Here in Texas, we have mandatory vehicle inspections. We still, see a lot of vehicles with one or no tail/brakelights. People just don't check things like that. Bad part is, they get hit in the rear-end ...it's the other guys fault! Try to prove the tail/brakelights weren't working after the wreck! Chuck

Hear, hear! Bettman is a 'numbers-cruncher', who pushed for League expansion into cities that thought hockey was what was found in a pasture. Team owners were paying outlandish salaries to get 'prime' players (Red Wings - Sergei Fedorov). At one point, the Red Wings paid Fedorov $12mil signing bonus! What kind of message does that send to players? Meanwhile, expansion teams were losing money. Bettman wouldn't back-up on a salary cap. The players, at one point made a fair offer. Bettman turned it down because it did not include the words 'salary cap'. The end result has hurt a lot more people than players or owners. Concession workers at arenas, area hotels, restaurants, bars, etc. Bettman has done more to hurt hockey than anyone. The NHL, needs a new president ...bad! I think, the Pnguins problems was that Lemieux had visions of grandeur that, he alone could carry the team and put fannies in seats. The Coyotes, they're in Arizona. That's not hockey country. Bettman was counting on 'snowbirds' to support teams in Southern states. He's a dufus! Sorry 'bout the rant. Chuck

I saw a program on ESPN, a couple weeks ago, about a guy (name slips my mind right now) in the Bay area who has come-out to name, names of athletes who he has supplied performance enhancing drugs to. Some of the drugs he mentioned cannot be detected by any of the tests in use today. The names he mentions and tells of 'being present' and instructing on how to inject them, come from all major sports as well as the Olympics. I think, MLB has known about it but hasn't done much about it. What with the McGwire - Sosa home run race hell, that puts fannies in stadium seats. Chuck
