  1. Many thanks I don't think that affects me. I have VigilIIs which have the metal cutter units. Thanks ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
  2. Thanks for the reply. I have already seen that bullitin, but as already mentioned, the French version has EXTRA text at hte bottom regarding Vigils. It is this extra text and its content that I am interested in. Thanks, Phil ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
  3. The above link goes to a French version of the bullitin. There's mention of Vigils at the bottom, but unfortunately, I can't read it as I only speak English (unless you count ordering two beers as multi lingual) Would any kind soul be prepared to translate please? Many thanks, Phil ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
  4. I'd go for the mega booties straight from the start. You don't need to 'wear' or use them straight away... you can do your RW / FS coaching without by tucking them inside themselves. (Maybe use a bit of gaffer tape) Maybe try bringing them into play on a coached tunnel session. You'll never go back to 'shoelace covers' after that. That said, to my mind, if you're unlikely to go back, you should try to use then from the start (under instruction if you're really at the novice stage) Now, if I was sceptical, I would say that the manufacturer wants you to buy one suit now - and another next year. But I'm not, so I won't. ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
  5. No. Porters are right hand doors go here to see the agenda of the IPC http://www.fai.org/parachuting/meetings/2007.asp Annex 19 is the bid from the French DZ. ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------

  7. After doing my FS1 in Florida and being hooked on FS (RW to you lot over there) I joined a team on my return to UK on 125 jumps. They were other 'lowtimers' at out local DZ looking for a tail slot. We competed for one season in rookie. One of the original guys went to do CRW, so I joined, then another guy stepped down and we ended up with Emma (V2/Aikix/Elan) when she had like 200 jumps. Your secondary question is a biggie, but here are a few words on it... You all need to be honest with each other. Be honest about your goals; whether it's 50 jumps or 500 jumps per season, the amount of tunnel time / training camps etc etc that you would like to do. No good joining a team who want to do 50 jumps if you want to do 200 jumps (unless you all communicate and one or other of you are prepared to modify your goals and commitments) Also be open about your commitments: financial, personal, time, family, etc etc. No good wanting to to do 500 jumps and 20 hours tunnel, if you really can't afford the time nor the money to enable you to realise that goal. There's loads more to that and you can find lots of posts and articles about it here. Enjoy! ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
  8. That would be a mirror then? Or at least - that's one way of mechanicing (?) a mirror, by having double slot switchers. ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
  9. I only did zip-star for a season (on point)- and it was fun. Bundy-bundy for me has been IC and tail. It's pretty tame. Whatever replaces it would need to be a slot swapper. ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------

  11. Yes, it's just you. Like Dru and one or two others have mentioned, the UK has recently changed their categories to fit in with the ESL/NSL. Our categories were based solely on jump numbers; Junior: 900 total for 3 - plus 1 wildcard Intermediate: 1800 total for 3 jumpers, plus 1 w/c Senior: Anything else. This is the first season that we've got the 4 NSL / ESL catagories, so it's entirely likely that the 'jump number' idea is still used as an unwritten 'rule of thumb'. Maybe there is some disparity between the US version of rookie and the UK version, but I think they're in the right category. When I was in junior, I was turning a 12.75 average, and this was pretty standard at the time, and seems to have carried on now. People that want to progress and compete, using coaches and windtunnels etc will reap the rewards. Standards will rise as a result. This is what seems to be happening now. I, personally, am very happy to see the likes of 100% doing so well, and in my opinion, they are junior jumpers. They and teams like them, have only been jumping a couple of years and only recently started doing 4 way. They have trained hard and are reaping the rewards. Corny tag line alert: FS is alive and well in the UK Regards, Phil ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
  12. No, your French looks pretty good Sorry, I was foolish enough to think you were American, they make up a lot of new words ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
  13. You're kidding, right? What's wrong with 'talented'? ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
