I've found another good leather oil, made by Fiebing's. Simply called 'Leather Oil', contains lanolin and Silicone and comes in an aerosol can. It oils the leather yet, helps retain 'shape'. Chuck

______________________________________ The city I recently moved from, wanted to put cameras at intersections where folks were running red-lights and stop-signs all too often. The purpose: to get tag numbers and send the owner of the vehicle a ticket. Those folks, went nuts! Letters were written to the editor of the local newspaper stating their civil rights would be violated and the like. Personally, I think, it's a great idea! It answers the question: 'Where's a cop, when you need one?' Chuck A fine idea (which they do use in some cities), but my concern is this: the offender in a moving violation is the driver, not the owner. If the camera system photos both the license plate AND the driver's face, that's fine with me. But if the camera only identifies the car and plate, and not the actual driver, then - in my ever-so-humble (as always) opinon - a presumption that the owner is also the driver is improper. _______________________________________ To me, the owner of the vehicle needs to know, who is (was) driving their vehicle. A camera(s) that get the vehicle coming and going could possibly get a photo of the driver as well as the plate. All in all, I believe, the responsibility belongs with the owner of the vehicle. Chuck

I've found, hurrying the drying process tends to have adverse effects on the leather. Allowing to dry at room temperature leads to better results. I've tried both ways with holsters I've made and found the 'slower' way, works best. Chuck

I hope this is the case. Otherwise, some nuts could free him and he would be on the loose again. I think the above is the wise course of action. And wherever the gallows is located, should be ringed by U.S. soldiers to prevent any kind of rescue attempt by terrorists. ___________________________________ I think too, any way you slice it, the U.S. will get the 'blame' for Sadam's martyrdom. This will give terrorists even more reason to mete-out their form of 'justice'. Chuck

Dude, for every 3 minutes, at least 4 or 5 people run red lights in NYC. This is the big city bro. You can't arrest or ticket everyone. Besides, I'm mostly on foot so by the time I get to someone's car, they take off. I can only catch people when there's traffic. And when there's traffic, it's pretty fucked up to stop people to cause more congestion which will cause even more people to run steady red lights. So there's a catch 22 problem right there. Does the law allow you to write down the tag number and just mail them a ticket? I really wish the govt. would pass a law that makes the fine for running red light very high. Heck, in my area it's a larger fine for violating HOV restrictions than running a red light. - ______________________________________ The city I recently moved from, wanted to put cameras at intersections where folks were running red-lights and stop-signs all too often. It's also worth noting that Saudi Arabia has said that if the US pulls out of Iraq, they would support the Sunni's because of fear that they would take down the Royal Family. - __________________________________________ There's a good thought! I can see the Saudi's side. The Iraquis hang Sadam, we get blamed for it. 'W' (in his own little mind)thinks he's a hero because 'he' brought Sadam to 'justice' and gets him hanged. Thus, the proverbial' Pandora's box is opened and the world winds-up with a mess like we've never seen. I know, I'm going to sleep good! Edit to Add: Just heard on the news... Sadam is to hang at 10:00 EST! Hang-on! Chuck

The holster your dad had made for you... I assume, it is made of leather with a clip attached to the back-side? If so, wet the leather with cold water. Daub-off any excess water. Put your pistol in a plastic bag and carefully push it into the holster and let the leather dry. You'll end-up with a perfect fit for your pistol. Apply a couple light coats of neatsfoot oil to the leather and allow the oil to be absorbed into the leather. I think, you'll find a big difference. Chuck

____________________________________ I'm a bit curious, as to the end result after Sadam's hanging. Was our 9/11 and other incidences of terrorism just the beginning of world terrorism? This could get real interesting. Chuck 9/11 was simply an escallation of World-Wide Terrorism brought on by our governments attempts to ignore reality and live in La La Land. 80% of Arab Muslims are Sunni, so you are right, it could get real interesting. - __________________________________ That, pretty much, answers my question or curiosity. I know, there's a lot of folks who would like to see Sadam hang but, I was always told; "You'd better know, what you wish for!" I appreciate your in-put. Chuck

Of course, but the story takes a large number and attributes the whole number to one cause. The story should have only used the number of fatalities due to police not wearing a seatbelt. And to be really truthful only those that were not worn for the reason they claim. _________________________________ Even that figure, they don't have a number for. I thought it was a poorly written and vague article. Another one of those 'knee-jerk' stories. Chuck I think you got it right! And to call hypocrocy They got reasons that may or may not be valid but, if they stop a civilian with a holster and gun belt on in a car they had betten not ticket them ___________________________________ Naw! The numbers are a bit vague and I'm sure that some of those officers died as a result of not wearing a seat-belt. The story doesn't say, how many officers were struck and killed by passing motorists while they were out of their vehicles, either. I can't see where 'hipocrite' would enter into it. It states in the story that it is 'un-clear' as to how many officers were killed as a result of not wearing a seat-belt. The article states that "innapropriate safety equipment and lack of defensive driver training have contributed to a jump in traffic fatalities." Not so much the 'not wearing of seat-belts'. Interesting article. Chuck
