I was thinking the same about George and HIS klan. ___________________________________ Not a bad line of thought! A quick check with INTERPOL is not difficult at all. Law enforcement agencies have the ability... it just isn't often used. I agree with you. Make penalties and 'enforce' them. No picking and choosing... treat everyone equal. They want equality... give them equzlity! Chuck

Yeah, those laws are on the books now but are not being enforced. More effort there would help as well. Problem will be that that's a huge voting bloc that no one wants to anger (small business owners.) It will also, at least in the short term, result in higher food prices. ____________________________________ Yessir, they are. They should be enforced, also. To me, the law is the law. Small business... big business, makes no difference. As with anything else, you break the law you face the consequenses. What's the difference between robbing a convenience store and hiring illegals. In both cases, a law has been broken. In a perfect world! I agree, that any way of responding to the problem will in all regards, be a multi faceted. Knee-jerk reactions won't work either. They never do. It'll be the old story... you can please some of the people some of the time and etc. Chuck

Good for her! Sure, she has been waiting, all these years but, she is going about it the right way. I just think it is so wrong for folks to enter illegally and demand 'their rights' in this country. I've listened to the speeches made by illegals at their rallies, lately. They really twist the truth. The laws are there... they need to be enforced. Like you stated... none of this 'catch and release' stuff. This isn't about bass fishing. Chuck

___________________________________ Seriously! Have you considered sending your ideas to your Congressman? I would add: Enforce 'stiff' fines for hiring illegals. After X number of offenses by an employer, mandatory 5-yrs. prison sentence. Get rid of our present 'catch/release system we have now. I think that your ideas are more reasonable than anything I've heard out of the Congress or Senate. No matter what the end result of any 'new' immigration laws, someone is going to be up-set. That's the way it goes. What it boils down to is, we have to do something about the long ignored problem and tighten border security. Chuck

Does Shoe Goo affect how easy it is to repair booties? __________________________________________ Yes, it does. I have found that Shoe Goo, is incredibly difficult to try to sew through. It is also extremly difficult to remove without the use of strong solvents. In replacing the sole leather, I have also had to remove the material between the sole and the top of the bootie. As a replacement for the strip of material running between the sole and top, I use Type-12 webbing and about a 4-oz leather for the sole. Where the bootie has been 'toe-dragged', I'll sew a piece of Type-12 webbing over the area and hot-knife it the rounded shape of the toe. This method is for 'extreme' wear cases. Hope, this helps. ___________________________________ Been there... done that! Barely came-out with my scalp! I usually try to just say what I feel yet keep it light and try to throw-in a dash of humor. I avoid sucking-up or ass-kissing. What I say sometimes may look that way but... oh well. I just try to have fun. All the awsome folks that post in BF, I'm just in awe. If, you missed Walt's 'turd tale'... it was pure Shel Silverstein! Insightful yet humorous. A real bitter-sweet saga. That's about it! -
The best tamales, are 'hog-head' tamales! There's an ol' boy who goes door to door in our neighborhood, each year around Christmas. He and his wife make them. They've put one son through Texas Tech that way. Damn good tamales! Chuck

Hey, Slappie! I started prayers last evening when, I heard it on the news. I'm sorry to hear about your friend. If, we can do anything else, let us know. My heart goes out to his family, also. The last I heard, they didn't know what caused the crane to fall. It's always sad to hear things like that. Chuck

Obviously, this will probably be the toughest thing you will ever do. I've been told that, getting off of nicotine is equal to kicking heroin. I smoked for over 30-yrs. When I finally quit, I had to quit thinking about cigarettes and constantly divert my thoughts away from them. You can do it! Chew on toothpicks. When you get a craving for a cigarette, tell yourself you'll have one later (later, never comes). Keep busy. I have been off cigarettes and booze, for 10-yrs. and I still, get cravings. It's really hard to do but, you've gone this long without one... you can go even longer. Hang in there. It'll be the best thing you will ever do for yourself. I've seen too many friends and relatives die of emphasema(sp) and cancer, as a result of smoking. Do it for you. That may sound selfish but, that's the way it is. Your friends and loved ones will understand what you are going through. We're all behind you. Besides, you and your clothes will smell better! Chuck
