She may be planning a big apology now, but too little / too late. ______________________________________ With an ego as big as hers... I doubt it. Chuck

Maybe she and Star Jones can team up. Their show can focus around the importance of modesty and grace. Rosie is a time bomb. A few weeks ago, she made a huge deal about a slight by Kelly Rippa. She really created a tempest in a teacup, that forced Kelly to do a bunch of unnecessary grovelling. Then, about a week ago, she made a huge deal about how filthy stinking rich Barbara Walters was. When Barbara hinted that she should drop it, Rosie gave her an "Oh please! What's the big deal?" and continued on. According to my morning commute radio personalities, who provided me with such important stuff, Barbara was visibly pissed. It's like Rosie feels completely entitled to insert herself in other people's business and (big "and" here) she thinks people who take exception are just being oversensitive. It's like she was the fat ugly girl in high school who got picked on... and now, despite her fame, success and wealth, she's still that person, with a big ol' chip on her shoulder. _________________________________ You sure naild it! Rosie O'Donnel just needs to shut up! Chuck

Agreed ... next story please ... I'm with you both. Rosie thinks 'The View' is her show (and geeze..she will never STFU) and the Donald thinks the world revolves around him (he's an 'icon') Rosie actually WORKS for her money and has it. Rules are rules. If she did something against the rules (like underaged drinking) she should lose her crown and make the rest of her life what she can make of it, like the rest of us.~~April ________________________________ The whole thing is 3rd. grade. They're both acting like spoiled brats. Both of their egoes are as big as Rosies butt! I've never had any use for Rosie and I used to think Trump was an all-right guy but, Trump has lowered himself to Rosie's level... and that's pretty low. Chuck

_____________________________________ I'm confused! She used to have Trump on her now defunct talk show and spoke so highly of him. She's got the personality of a pit-viper. Like, she's some kind of great example for others. Chuck

I think if prohibition ended (not just legalization of pot) I think crack would virtually disappear, since high quality powder cocaine would be readily available at a reasonable price. I also think that coke availability would also significantly reduce meth usage. X gets a bad rap and is not as dangerous as many believe, assuming it is unadulterated. Don't get me wrong, it's not safe, but the risk can be reduced to a manageable level, much like skydiving. _______________________________ That's what I am looking for... other's thoughts on the subject. I appreciate it. Chuck

Hoover was obsessed with peoples sex lives. It was getting the dirt on people so he could blackmail them politically if he wanted to.. Look at his files on Martin Luther King....many of them delat with his affairs etc. _______________________________________ All, while keeping the attention off of him and his little dark secrets. Chuck

You make a valid point. I do not, however, believe that justifies prohibition. _________________________________ Yup! I just don't know, how much we learned from the prohibition of booze. Folks still bought it, stole it, killed over it and made and sold lethal imitations of it, bad guys made lots of money off it. If, 'weed' was legalized, wouldn't this open the doors for crack, coke, meth, X and everything else? Not just good, honest intelligent people would buy it. The whole situation, is a head-scratcher. Much of what makes drug addictions so bad is that the drugs cost so freakin' much. That's because they are illegal. The supply is artificially limited. Legalize, and the cost plummets. When the cost plummets, the lives of addicts no longer revolve around finding enough cash to support their habit. ______________________________________ This may be a 'wild' thought but, I don't forsee legalization of various drugs... ever. There's just too damned much money in the illegal drug trade. The so-called 'war' on drugs is a joke. I believe, too many politicians and others are making too much money off the illegal drug trade by pay-offs and there's a 'show' being put-on to salve the voters. If, the price was to plummet, as you say and the huge profits drop drastically... why push it? Why produce it? Chuck

I could see Jimmy Hoffa, but Sinatra and Monroe? Why? _______________________________ Sinatra, for 'Possible mob ties'. Monroe, because she was connected to the Kennedys. Joe Kennedy was a 'rum runner' during prohibition. Actually, many of the people that Hoover had files on, there was nor reason for it. Chuck
-
____________________________________ Hoover had a very strange curiosity and interest in Hollywood and it's citizens. He also had files on the Kennedy's, starting with Joe Sr. What is interesting to me is that, FBI Agents, back then were required to have either business degrees or similar. Hoover wanted to 'mold' his agents the way he wanted them. There was a bumper-sticker, years ago that read: "Hoover Sleeps With A Night-Light!" Chuck

J. edgar Hoover, not only kept dossiers on Lennon, but also, Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Jimmy Hoffa and more. Chuck

