Pretty harsh indeed. JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

Amen to that. After buying the rig and getting to know Sandy, I'd almost feel like I was betraying him by jumping another container. He's good people. JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

Shit, I can't believe someone actually researched that in such detail. Worthless hardly seemd adequate. JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

The Constitution prohibits that as cruel and unusual punishment. What I find worse than you exposing us to it is that some numb nuts actually had to be there live to take the shot. Talk about brave. JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

I have one and love it. The fact that you cannot really do down in size much on the main without the container puckering on you is the only bad thing I can say about it. I love the look, RI is awesome to deal with, it's extremely comfortable and the features equal any on the market. I'll get another for my second rig as soon as I stop spending money on X-mas stuff. Yeah the Sabre probably will last longer, but you are not not going to jump either for more than a few hundred jumps, before you progress onto something else. So either will do you fine. I'd go for the Silhouette. JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

The Sil is a tapered or semi-eliptical, so it will turn faster. It is a hybrid canopy so it will pack pretty easy compared to an all Z-P canopy. I still have a Sil 135, with no rig to put it into and when I flew it I loved it. Compared to the Sabre it is all around better. The openings are brisk, but I never got slammed by it, like the Sabre1 is rumored to occasionally do. Neither is considere high performance, so the riser pressure is going to be a little heavy. Sabre a touch more so. Flare on both is good. Glide ratio is better on the Sil. Just my opinion. JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

I had a demo 105 that was awesome on openings....I guess every canopy is gonna be a tad different. On my 120 I have never been slammed. In fact I pack it loose as possible to open it quicker. I have not dumped at terminal...nor intend to. But I have dumped directly from a track and from a sit. Dan what is the difference between the comp Cobalt and the regular as far as openings? What about flight differences? Obviously the Comp model has lighter riser pressure, dives easier, longer recovery arc. JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

Like I said, If you know the canopy and feel confident on that suggestion, who be I to argue? Peace love and condoms, that's my motto. JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

My point exactly, you can hurt yourself under any canopy. Yet here we have some people telling a 28 jump skydiver that a semi-eliptical canopy is fine for him. I disagree. I think the Tri is a better choice for a few 50 jumps. In another post we got people talking a guy out of going to a Diablo at 70 jumps. I'm not familiar with either canopy, (one jump on a Spectre) but the Tri would seem to be a safer choice at 28 jumps. Just my .02 again. We got a few people out there that know the Spectre pretty well, if they think he's good under it at a 1 to 1 ratio at 28 jumps, who am I argue? JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

So many movies, so little time....but how about Charlie Sheen in Terminal Velocity: I think she has done to bullshit what Stonehenge did for Rocks. JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

News from the 300-way - the day before
JJohnson replied to billvon's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Too cool Billy. Thanks for the update. Wish you all safety and victory. JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls" -
I may be a little cautious here and I certainly don't mean to preach, but a Spectre is elliptical. At 28 jumps you might be better off under the Tri. You'll certainly appreciate the easier packing. A Tri was my first canopy off student status and it was a great canopy for my skill level. Just my .02 cents worth. JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

If given the choice I'd take the Florida tunnel over Vegas. But if i happened to be in Sin City, I'd certainly go play in tunnel there. I've been in both tunnels and even the Vegas tunnel offers some benefit to developing skills. The arch is a little modified compared to what you can do in Florida. You have to where a big ballon suit in Vegas and the tunnel is hotter than hell. If ou are there by all means go and play. JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

The card shows and explains to the x-ray tech what they are looking at. If they question the Cypress it helps. I have had to use it once. If they don't ask, don't worry. But if they ask, you;ll wish you had the card. JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

Obviously the freefall was way too lomg, but I never knew how bad. I own copies of Terminal Velocity and Drop Zone, I'm gonna have to time them now. Point Break did have some great scenery. I'd put LP on a par with that. Anyone know where Point Break was shot over? JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

Out of curiosity, could you substitute your Golden's name for any of the following: 1) moron 2) Selectively dumb as a box of rocks 3) bed hog 4) attention deprived.no matter how long you pet him 5) thief...as in stop retreiving the TV remote, that butcher knife, that bra... I guess my real question is did I get a defective dog or do all Goldens stay like this their whole life? Him trying to mount my wife's daschund is the best. JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

How to kill yourself downsizing, a stupid man's tale.
JJohnson replied to Deuce's topic in The Bonfire
I'd rather hear a stupid man's tale than a dead man's any day. Glad you're okay. It don't suprise that Alan cut you off either.....it's just Alan. Tell him I said hi. Peace, JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls" -
Just watched it last night. I wondered how he timed those jumps so perfectly to land on a moving object at high speed. All in all the movie kinda sucked. Best part was Yoda jumping around like Sonic the hedgehog. JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

Alright, my Golden Retriever is named Bodhi, after Point Break. I know at least three dogs named Quincy, a Macaw named Freefall and a cat named Splat. What other names have you people used for pets? JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls"
-
I named my Golden Retriever Bodhi, after Patrick Swayze's character in the movie, so I kinda of got a soft spot for the movie. (It was the only decent movie I could remember with skydiving in it and it seems everybody has a pet named Quincy. Although I guess Rantoul is an option for new pets...) So everytime it comes on my dog bugs me until I turn it on. So in watching it this time I decided I'd actually time the free fall. Actually it was my dog's idea, but he don't have a watch. (I bought him one but it keeps sliding off his leg.) On their first jump, they get 4 solid minutes of freefall. Of course not to mention the fact that it is Keanu's first jump and he manages to get in a 5 way without taking it out and the obvious lung power they have to communicate in free fall. I also noticed for the first time the Keanu was also smart enough to steer his canopy using risers....always something a first time jumper does. On their second jump...when Keanu throws himself out the plane without a chute to chase Patrick......They get a full minute of free fall....from 4000 feet..... Tonight for shits and grins I think I'll watch Terminal Velocity and Drop Zone to see how long their free fall lasted, unless anyone knows already. JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

The Safire is a nice all around canopy. Front riser pressure is decent, not light but decent. The openings are brisk without being hard. Not a snivel in the least. Canopy performs nicely in pretty much any circumstances. Crossfire is prone to sniveling, according to Icarus a smaller slider can be put on them to speed the opening up. The Crossfire will handle much better and land faster than the Safire...by far. Depending on if the canopy is pre-mod or not will determine the front riser pressure. A modified Crossfire normal has much greater front riser pressure. I'd take a Cobalt over either of them and have not jumped a CF2 yet to judge against that. JJ JJ "Call me Darth Balls"
