    I'm fairly new to the DZ.com and don't know the whole story on slyride. From what I can gather they are selling gift certificates for jumps saying they can be redeemed at places that they can't? Is that it or is there more to their scam?

    Don't feel bad I looped out my dirt bike going up a wicked hill and tore my ACL and my lateral and medial meniscus like 3 days after my second AFF jump (that was oct 19th). Had surgery 2 weeks ago and am in the process of therapy now. Pretty sure I'll have to start AFF all over again. Theres a good x-mas wish, for someone to pay for me to get my a license. Sorry for the hijack man!

    I asked for an altimeter, a helmet, gloves, and goggles. I figured that would get me started with some gear. By the way, I like your name, I've got an 07 GSXR1000 for the street and an 01 GSXR600 for the track.

    I've always wondered what would happen if as a student on rental gear I had to cut away and the main was lost. But that sounds crazy to be held responsible as a packer. The one thing that I've learned in my short time in this sport is there are no guarantees.

    I've read all of the reviews on each but still can't decide. I'm looking for input from you smart people. I always agonize over purchases because I don't have a lot of money to buy twice if I hate my first choice. I know they are kind of apples and oranges, but which would you want?

    Damn man I felt like a complete idiot because one of my instructors had to signal for me to do my practice throws. I don't feel so bad now.

    kj126, I jump at your DZ. If you're the guy I'm thinking of we talked dirt bikes a couple of weeks ago when the wind was too high to jump. My AFF progression is going like shit. I tore my ACL Thursday before last on a dirtbike and am waiting on the doctor to tell me if I need surgery. I'm probably going to have to start over. I'm pissed at myself.

    Someone told me that for my weight (about 235) a 260 would be good to start out with. But what make/model would be a good docile canopy?

    I'm training at Skydive Alabama. I did my ground school and AFF level 1 last week. Everyone there seems really cool. I've been pricing used gear to get an idea of what kind of money I'll be spending when I get my licence. I'm wondering what size container and main i'll need, I'm 6'2 about 235lbs. Also what brand/model main would be good to start with? I'm working on a budget as well. My wife has had it with my hobbies. I also race motorcycles with WERA and collect guns. I'm scared that she'll expect something to go to fund skydiving. It might be her.
