  1. Yeah true, good point(s) "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  2. Did the entire case gather steam, momentum and become built up around the testimony of a money hungry “parent” who tried to whore her own child out and, who has done- most likely- irrepairable psychological damage to her own offspring in an attempt for pure financial gain, who wasted millions of tax payers money and who, ironically, caused the jury to side with the defendant in the case? Definitely. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  3. £50 for 2 mins of flight time?! I know it's a minimum, but Bodyflight are doing a £60 for 10 min flight offer i believe (and no i don't work for them, i just heard about it when they turned up at the dz) "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  4. Rightly so, this case shouldn't have even made it to court. It wouldn't have done if Janet Arvisio knew that she wasn't liable for civil damages and a fat payout too. No one for sure can call yay or nay on the molestation, but i think it's pretty straightforward for most of us to see a gold digging waste of space like Janet Arvisio when we see one. 5. Janet Arvisio is a money grabbing, own-child-as-bait using, non-parent as far as i'm concerned. This whole thing is a crock of shit, made up so she can get her dirty paws on more money through illicit means as far as i'm concerned. Jacko is wacko, there is no doubt about that, but the guy is a 45 year old man with the mindset of a 15 year old. Michael Jackson is a predator and choses his victims deliberately. Most parents would not sell their children's innocence for new cars, vacations and cash. Jackson finds the ones who will look the other way if the price is right. ] Those who will "look the other way" as you put it, while knowingly leaving their children with a guy who "might" be a child molestor, need to be locked up. 7. I disagree not really fresh at all it's been done before. I actually thought it was a little below average because it lacked the energy & performance aspect of other dance hall artist. That's funny, i didn't realise the reggae with hiphop, dancehall, religious crooner with conscious lyrics live band fusion scene was so played out. He is not a dancehall artist, he is essentially a reggae artist. Perhaps that's why he didn't have the "energy and performance" you were expecting? Who were you comparing him to? 8. I agree with you 100% PS i never thought what you said was rascist mate, i just got in the impression that you liked what you saw, and like me, were just surprised to see some Hassidic guy busting out like that "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  9. but if that were the case, any musician or artist could perform exactly the same as another, and bring about the same emotion in those watching/listening. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  10. learning implies imitation of something pre-existing...this guy has better vocal flow, melody and control than most big reggae "stars" i have listened to of late - even with endless practice and study, he also has his own distinct musical style and flow, and that's not something you can just "learn", it's unique to the artist themselves. 11. like any form of music it is just a learned skill... completely agree that you can learn to be technically skillful (and even then you need to work damn hard to make it sound good) but to be soulful and have your own style and flavour? That can't be "learnt", it comes with practice, creativity, a dash of what makes you you, and above all a love for what you are doing. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts

  13. A friend came into the office today and she took her parents to see Billy Elliot last night and said it was absolutely amazing. No idea on cheap tickets, but there is this small ticket stand thing in Leicester Square that "reports" to sell cheap tickets, but can't confirm if it does or doesn't - might be worth investigating though. Have a fantastic trip and if you need specifics on eating, post up, as food is more my knowledge area of specialty "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts

