  1. To be honest, I was under the impression that that was precicely what winsor was getting at with his use of the term "tragic creature". But as kallend indicates, interpretation is everything. And before you come after me, identifying as another gender does not make you tragic. What is to become of his life now certainly is. To see quade come back with the "he did it first" defense only increases my disappointment in this forum. Guess I am too thin-skinned for this internet thingy.
  2. All my time on the internet I have never seen such a thinly veiled personal insult by a mod. I might even be offended if I believed in such a thing.
  3. Careful with the use of the word equivalent. It is currently illegal for me to carry a loaded fire arm in my car. That sounds a lot like an open container law. ETA: But I do think it is legal for my arms to be on fire
  4. Open container laws are the banning of an improper use of an object/substance. There are many laws already banning the improper use of firearms which most people have no problem with. I don't think anyone is advocating the legalization of firing off a gun into a crowd of people (clearly an improper use of an object) A more direct comparison with taking away guns (the object) would be the complete banning of beer because there are drunk drivers. Your comparison doesn't make any sense.
  5. Having a wedding on or around a holiday is like saying "I don't care if you had plans, my life is more important than yours." One thing people who are getting married forget is that other people tend to make travel plans around holidays well in advance. You are guilty of the exact thing you are complaining about. I may be a little bitter. There was a 4th of July wedding not too long ago where, I shit you not, the couple decided to stretch out the activities an extra day because everyone had vacation anyway.
  6. I'll have to assume that they are both 223 as I just did a Google Image search but you are exactly right. The first image is a short barreled rifle while the other is a pistol. The short barreled rifle is illegal. The pistol is legal. Gun laws are brilliant.
  7. Haha, I guess it does. The answer has more to do with classification.
  8. True that does make it scary but not the answer I am looking for.
  9. Who knows the main difference between these two weapons?
  10. Thanks everybody for the advice. I think I am going to go with IHI. It is a little more expensive but it really seems to cover everything.
  11. So is that just third-party private liability insurance?
  12. I am making a trip to Germany for work and am looking to make a skydive while I’m there if time/weather allows. So far I am having trouble getting information from the contact I was given and was hoping someone on here could answer what may be a very stupid question. In the original contact it was stated I would need my log book, license, and insurance license. The first two are no problem but I am not really sure what the insurance license is. Do I just need proof of insurance, or is this another way to refer to a waiver?
  13. I think you are all missing the point. Hover-Boards!
  14. I will flat out admit that football is a game of sprints. In fact, no lineman should ever have to move more than 10 yards (albeit 10 yards pushing an incredibly large man who is pushing in the exact opposite direction). That being said, your logic only seems to reiterate the fallacy I was trying to point out. If rugby players are so big, how do they train for size and endurance? Once again, I love rugby! I have just tried to limit the number of physical sports I take part in outside of skydiving. It would really suck to lose a couple of months skydiving because I threw my back out bowling.
  15. It seems to me to would be very unwise to assume that just because they don't, it must mean they can't.
  16. I am surprised no one has posted this yet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7tGY-VDx3o Do I really believe that these rugby players are some of the hardest hitters ... no. But calling Jammer one of the hardest hitters in football is more than a stretch. Both sports are incredibly physical. Saying otherwise proves you know nothing about that sport. Also, with the exception of only the biggest linemen in the NFL I think you would be very surprised by both the speed and stamina of football players. I have a lot of respect for rugby and think it is awesome to watch. I just wish it was easier to find on TV over here.

Spoiler!! Why couldn't they have been dropped in by different aircrafts with advanced gps? You have to have a certain suspension of disbelief when you watch a movie like this. I tend to just fill in the blanks myself. Like the ridiculous explosion from the single claymore. The friend I was with looked at me like "Wow that was stupid." and I just said to him, "It's ok, those tunnels were filled with methane." Like I said, fill in the blanks and take a B movie for what it is worth.
  18. But how would he have known with out wearing the glasses?
  19. Coming from someone with an actual understanding of thermodynamics. "As for the influence of carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas: on a normal day the atmosphere contains 10,000 ppm (parts per million) of water vapor and about 300 ppm of carbon dioxide. The government-paid scientists say that an increase of 100 ppm of CO2 over the next 50 years will result in a catastrophic warming. The thermal absorptivity of water vapor is 4 times larger than that of carbon dioxide; it follows that the CO2 increase will increase the overall thermal absorptivity of the mixture by about 1/4 of one percent."; -- Marc Jeric MS and PhD degrees from UCLA, with majors in thermodynamics and heat & mass transfer Is there global climate change? Maybe, it is really starting to seem less likely. Why not be responsible anyway? Exactly, why try and close discussion and dump all your money and time into one topic that will only make 0.25% of a difference over the next 50 years?
  20. (Alright I can't really take credit for this but I think this is another side.) "Do you believe gay people should be allowed to get married? ... No! At the moment many gay couples are providing a service that they may not even know about. Thanks to progressive companies like (I really hate to admit this but this company in particular does provide this.) Starbucks, many companies will provide health insurance for your live in partner. If homosexuals were allowed to marry then all the heterosexual couples would be forced into marrying their working counterpart in order to receive benefits. Please ... look into your hearts ... don't force me to get married!!!"
  21. Sorry about that. I didn't realize that Google finance adjusted for splits. I will be the first to admit that econ was never my thing. That being said, it still looks like the numbers for Dell were a little bit cherry-picked. http://www.google.com/finance?q=dell Every tech company saw a huge losses when the tech bubble burst around 2000. Dell seems like they were almost out of the hole by 2005. HP didn't really come close. Maybe if it had been "Dude you're getting a HP"
  22. I believe there was 2 for 1 stock split in 2000. The numbers are still really bad but saying there was a loss of 60% isn't really the truth.
  23. I think this statement is based on what you perceive. Remember, if something is slanted and you are slanted in the same direction it looks straight. This, like most things, applies to both sides.
  24. I was given the opportunity to work with a very sophisticated S.E.M. and I found this particle at 10,000x magnification. Not a perfect match, but it sure makes me laugh every time.