  14. I may be wrong here.... but I think I heard that the Golden Knights used to trounce everybody way back, as they were the only team that had access to a wind tunnel. ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
  15. Here! I missed the Brit 100 as I wasn't jumping wayyyyyy back then - but I'd be really up for a Brit 120 (or something similar)
  16. So, oeiginallt your average 4 way were on someting like, 65-75% Does that mean it's now likely to be nearer 50-55%? ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
  17. Personally....6 (i think) But not just an old fashioned RW round / star. There were 3 flat flyers doing the 'figure of 8' vertical move thing, but also hanging off our arms and legs, were Steve Hamilton bootie flying and Katy Bouette and Fabian Raidel back flying. Very Cool. That was in THE Largest Vertical Tunnel in the World, Bodyflight Bedford ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
  18. I believe the SV Colorado and New Hampshire are similar, if not the same, as the SV UK; re-circulating airflow. Not sure if the sizes are the same, but I believe that the SV UK tunnel is 12' across. ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
  19. I was going to say that too.... And there's Bodyflying, Zurich, Switzerland too. Bedford rocks though! ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
  20. Is it the same design as the UK tunnel? www.skyventure.co.uk or www.airkix.com I heard that the UK tunnel was started up the other day ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
  21. You can do all of the 4 way blocks in there. Certain blocks need to be started in the right place, (e.g. 2, 8, 22) to ensure no one gets hosed. You can do 1's and 18's with a little cheating on the back of the 1's, but all in all, I don't think you end up doing too much cheating to get the blocks done. There is a camera in there, but I'm not sure it's fully hooked up to a back end system. In my opinion, it needs to be moved up a bit more and tilted downwards a little. Basically.... it's lovely, and Paul and the staff are great too. Are you over here a week Friday to do some time or are you still in the US of Yankee Doodle Dandy? ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
  22. Me too.... it's lovely... (context: I have about 25-30 hours in Orlando, Perris, Paris and Switzerland) In the little that i did fly, I found the airspeed constant throughout. It's comparable to the good air that you find in Orlando and Perris. There was no fluctuation in the airspeed due to outside factors (like temperature and winds) as it's a sealed, recirculating unit. It's certainly better than Paris, which does have soft air around the outside and has very strong air up the middle. I didn't manage to fly right up to the edge (that's tail's job) but knowing Paul as I do, he wouldn't be happy unless it was constant all the way around. We have some 4 way planned tonight, so I may be able to tell much better after that. The airspeed and temperature have been measured all the way around (16') and all the way up (25') and from what I hear it's all within a gnat's knacker. I'm sure Paul would be happy to share exact detail for those fluid dynamicists amongst you. ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
  23. That's rather a narrow minded approach. Imagine if us Europeans had said, "Nice tunnel(s), but it's a shame that it's (they're) in the USA" How about coming over and checking us out, like we've been doing for years. Yes, we're happy that we have a tunnel here in the UK. (Soon to have 2!) I would doubt that the poster was trying to belittle what you have over there, unlike the impression that you're giving to us with your posts. It really is impressive. I have flown in 5 VWTs, and I think that this is the best one I've been in so far. I hope to try out Eloy in October. ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
  24. Slots here: http://www.dropzone.com/safety/articles/UnderstandingYourSlot.shtml Other Airspeed articles here: http://www.dropzone.com/safety/articles/airspeed.shtml Slot swappers: Is a block formation (where there is movement, called an inter, between the first part of a formation and the end part) usually where the Outside Centre and the Point end up in each other's slot. I think maybe the easiest formation to demonstrate this is the Bundy - Bundy. Take a look at http://www.teamfastrax.org/divepool.aspx and select block number 12 (Bundy - Bundy) and watch where the red and green guys start and finish. The compressed accordian spins 540 degrees, thereby changing the starting positions of the two skydivers. I hope I didn't make a pig's ear of that... It made sense to me ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
  25. I thought I'd chip in with.... a fully gripped up (excepting maybe tail, depends on the aircraft) P - Sidebody. But you beat me to the H... that's sweet. ----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
