got hurt. This is a decision they made. If they get hurt and deal with it on there own with out making a major public display. I have no problem with that. It is those people who jump with no insurance, get hurt and start crying for everyone to help them out. That is really the big issue. Actually I would never want public attention like that...no way I would parade around telling the world I screwed up, and now I want you to pay for my mistake She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto

My first post I chose to be tactful, and ask the question that would answer why most of us are pissed. If you had insurance and it didnt pay, or if you just were not insured. you ask... If you have no health insurance...yes you should...that was your decision to make. It is not the problem of the rest of us here to pay for your choices to jump uninsured if that was the case. The question I posed, about weather insurance paid or refused. Lots of insurance policys state very bluntly what is covered, and isnt covered. Skydiving is normally #1 on those lists. If that was the case, then same situation, you chose to do something where risk of serious injury is high underinsured. Do not come crying to me to give you a dime. You make choices in your life, and you need to deal with the consequences. Skydiving is dangerous, you chose to do it. When it bit you in the ass, and you were not prepared you came crying. that is not our problem you made a decision that as far as I am concerned is stupid. I have been on the ground for the last 7 months due to injury (non skydiving related) which required surgery (I had insurance...imagine that, it was only $600 out of my pocket, where the bills were over 30,000!) and then being uninsured. I am not taking the risk of getting hurt and being stuck with the bills. It is called common sense. You are trying to sensationalize the fact you made poor choices....and prying on the sentimental people of this country to bail you out because you couldnt make a good judgment call??? That my dear is what "I" have a problem with. Yes accidents happen, things happen, but you made a choice to jump uninsured. Not my problem you cant pay your bills.
