______________________________________ Nice job! How refreshing to see 'real' wood stairs and wood work. Most home I've been in over the years, the woodwork was painted! You really did a good job. The finished work is beautiful. Chuck

I was told if, I drew my weapon, shoot to kill. I was also told that if I shot to 'wound', I'd probably just piss him off. If, someone were to turn on me and I felt 'strongly' that my life or the life of an innocent 3rd. party is at stake... kill him. I was told to aim for the 'body'. If, that is to be worded as shooting to 'stop', fine with me. I pull a gun... I'm going to 'stop' him. Chuck

I guess Andy Warhol didnt have enough. Someone once said VU only sold a few thousand albums... But every single person that bought one must have gone on to start a successful band! _______________________________________ I appreciate the correction! Andy Warhol...DUH! Thanks, again! Chuck

Now that, there's funny!!!!!!!!!! You kill me ________________________________________ That was another thing, I heard on VH1! Truman Capote 'supposedly' put-up money to help get the band going. ...an' quit yer laffin'! I'm tryin' to learn somethin' here! By the way, I haven't really heit you with my really funny shit! Chuck

___________________________________ I heard that the other night on VH1. I thought, I was gonna fall outa my chair! Wasn't 'Velvet Underground' 'backed' by Truman Capote? Chuck

Riggers - how many reserve REPACKS and SAVES do you have?
masterrig replied to skydiverek's topic in Gear and Rigging
_____________________________________ I had been out, running errands one day. When I got back to the house, there was a 'big' box on my front porch. I checked the return address and it was one of the glider pilots I work for. I took the box to my shop and when I opened it, there was an opened parachute and container and a note with "THANKS, Chuck'. Also, there was a bottle of Crown. Seems as though, the pilot lost his tail rudder and had to use his emergency parachute. I put that bottle with the others, on a shelf. I put a label on the bottle, as I've done with the rest, with the owner's name and date of use of the parachute. Chuck -
If you don't have to work a little to get what you want, it's not worth having and even if it is, you wont appreciate it as much. All the difficulty has been taken from life in this country and I to long for the days when you had to work hard to get what you wanted. ______________________________________ Excellent point! That's pretty much, what my mom and dad taught me. I had a paper route when I was 10, worked in a grocery store, when I was 13 and so-on. That was besides my 'chores' at the house. i know kids now, that don't know the handle end from the cuttin' end of a lawnmower! Chuck

I think, "Walk on the Wild Side", kinda put Lou into the 'one hit wonder' category but, the guy has put-out some really good stuff. Happy Birthday, Lou! Chuck

Wow! That was good, Beeze! I was born in the mid-forties and remember a whole bunch of that stuff. I now know, what all the adults (when I was a kid) meant by 'the good ol' days! I'm still havin' a hard time with some of the 'gadgets' we have now. Like the ol' boy told me; "If, it ain't got 2-knobs and 5- buttons on it... I don't understand it!" edit to add: I wanted to say also, we could eat all that stuff as did other folks because, we played hard and folks worked hard. Chuck

I was trained that if, you can use a 'non fatal' method to subdue someone... do it. If, it comes down to having to use your firearm... shoot to kill. A police officer would have to be 'cool as a cucumber' in a stressfull situation not to mention, a helluva shot to just wound someone. This guy's thinking is 'nice' but, impractical. IMO Chuck

___________________________________ I wholeheartedly agree with you. If, I may quote Bob dylan: "The Times, They Are A'changin'! " There are too many 'time honored' traditions that have fallen by the way. Seems like, it's a whole new 'game'. Chuck -

That’s a pretty high ratio. Maybe you should offer to pack their main also. -

I just paid $285.00 to have a harness replaced on a Javelin. That was using the same hardware. Sparky ________________________________________ Thanks, Sparky. That's good to know. Chuck

______________________________________ Reminds me of the commercial with Dale Earnhart Jr., where he announces that he is changing his number from '8' to '6.7'! They show a guy getting the finishing touches on a large tattoo of '6.7' on his back. Then Earnhard announces; "I was just messin' with ya'!" Chuck

If, it were me, I'd contact Sunpath. They can build a new harness to fit you for around $400.00 - $450.00. I'm just guessing on the cost. It's been awhile since I've dealt with this subject. Chuck

What made your favorite instructors/mentors great?
masterrig replied to Vallerina's topic in The Bonfire
Too cool! My Senior instructor was, besides being a real stickler for detail, was a 'hard-ass'. On the other hand, he was also a prankster. He wasn't 'mean' about it but, definately demanding! The 'hard-asses', were the ones I've learned from the most. Another man I really learned from was, the late Ron Green. Besides being a helluva nice guy, he had a way of teaching tandem instructors that was really cool. When you stop and take inventory, there are really, some incredible folks in this sport. Chuck -

masterrig replied to Vallerina's topic in The Bonfire
For me, it wasn't skydiving instructors but, those who taught me rigging. My Senior instructor was meticulous in his work and a stickler for following the 'rules' and doing the work the very best he could. My Master instructors were equally so. That really impressed me and has caused me to want to be better than them... if, that's possible. I owe a lot to them. Chuck -

It wasn't the Indians that got massacred ______________________________________ It was still, a massacre. White folks weren't the only ones who got massacred! I had a Native American tell me one time that he found the way we wrote history was funny. When it's the Indians who died... it was a 'victory'. When it was the white man... it was a massacre! Chuck

And it has been my experience that you do a very good job of it.
