Here I am in the frigid, barely inhabited NW where nobody builds wind tunnels. So not being in the loop, I'm completely clueless about these things. Basic question for whoever can answer me: What's the fee for admission? First Class Citizen Twice Over

Advertisements are where it's at. If you have a business that skydivers could be a market for, advertise it! The banner ads are inexpensive and worthwhile. If you're interested in helping this site prosper, that's what Sangiro has asked for an I wish more people would answer his call. Everyone benefits! (That's not to say that I won't also buy Sangiro a tasty drink of his choice if I ever get to meet him. I'd be honored to do that.) First Class Citizen Twice Over

Me too. 95% of my jumps are from Cessnas. Not everyone lives near MegaSkydive DZ in Center of the Universe, AZ. First Class Citizen Twice Over

[parody] I'm definitely NOT French myself, (even though some people keep saying I am). Frenchmen are people and they're just as good as you or I. So I don't have a problem with them just as long as they don't even think about trying to talk French to me! There's this French guy at my DZ and you can't even tell he's French. He doesn't act all French or anything! He fits right in. I even had a friend who was French when I was in college. He was ok.[/parody] First Class Citizen Twice Over

I totally agree! My boyfriend of almost 4 years is so supportive that he's made more jumps in the last year than I have. Now that's support! See? It can happen.

So who decided stopwatches would be reliable in freefall? First Class Citizen Twice Over

Strange, I did it the opposite order. I had almost 200 jumps when I wandered away from jumping to get my pilot's license (and other things.) Now, years later I'm jumping again. But I hardly ever get behind the yoke anymore. First Class Citizen Twice Over

I made 4 beach jumps a while back when I was in college. Every year a couple of hundred Reed College students would take over an isolated 100 acre camp ground at the Oregon coast for a weekend. The only way to get there was to take private ferry over a river, hike 5 miles through the woods, or skydive in. I totally loved exiting over the water and looking down at the waves in freefall. Sand is the best landing surface in the world, too. Especially if you tend to land hard like I often did. First Class Citizen Twice Over

I recently came back to jumping after TEN years away. I had around 200 jumps. I called a couple of DZs to see what they'd recommend for me to get current again. One DZ said without even meeting me that I'd have to do the entire AFF course again from level #1 through level #7. Another DZ said, "Let's do an AFF level 3 style jump together and see where it goes from there." I chose to go to there since they seemed more interested in actually observing me before making major decisions about my training. After a couple hours of talking over my logbook, reviewing emergency procedures, discussing canopy skills, landings, airspace requirements, etc, we went up for a jump. The instructor liked how I handled myself and gave me a handshake on the ground. "Welcome back to the sport." I spent the next 5 jumps or so doing basic solo manuevers and opening high. That's all it took for me. First Class Citizen Twice Over

Do U have prblm jumping with farm animals?

That's kinda interesting. 135 posts makes it the 16th longest thread in the archives. Looks like it was something people wanted to get off their chest. I know I've been kinda wondering about it since my first jump in 1984. Some gay jumpers spoke up. Since straight jumpers speak up about their straightness all the time, it was about time. Thanks, guys and gals. PENISES! (oops !) Some straight jumpers showed support of gay jumpers. Mostly they did. Thanks to you too. A few straight jumpers screamed, "Back in the closet!" The double standards were rare though and a hell of a lot better than we'd have seen a few decades ago. At least the worst we see now is simply, "Hush up or you'll scare us." Back in the paracommander stone ages they would have been out with shotguns. First Class Citizen Twice Over
