From what I read, the father and son were told it was a feral hog.... they didn't find out until after the other folks were contacted that it wasn't... ________________________________ I heard on CNN news that, the father bought the hog and set-up the story. The seller of the hog came forward later and said that the buyer was un-able to 'contain' the hog and let the boy kill it with the pistol. That was where I got the idea that it was all a 'lie' and the father wasn't a very good example. (????) This whole thing could get really interesting! Chuck

Fine father that boy has, to include his son in a 'lie'! Chuck

For the heck of it, have you checked Poynter's vol. I? I know, 4-Line releases are covered there. Chuck -

When I was working on my Master's ticket, we had a gentleman from Norway, who made his own eliptical parachute. If, I recall correctly, it was something like a 97-sq. ft. He made the first jump on it one day during the school. The whole thing, was a work of art. He got a great swoop out of it and it flew great. There's really, a lot of talent in the world. Chuck

I was always confused about why so many of the PRO LIFE side of the political spectrum are also usually PRO WAR....and PRO State Sponsored murder..ie the Death Penalty...I guess retroactive abortion is ok with them. ________________________________ Those folks are just screwed-up!!! Chuck

Someone can shoot you 8 times in the lower leg with a .50 round and I bet you won't die Good grief, if someone shot your leg eight times with a .50-cal, you might not have a leg left!!! The femural-arterial-bleed will let you live for 4, maybe 5 minutes... Actually the femoral doesn't go to the lower leg, which is why I chose that. I was exaggerating, but I'm just trying to make the point that 8 shots to certain parts of the body would be survivable under the right circumstances. In other words, the .50 didn't mean nuthin' if he couldn't hit chit to begin with. point is it shouldnt take 8 shots to kill anything, ones best two acceptable once in awhile. 3 and you need to go back and practice till you can be sure you can do it in one. _______________________________________ I don't know if, you've ever hunted feral hogs or not but, getting that good, clean, lethal shot is not that easy. A couple years ago, the rancher I work for and I, went 'pig' hunting. We were up in the rocks, when I spotted a huge sow and a group of young about 300-yds. away. He had a .270 Winchester and I had a 30-06 Remington. Both with scopes. We put 11 slugs in her (and they were all, well placed shots) before she fell dead. The rancher, estimated the sow to weigh 650-700 lbs. They aren't like deer that you can catch standing still. Pigs 'move'! In the case of the feral hog mentioned in this thread, unless it is illegal to hunt them in Georgia... I'd have gotten a game warden or a deputy sheriff to verify the kill. Chuck i have not hunted hogs my self but have many family members that do often. If any of them were to hear it took you 11 shots they would agree with me that its to many, one cousin went out and shot off 1000 rounds after it took him 3 to kill one. ________________________________ We've killed many a pig here... with one shot. At 300-yds. and a pig weighing about 700-lbs, we wanted it dead and not leave it wounded. You need to get with your family members and hunt some. You'll see, what I'm talking about. Don't get me wrong, I was raised the same way. To get that one and only 'perfect' shot. It don't always work. Chuck

_____________________________________________ True story. As big as that sow was and as fat as she was... The last shot I made was immediately below and behind her ear. They are tough... Chuck

I&R Price - Raising yours if we go to 180 days?
masterrig replied to councilman24's topic in Gear and Rigging
I've had jumpers ask me similar questions about the cheapest smallest reserves. Some want to look 'cool' with a small rig on their back. I've actually had jumpers tell me that it doesn't matter to them that their reserve wouldn't handle their weight... the way they pack, they'll never need it anyhow! I've had some jumpers squeal like a pig under a gate, when I raised my prices from $25.00 to $35.00 for an I&R. I get the distinct impression from some, that us riggers are kind of a 'necessary evil'. Just try to tell some folks that it is inevitible that if, they stay in the sport long enough, they'll have a reserve ride. Then on the other end of the spectrum, you have those folks who really listen to you as a rigger and don't look at you like you're over-paid and full of shit. Chuck