  15. yeah, i misunderstood the original article while trying to read through it with a red mist forming (see my reply above). "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  16. yeah you're right, i re-read the article once i calmed down to make sure i hadn't misunderstood, and i see they (OFCOM) are saying they (ITV) used it for entertainment value, and therefore the "exceptional circumstances" to show something of this nature, was not ever met. I am still gobsmacked something like this would ever find it's way onto shows where it's purpose of being shown is for pure shock entertainment. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  17. Read about it here: http://media.guardian.co.uk/site/story/0,14173,1500987,00.html I didn't see it but i'm guessing it relates to the GK Diamond track incident back in 94. The clip was actually screened on Sally Jesse Raphael, who took it from "When Good Times Go Bad" (both US shows). I think for ANY network or channel to have used this shows complete insensitivity to not just the television watching public, but specifically those that were directly affected by the incident, and the sjydiving community as a whole. Someone from Ofcom - the watchdog for tv broadcasts amongst other things - had the fucking nerve to state "The key issue is that the footage of the death of one of the skydivers was used in an entertainment context in this pre-watershed programme, which did not provide the 'exceptional justification' required." Because obviously, skydivers being killed is acceptable to be used in an entertainment context, right? Fuck me. Am i misunderstanding what was said? I'm on the verge of calling them to complain about what they seem to find permissable as entertainment value to the general public. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  18. Is it really like a set of "electric thumbs" as the ad claims? Does it do deep tissue massage well? Can it work the knots out etc etc? Thanks for the quick reply "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  19. Man my back is KILLING me! I was just checking these things out online Pro Shiatsu electric massager and i can probably get me one in near new condition on ebay for not too much. Anyway had any experience with them? I mainly get aches in the muscles on the top of the back, just to the left and right of the neck joint, and in the middle, near my spine, and it looks like this thing could target them pretty well. Any feedback would be appreciated! "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  20. Our dreams are the result of subconscious thought, so you should try and trace back to when exactly these dreams started to happen. Reoccuring dreams are rare but not uncommon, and it does indicate you have something weighing on your mind. Could it be that you have recently had a jump that scared you, or you saw something on the dz that scared you, that it was the anniversary of a friend passing and has jogged memories, that you haven't jumped as much as usual lately etc? Try to think when the dreams first started and why you think it might have been. It might take some introspection, but looking within yourself and whats on your mind usually helps when finding the answer to ones dreams/nightmares. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  21. Nice idea, but i don't think it's possible to do 5/6/7/ continents in as many days AND get to a dz and make a jump is it? You would need perfect weather and travelling conditions at every step of the journey i think. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts

  24. So my 2 good (non jumping) friends come up to make tandems this weekend. One of them catches the bug BIG time and is talking about doing a course to learn for himself as soon as he is back on the ground/all the way back on the drive home. I'm really excited by the prospect as he is a great friend, and i tell him all about AFF, whats involved, what the cost is, what happens post-AFF etc, but at the same time, i'm thinking "well after my first tandem, i wanted to immediately learn, but it was 3 years later until i took it up" so i decide i won't hold my breath as he could be some time in coming to his decision. So he calls me last night and has said he has been looking to book his AFF course but doesn't know which dz! So obviously i'm pleasantly surprised and really excited about the whole turn of events, but at the same time i don't want to sugar coat things for him. So i say "mate this is great news, but let me tell you a few things...." and i proceed to give him the "skydiving is NOT safer than driving" and "you can do everything right and still die" and "even if you don't die, you can still get injured very badly through no fault of your own, and certainly through fault of your own" and that he must be prepared to accept the risk of essentially what it means to jump from planes. So there is silence on the line, then a "mate - thanks A LOT!" from him. While we had a laugh at this, i did say to him that i just want him to be 100% sure he knew what he was getting into, as it wasn't bowls or darts. He has 2 small children, and the last thing i would want is for anyone, and particularly a close friend, to get into something they didn't know the full risks of, particularly when you have direct dependents like kids. His reponse to me was "well YOU do it, and you aren't a big risk taker" to which i replied "i don't have kids and when i do, i will have a sit down and reevaluate the risk". I told him this doesn't mean i will stop jumping at that point, it just means i will make sure i'm happy to do what i'm doing as long as the benefit outweighs the risk. This definitely gave him some food for thought. I told him he should sleep on what i said and we would speak tomorrow and go through some more options for him (i had to get off the phone, the wife was calling). Was i TOO in your face? I don't think so, after all, it's the reality of the sport. I did say to him the sport is hugely rewarding and just the most amazing fun you can have, which he seemed stoked about, but when i talked about death/injury part it was almost like he didn't want to hear about it, which i guess is understandable (who wants their dream tainted?) Anyway, what's the best way to approach someone new wanting to get into the sport, especially after they have had a taste of it, like a tandem? How much of the "pessimistic outlook" or "doom and gloom" should be used? I don't want to discourage the guy, i just want him to be aware of the risks etc. I haven't been in this position so would like to know how best to handle it when speaking to him again tonight. Thanks "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
