Oh come on, how can you draw a parallel between the UK and what went on in Nazi Germany under Hitler. I think that's blowing this whole thing WAY out of context. Also you have nothing to fear, as the article states this info is not publically available so work/insurance issues are nullified. Let me tell you what you may not know - this country is being destroyed from within by CHILDREN. We have kids with nothing to do, dropping out at a higher rate than ever before, killing each other over nothing, disaffected and disillusioned. I work with inner London school children, i see it all the time and it's not just something going on in the cities either. This is a CRIME FIGHTING tool - and i quote: "Of the three million samples held at present, 139,463 are from people never charged or cautioned. The Home Office says the number of samples stored will rise to 4.25 million by 2008. There are also samples from more than 15,000 volunteers, including victims of crime, who responded to police appeals. However, the number of crimes solved through DNA technology has quadrupled over the past five years. Police can now track down offenders by matching samples with other family members who may be on the database. " If they can utilise DNA technology to implicate and catch the offenders, instead of allowing them to go unpunished, that is fantastic and i hope this gets rolled out further. And as for lazy policing, you should look into what it takes to first of all collect, then analyze dna found at a crime scene - to capture and process that sort of evidence is far more time consuming that you might like to believe. Bring it on - if parents won't police their kids, let the police do it. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts

Do you love to get your buns kicked by a little gal?
Newbie replied to VanillaSkyGirl's topic in The Bonfire
When you say "kicked" do you mean do i like to get beaten in some way shape or form, physically or otherwise, by a small girl? I'm trying to think about a situation where i would enjoy that, maybe in some kind of Barbie and Ken dresswear competition?Although that's more a young girl, rather than a small one. When you say small girl, do you mean someone shorter than me, like do i like the idea of being beat down by a midget/dwarf sized woman and/or girl? If it's that, then it's quite intriguing, but ultimately quite scary, so probably not. Or, do you mean "do you like to be spanked by a little cutie?" I think you got the poll answers down, i think we need a little more clarification on what is being asked though. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts -

Hi, i'm new to the tunnel, only having done 10 mins. I'm now booked in to do 1 hour over 2 days (thursday and friday, in about 4 weeks time) of freeflying only. Im then off to Spain for 3 days of jumping (weather permitting) where i could be jumping 6 or 8 times a day, maybe more? This might not sound much to some of you, but i think it might well take it out of me. I'm mainly worried about muscles seizing up and possibly being sore from the tunnel. I am working on increasing upper body strength with some free weights right now, as well as some sit ups. I also cycle so my legs are quite strong. I want to make sure i can prep as best i can, so any and all advice needed please. I figure i will need to drink a lot of water to keep hydrated as well as stretch before, after and during the tunnel flying to make sure im ok for jumping afterward. I know this might sound wimpy, but i don't have even have 300 jumps yet and the thought of doing what will effectively be 60 jumps over 2 days in the tunnel and then going jumping for (hopefully) a good 3 days is putting the frighteners up me! I'm sorry you feel that way, i honestly didn't mean this to be some stupid shoot my mouth off question, and i really am sorry if it upset anyone, particularly someone who might have been through what i posted. It was not a self serving post, aimed at generating a response. It came out of something i think Ron or someone had posted in another thread about risk and if you asked any jumper who had been seriously injured if they thought that one jump had been worth it, they had said no. I am paraphrasing and if it wasn't Ron i apologise, but it got me thinking - so many of us, me included - forget sometimes about the risks, and because all of us are meant to be weighing these risks all the time, i thought about one of the worst things i could think of (because lets face it dieing sucks, but if i die, you won't ever really know how pissed off i am) and for me, that would be being paralysed from a jump. So i put the question out, mainly because i thought it would make people stop for a moment and think - and perhaps weigh the risk. All too often i come across people on the forum (and i have done it myself) where i catch myself slipping and think "7 jumps done today, i know what i'm doing, what could do wrong on number 8?). That's why when i asked myself this question, lo and behold it made me think. I wondered if it might work with anyone else, and the reply by Scoop above seems to have shown it did. Again i'm sorry if you felt it was an insensitive post to put up, but my intention was not to garner attention and fuel my ego, it was more to put something out that over the last few days i had been wrestling with to see what others thought on the same issue. What's the average price of a 1 or 2 bed flat (apartment) where you live?
Newbie replied to Newbie's topic in The Bonfire
Depends on where you go. We've got riverfront condos with a yacht club just out the back door and a golf course across the street out front that run from $300,000-$500,000, and I know of very nice, new-ish condos without those luxuries that run around $200,000. I don't know of any 1 bedrooms, and 2 bedroom units aren't all that common. Property is cheap enough where I live that most people just build/buy houses. A couple years ago the gal I was with and I built a new house on a quarter acre lot for $168,000... 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, 2 car garage, 2200 finished square feet. Why would we want to share walls/ceilings/floors with others when we can have that much more privacy for less? Should business be "responsible" to it's stakeholders?

So do you think this "funding in kind" then (giving resource instead of cold hard cash) is a good idea? "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts -
Should business be "responsible" to it's stakeholders?
Newbie replied to Newbie's topic in Speakers Corner
Then, as Bill said, it does what the CEO wants. If they've got the extra cash laying around to help in the community, great! If they want to fill a swimming pool with it like Scrooge McDuck, that's great too... You get much more charity voluntarily than by trying to force people to give. Being a responsible business is not about giving money to good causes though, is it? "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts -

It's a lot like discussing any of the topics we discuss in SC - some people go in all guns blazing, stating their view is the right view, others just want to hear what people think and why and try to learn something. You can apply what you said to every topic in here -
Should business be "responsible" to it's stakeholders?
Newbie replied to Newbie's topic in Speakers Corner
Isn't that the point of any discussion? To put you side across and do it convincingly. The only direction this discussion should go should be based on people putting their view on the topic down and then justifying why they feel that way. It's more just a means for me to see how people feel on the subject, rather than a way to sway people to a particular way of thinking. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts -
That's more or less my routine right now - how far is your commute? Unfortunately (exercise wise) mine is only 15 mins each way and to work, it's downhill the whole way (fun, but ultimately not challenging, although the hill on the home makes up for some of that) "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
