How about if we stop blamming the victim and hold the one who took what wasnt his accountable? -

Um yeah cuz it was stolen. How many times have you left your gear unattended or unlocked while at the dz? -
Stolen Gear - Zhills (PDFT Rig with Peregrine 67)

I’d bet a weeks wages that it wasn’t a fellow skydiver, or at least one with half a brain. Probably some local non jumper who’s gonna try and hock it at some pawn shop a year from now thinking no one will be the wiser. -
need advice on landing
tristansdad replied to ChesterCheeto's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
First of all don’t beat yourself up, you have 33 jumps. I have 683 which aren’t many but I’m still learning how to bring down my Stiletto consistently under the many different variable that one faces while flying a canopy. Second if you haven’t already, study the flight characteristic of the canopy from the owner’s manual or manufacturer’s website. Get advice from a canopy coach at your dropzone and maybe get some video of your landings when you come back and have someone analyze it with you. Go to the DZ even though you can’t jump and study the way others are flying. Once again get advice, advice and more advice. Last but not least, the fact that you have the money to buy new gear is completely irrelevant. Just learn how to land so you don’t soil the shit out of it ;-) -
"seller" does not want to refund my money
tristansdad replied to jkdrummerboyee's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
you are whats commonly known as being SOL. There is nothing anyone here can do for you except tell you in the future have all gear sent to your rigger before you purchase it. Work with what you have, get the work done on it that needs to be done and walk away with a story you can tell another noob a few years down the road. best of luck bro... -
Have you ever had to deal with your present canopy in an emergency situation? The first jump I did on my Stiletto was a H&P from about 7 grand at jump # 500 and something. Had line twists on opening that spun me into even more line twists & since I had the altitude I was able to clear it before my hard deck. If I would have jumped from 5k it would have been a chop. The point I’m making is you probably could get away with the ST 150 as long as everything stays hunky dory but why chance it. Stick with the SA 150 until that magic number 500. Stilettos have been around a long time and they won’t be going away anytime soon.

Can you freefly in a track suit?
tristansdad replied to mrkthmn's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If you dont have money to spend on a suit then work on your sitfly wearing some shorts and a long sleeve shirt. you wont have the drag around your legs so you can get a good feel on being aggressive with your feet. motocross pants work very well and they are about a quarter of the price of skydiving pants. -
Can you freefly in a track suit?
tristansdad replied to mrkthmn's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The way I see it, you can "try" and freefly in any suit you like(camera, wingsuit, RW) but suits are made to cater to specific disciplines in order to gain that little edge. If youre just learning do you want to wear a suit thats not made for freeflying? -
Skydive The Ranch(NY) or Skydive Jersey Shore(NJ)
tristansdad replied to Terruko's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I thought Jersey Shore did just Tandems. Maybe I'm wrong. The Ranch however; does it all. There is another DZ in Jersey called Cross Keys. -
Rode the plane up with Lew Sanborn

He's gotta be getting up there in years. its great that he's still jumping. -
We jump year round in Suffolk in southern Virginia. The weather thus far has been mild but I dont see us being grounded for any length of time.

Heading to Deland! It's official!!
tristansdad replied to jrouse's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Camp out at the DZ. Youre going to be there during the same time frame as the Daytona 500 and hotels rooms are exspensive and hard to find because Deland is only about thirty or so minutes from the Beach. That money may be better spent on a rental car so you can get off the DZ and make runs to Walmart or go check out some attractions. Deland has a very nice Downtown area with some good bars and resturants. -
Visiting new dropzones.....

You can find out who the Alpha male is and pick a fight. -
A lot I know in the USofA dont even know how to pack their rigs so they have someone else pack them for $5, _______________________________________________ It's funny you mention that. At a place I use to jump at a bunch experienced skydivers had to "re-learn" how to pack a parachute becuase they were going to some boogie where the availability of packing consession was limited.

I have a Wings and my girlfriend had a Vector. She loved it but ended up buying a new wings because the military discount was awesome. I did jump her vector on one occasion and it felt like I was carrying a chunk of wood on my back. It was an older Vector III model so I dont know what the new ones feel like. I heard that Wings now has magnetic riser covers so you may want to call and verify. I think no matter which one you choose you wont be disapointed. I did have a chop and the reserve system of my wings worked very well.

Why you would post that is beyond me. The main bridle wrapping around anything is a key ingredient to the recipe of disaster. Next time try to be a bit more stable on exit. I’m trying not to think about how bad things would have gotten if the bridle would have tied itself around both your legs.

I just uploaded it to the GoPro FB page. Dont know when they'll publish it though.

at around 3000 feet but luckily I found it about a half hour later on the airport still recording. The fish eye was shattered but the camera itself still works fine.

The institution needs to be recognized by the VA. It must be a legit degree program because the VA sends checks directly to the school in the amount of how ever many credit hours you’re pursuing in any given semester. The VA is only going to cut the check after the school sends them enrollment verification. In traditional schools like the ones that are regionally accredited, only need to send that verification in every semester. Vocational schools need to send it monthly. The VA will also pay you a housing allowance based on the amount of time the school says your attending classes. Most schools stipulate that 12 credit hours is full time and you will receive the full BAH with dependants allowance. Anything less is prorated to the percentage i.e 9 credit hours will be 75 percent BAH. Plus your $500 book stipend will reflect the same calculation. With that said, if you can pull it off please do and let the rest of us know how you did it.

Thank you, the Master Rigger that’s doing the adjustments pretty much said the same thing but I like to hear other opinions as well. I put about 430 jumps on the harness and my back reminds me of every single one. Hoping that the resize will alleviate the pain and I don’t have any long term affects. Your educated well put response is very much appreciated.

ok. thank you
-
My MLW are 4 inches to short and my laterals are 3 inches to short. I think that its going to be money well spent.
-
Can that cause lower back pain? I'm paying to get my harness resized because its a bit small and the master rigger doing the work said that may be the cause of it. Has anyone else have that same problem? I stared jumping again two years ago and strangly enough that about the same time my back started bugging me.