I'm gonna have to call bullshit on the acid claim. The lowest LD50 dose I was able to find is 300 micrograms per kilogram of body weight. That LD50 dose was for a rabbit. After that was 1800 micrograms for a wild bird. The next lowest was 16 milligrams per kg of body weight, for a rat and a guinea pig. A typical heavy recreational dose for a person is about 250 micrograms. That works out to less than 4 micrograms per kilogram for a 150 lb person, which is well under any LD50 dosage. Source That your friend died of an accident that LSD played an indirect role in might be believable. That happens all the time with alcohol, too. If you are basing your conclusions on the experience of one short decade, you have a pretty limited sample compared to some many of us. I can respect your decision to avoid being around "that shit." I feel the same way about drunks, so I avoid bars. I've never met a druggie that was more annoying than a drunk, at least due to their respective inebriating substances. Like Billvon, alcohol is the hardest drug I've ever used, and I have used A LOT of different drugs. I've admittedly slowed WAY down in my old age, but I'm not about to disregard years of first hand experience that is almost uniformly contrary to anti-drug propaganda. I'm not trying to convince you that drugs are good. However, most anyone with experience with both will tell you that illegal drugs aren't any worse (some would say not as bad) as alcohol. __________________________________ Perhaps, I should have been more specific. Her death was the result of taking acid and a header out of a 4th. floor dorm room. I haven't touched a drop of an alchoholic beverage in ten years. I agree with you about the annoying drunks. I met one or two in my day and probably was one! Before I moved away from the city I used to live in, we had a neighbor who liked crack and he was not very pleasant to be around. I've worked with one or two meth-freaks and they, were just plain nuts. I'm not basing this on a ten year period of my life. Just what I've witnessed over all the years. I've learned, sobriety is much more fun. Chuck

______________________________-- I'm well aware, folks use shit on the job. I worked for over 16-yrs. for a fuel and oil distributor. One of the propane truck drivers at that company nearly killed himself when the truck he was operating blew-up. As it turned-out, he was tokin' on a number while filling a 1,000-gal. propane tank. We had another driver 'total' another truck while 'smoking'. Those are just a couple stories. I guess, it's like when I was a kid and heard some adult, who was drunk, proclaim that he did his best driving with a six-pack in him. Chuck

Well why not? How else are we supposed to know how much things cost in your neck of the woods? _________________________ I guess, you'll just have to come check it out for yourself. Chuck

Yes, that is what I am saying. I've known and seen addiction from all kinds of drugs. I would bet a dollar against a donut that I have been witness to far more drug use than you have, judging by your posts. I have also read quite a few scientific studies on the subject, although I admittedly avoid the propaganda, except to see ludicrous examples of how dangerous drugs are. _____________________________________ I've seen enough of it to where I just don't care to be around anyone using that shit. I 'survived' the 60's and lost a good friend to acid. I've seen some good folks totally screw-up their lives from booze and dope. How much do I have to 'see' to start thinking that there is good in any of it? Chuck

and where did you come up with an idea that o=35 bucks??? normal pricing my area g=20 8er=45-75 quad=90-120 o=250-400 cutie=950-1050 hp=1750-2000 p= 3750-5000 ___________________________________ You must have my post confused with someone elses. I never quoted any prices. Chuck

I once had a Columbian friend tell me that a gram of coke, which has a street value of about $100, has a value of about $.10 at the source. I am fairly certain that if legalized, there would not be a 1000x markup on coke. That means that coke related crime would very likely plummet if coke were legal. As far as driving under the influence of cannabis, there have been multiple credible studies which indicate that cannabis has a smaller effect on a user's ability to drive as an over the counter cold medicine (used as directed). There's no reason to be any more worried about someone driving while under the influence of pot than thee is to worry about someone driving while under the influence of Sudafed. The fact is, most illegal drugs do not make the user stupid or sloppy as alcohol has a tendency to do. _________________________________ You mean to tell me that, someone swacked-out on crack is less a danger than a drunk? Have you ever seen anyone on meth? Heroin? I don't know where you get your information but it sure differs from what I've 'seen' and read. Chuck

If we legalize, could employers then choose to hire or fire based on whether the employee is a user (casual or otherwise)? _______________________________ They are doing that now. via 'pop whizzes'. Chuck

Agreed. The difference is that there are drugs (low addictive properties and minimal long term side effects) that can be used by responsible adults for recreation, religion, and medication and then there are all the other drugs. __________________________________ That's all well and good if, it were to stay with 'responsible adults. Invariably, that stuff is going to get to irresponsible adults and kids. Chuck
