How you doin'? Im fabulous
-
Psssst!! You're all damn sexy! Thats what I meant! thanks for correcting!

Youre asking SKYDIVERS.... How many of these guys do you know that absolutely will not be with a woman if she isnt Barbie??? We spend our weekends outside in the nasty heat/cold doing what we love. And that's skydiving. I know maybe one girl that still looks drop dead gorgeous while doing it (I know I dont) but that doesnt mean they arent damn sexy.

I'm trying to hold back laughter but I can't. Sorry! So that's a no?

This may be a small community, but it's a HUGE support system

shhhhhh.... Dont tell anyone, it's a secret.

It doesnt have to stop you, you can always lose that 10lbs.... I know that sounds harsh, but I know of more than one person that did lose weight in order to jump. There is a guy at my dz who lost a lot more than 10lbs so he could jump. Yeah I'd love to just go outside and go for a run. I've got Rheumotoid Arthritis which makes some exercises very difficult and painful however if there is no alternative I will lose the weight, no question about it. I have RA as well. Ive found that regular exercise helps my joints feel MUCH better. That initial push does suck tho I agree. Start slow and work your way up. I really hurt myself in high school by over pushing my limits. I wish you the best of luck

Hey! Im dating a guy sub-5'10! But Lucky is right...

I got my card signed off at 3 different DZs. Just let the people in the office know youre still on student status and need to speak to an instructor. (and my understanding about jumping your own pack job, is making sure it works.... that's what I was told anyways. I packed my first unassisted one just as bad weather rolled in and didnt end up jumping that pack job)

Have you talked to your DZO about buying the RW suit you wore as a student?? Thats what I did. I couldnt afford to by a new jumpsuit, so I made an offer for one of the DZs. Yeah it may be a little dirty, but it would be an RW suit. Just a thought. (also the pit special is a tighter suit than their other RW suit. Thats my understanding anyways)

Moving off student gear this weekend!
amstalder replied to JMS8800's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I give no advice on this. I went bigger than what I was advised to buy for my first canopy... I was just giving you the link to 8888's thread. It's an interesting read. -

Thank you for posting that link

Or after landing the person steps through some lines. I've packed myself a step through twice and landed both of them. But then were simple flip step throughs, not crazy ones like in this vid. That was the sort of step through I have learned about. What exactly would cause the lines tangle above the step through?

Picture #3 is my favorite! I love seeing that look on peoples faces

Why can't you fly in deep brakes on any load? This is a very good point... I was just thinking about the loads where I land out, and it's always been first load.
-
I don't roll the nose of my canopy and I barely tuck it inside. and then when I bring the tail around and wrap the seams together, I only roll it once or twice, just enough to hold it together when I set it down. Those were the things recommended to me by my dz's packers when I first got the canopy and it was taking 1000 ft to open (which really scared me bc I was in the saddle so low). I hope that makes sense, I am really terrible at trying to explain these things.
-
Sure ya can. Have you flown it in deep brakes yet? Honestly, I havent... I'll have to try that next time Im on first load. Thanks for the tip
-
I have a Spectre150 loaded at 0.8:1. I absolutely love it. I pack it now so that it snivels for 300-500 ft, but I have had snivels for as long as 1000ft. One of the jumpers at my dz has almost 1000 jumps on his Spectre and swears he'll never jump another canopy. He also told me that of those jumps, he's had maybe 5 hard openings. And of the 40 jumps I've put on mine, Ive always had absolutely glorious openings. The only thing I dont like is I cant get back from a long spot or jump in high winds, but a lot of that has to do with my wingloading.

WOW. Thats intense. I guess if she got pregnant, thatd be an easy way to figure out which guy is the daddy?

For me it wasnt normal, but I had more than one friend in high school that were all about blowing every other guy in school. (I think Im most disturbed by the fact that these are high schoolers... Maybe I was overly innocent and prudish in high school, but Im pretty happy with my lack of STDs/babies/etc). Oh and who lists this stuff for anyone to find???
