1031 exits from one Twin Otter in a day
x3mcam replied to jannu's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hell, I'm still sore and I made only 18 jumps! One of the real heros was Kusti, jumping and packing his own rig 25+ times! Dunno if this is any kind of a record, it anyway is no official FAI record... Anybody heard of such stunts?? Tomppa -
Bring out the creditcard!!! the 20D is coming..
x3mcam replied to vdschoor's topic in Photography and Video
ooohh yeah, throw in the new EF-S 10-22, specially designed for those cameras and CCD:s! cool! -
Just talked to Sami Lehtinen, he was 7th... Thomas

Stills and video? I assume you jumped first and tried to fall on your back but flipped over doing a somersault? Just as a normal 45 degree front jump, try it backwards: Just "step off", quite vertical, that makes you fall slowly to a back stable position... or it should..... Thomas

Vengeance: Love/Hate Relationship. Next Canopy?
x3mcam replied to flyhi's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
You grab your risers during deployment/the snivel? I stopped after 500 more or less non consistent openings on a 107 Vengeance..... Look there! it started behaving!! Just steer with harness input and - Voila! Thomas -
I jump one, so do a few friends of mine. No bad comments. Typical Sony top quality and good bang for bucks value! Just buy it!

when a camera freefalls to the ground.....
x3mcam replied to jimmytavino's topic in Photography and Video
Bad shit, no question about it! I had a trv20 do the same thing, but attached to a Vapor and insde a box. It "almost" worked after 5000 ft of freefall... Tomppa -
Deuce, Nope, I'm not in the frame, but Yup, it's the same gang. Organized by Markku Teivainen. Must be one of my diving jumps....
-
Yup, it's Jussi Laine. He has lately been into this long lens - camera in his hands thing. I would say he is best renown for images of himself, since he has various systems of connecting his camera to his foot/hand/skysurf etc. He is really a cool guy and an exceptional camera-flyer... BTW Deuce... I was on many of the jumps you filmed... when are we going to see some pics - huh? Tomppa

And here are the scores after 10 rounds!! Go Majik! http://skyleague.com/pages/scores/results.php?event=64&meetNumber=4 Tomppa

107 Vengeance at 1,8... No problems..... Tomppa
-
OK, the problem issue was with an old CamEye, with older software.... Tomppa
-
I heard that there are some compatibility problems with CamEye and the new Sony PC330? Anybody know what the issues are? Thanks Tomppa
-
He sure he spent all his luck on that one! It's amazing that he is ok, good for him! Tomppa

Anybody use this? I think I'll order one, but can I trust that it really holds my TRV-25 camera? Sadly it wouldn't be the first camera/helmet I'd drop from the sky........ http://www.pia.com/skydance/accessor.htm#4 Tomppa ps. where can I find a cheap camera-condom.?? Skydance I know, but somebody else who'd send it to Europe??

Sabre 135 (original) at about 1,3 Blue ones, Tomppa

Well, hard to say, but being a cameraman myself, I would say no. I see no real reason why a current and stable-opening flyer would start having spins after adding a camera? I've jumped my biggish camsetup Flat top pro with everything else and all kinds of suits but a Birdman, and have not yet experienced any difficulty in opening my Vengeance. That said, it's no extreme canopy, but still. I suppose it's more involved in the fact that early camerajumpers (with small jump numbers) tend to focus on the wrong things while opening.... Dunno, thats just me... Tomppa
-
Nope, sorry, wrong answer!
-
Just one comment: - imagine that your left hand is imobilized. Imagine then pulling/peeling or whatever the reserve soft pillow with your right hand only, and in a hurry. Please feel free to try it... Tomppa

Alain here said earlier that the 3,3 megapixel is of no use on mini-dv. is that so? I use a digital still for stills and would like to upgrade my trv-22 video quality and thought that the 330 might be the one, but am I wrong? If not the 330, then what? it has to be Sony, but I've heard that people have problems with all other 3 ccd cams but the 1000 and 2000, which are pretty heavy and bulky! thanks, Tomppa

x3mcam replied to conor's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control

The X6 six should have the PC interface that would allow you to wiev the wxatc log. I personally use the x6hr which also has the heart rate monitor to log... Nice info on thta one!! And yes, there are some GPS versions too, like the G9 for golfers... GPS gives the ultimately exact altitude info! Tomppa
