  1. Yup, have to agree... You guys left out the absolute best... Sky design in Norway... ok, ok I haven't tried all the others, but I'm currently jumping SkyDesign RW and Camerasuits, they're great quality and have good small extras. In freefly gear I vote for RMW from down under.... Tomppa
  2. Iv'e jumped one for 400 jumps, I really like it... just go ahead...
  3. http://www.rmwjumpsuits.com/ Try that! I've got both the pants and the freefly suit! They're great, I do recommend. I'm not so sure about the FS suits, I prefer the best, the Norwegian Skydesign... http://www.sdcollection.no/eng_hovedside.htm Tomppa

    Mirage G4

Last week I saw the G4 for the first time, it looked quite nice. My local friendly rigger, the absolutely best service gear-salesman in the world, Simo Sainio from Parasale Oy gave me some insight into the new features of the G4, -I was really impressed.... Have to get one of those! Only one question pops up: - Even if the rig I saw contained two 150 fqf canopies looked good, I was told by other jumpers the rig looks bad and poorly fitting with smaller canopies. Doesn't sound like Mirage, does it? So, if you've seen rigs with small main and reserve, how did they look? thanks tomppa
  5. Out of curiosity; Ever thought of a cut away system foe that set up? tomppa
  6. Buy a Sony... Trust me, probably works best, can even handle a little bumping and is compatible with most of the accessories on the market... tomppa
  7. Anybody know if they sell them overseas as well? How does the purchase get done? By creditcard? Tomppa
  8. I'd have to agree and add an extra angle: I have my free left hand on the floaters rigg and go on go. At that moment i gently push myself away from the floater. It imperative that you go on max wings to get above the formation instantly.... Tomppa
  9. First facts coming up! I'm the lucky (or should I say unlucky) owner of that helmet. We did find it...the latch had simply opened due to material failure or simply poor craftsmanship. Skysystems convinced me that the system is tested and safe, it obviously wasn't. Thank God I wasn't hurt so much...My neck is a bit stiff and sore... So, I'll contact them and see what they have to tell me... but anyway, I'm still alive and we have it all (pretty uneventful until the helmet comes off, seemingly just by it self)on tape. I'll be back when I've contacted Skysystems. Thomas

  11. Sorry.. out of server space. hope you liked it! And don't go thanking me for the video, I only did 45 mins of lousy editing. You should thank the worlds greatest team of videomen, coaches and organizers at the Hercules boogie for organizing an event like that. It is truly THE most awesome boogie in the world...and probably the safest super quality jumps too. If i remember correctly us all did like 11300 jumps in 7 days, with no injuries! Stupid as I am, I didn't really ask anybody before I did this clip, but I suppose this shitty quality wmv works well as an teaser and an ad for the official Herc video 2002. Sorry for me beeing a rude asshole...:-)
  12. Sorry to disappoint you Guys! It's not a plane, nor an UFO. It could be Superman, or at least it nearly is. It really is Adrian Nicholas... He's great at that and he actually is quite far under. Don't go thanking me for the video, I only did 45 mins of lousy editing. I was lucky to get that material (I'm mostly jumping in the formations, I had my cam on me on a few of the jumps). Sorry for me beeing a rude asshole...:-) But I think it is possible to order videos from the team, I think they wanted something like 25 $ for them... So, be sure to be there the next time in 2004! and due to lack of space on my server I'll take the video off, hope you liked it.
  13. Dunno if i'm the first, but here's some feelings from the Hercules Boogie last week in Sweden!
  14. Hey Ho! Who's the dumbass? The one telling these stories or the one admitting that he/she exits a jump plane with an open chin strap?????
  15. Here's a link to the cool video from the Red Bull Swoop in Helsinki, Finland last month! [url]http://personal.inet.fi/cool/humanflight/RBSwoop_web.wmv Blue Skies Tomppa
  16. What is the current speed record under canopy during final approach. ? At the Para-Performance website there are only seconds (through the course). I wonder if anybody could tell how quick they are? Has somebody tried polica-radars. At least in Finland we use radars.. thanks tomppa
  17. Tere Peedu! I'm a bit confused of what we're talkin' bout, but if you meant a normal camera suit, then heres some info:(I jump a great norwegian skydesign suit (http://www.sdcollection.no) with the biggest possible wings!!) - Most common mal must be twists. Usually because of a turning opening position due to assymetrical wings (other wing more open)...What the twists result in, well, that's up to what canopy you have... - I've never heard of somebody opening to slow... - remember to keep your swoop cords on top of any gloves, unless your wings are as big as mine (half way down to the legs). They have cut aways at the bottom attachment point. - BUT!! worst case scenario I've heard about is some dumbass picking the pilot BETWEEN the wing and the harness and dumping it. So the the bridle goes "thru" your suit...That might result in something not so ice...and then dumping the res in the mix? HUHH, no thanks...!! Can't think of anything else, really...I think you'll fit into my suit, try it in Räyskälä at the Finnish Nationals Se on moro vaan! Tomppa
  18. Yup! One of the most essential things in rigging a camerahelmet is to remember that the thing should really be fixed to your head. To be effective and safe the helmet should "screwed" and secure. It shouldn't move at all. The Z1 is not good for that. Rememder that the g-forces that affect your head and neck at opening will multiply when you add the weight of a camera to your helmet... Try a commercial camerahelmet, end see how snuggly it fits... Then decide what to buy or build! Blue skies and great vids... Tomppa

    Cobalt

Thanks 4 the input! How about the front risers? - Does it level out from a hook by itself, or do you need to level it out from the toggles? -How steep is the dive? thanks Tomppa

    Cobalt

Yup! That's what I've heard too. But...I'm not really sure I'll jump the canopy more than a thousand or so...I'm still quite green in this sport (600 jumps, 3 years), so I'll probably still downsize. Any recommendations on wingloading? I'm currently jumping a Sabre loaded at 1,6 The bad thing about it all is that the canopy sounds like a good one, but here in Finland I can't jump one, since there aren't even demos here...damn! Tomppa

    Cobalt

Is it true that the Cobalt is made from cheaper or lesser quality zero-p fabric than for instance PD canopies? Any other comments or ideas of the canopy...? I'm flying camera and wish to get a SLOW, but straight opening canopy to save my neck... Tomppa
  22. Well I really have one! Got it two weeks ago, all the way home to Finland. It took a long time, and a lot of hurrying and complaining. I'm still negotiating a few things with the manufacturer so I wont comment much, but is not what they advertised. The closing latch looks and feels as if a child would have built it, the helmet is not totally closed behind as they showed in pictures(like the old PiriRaptor), the top plate is made of metal instead of the advertised carbon. So, the latch is questionable, but otherwise it's quite OK. Looks good, is as low as they said. Has a nice pretty snug and secure fit. I'm waiting for the extra liners they promised me, so then I can comment on the final fit.... Would I recommend one? Well it is small, not as bulky as a FlatTop and feels good. I'd wait a while and see if they can get the latch working (I wish they would send me a new latch, I could mount it myself). Look at the attachments to compare yourselves (the plate is off) I'll be back when I can tell what they sent and told me.... Tomppa Parachuting Club of Finland
  23. Are u the only one who has to spot? - what the h*ll? I sincerely hope you spot, and everybody else for that matter..... First time you end up outside the area where you planned to land, and didn't spot - blame your self. You just have to have that much confidence (and eyesight fo that matter) in yourself that you can spot your self.... Well we all now there are guys out there who just jump...without any idea of where they are going.....
