  5. oh btw, just FYI - anyone who has good pictures that need to be posted to the website let me know.. (the goldcoast website that is). Kevin
  6. I bet doing wingsuit docks would be more common with people jumping canopies like this right chuck?
  7. Oh, that. There's nothing we can do. People will keep getting hurt under canopies too small for their skill-level, until it's made impossible by regulations. Here in Finland the regulations are already there: People under 250 jumps have to jump "non-elliptical" canopies loaded under 1,34. The "peer-pressure"-thingie will have no effect on those who would need it the most. Does non-elliptical include semi-elliptical (such as the Hornet) or can you guys not jump those either?
  8. I wanna see the video of this RC guy!
  9. I'll be there, with my wings on :) Fly in on the 6th leave on the 9th.
  10. You could carry it with you and say to the TSA people "hey! Look damn it, this is what is in my friggin rig okay? you wanna touch it?? now let me on the damn airplane"
  11. I was thinking it would be worth it to buy one to make a camera recovery system if you chop your camera a mini parachute capable of bringing it to a "safer" landing.. Is this a good idea or not? I guess since it is un-airworthy and that means it could misfire then that would be bad.. right? BTW he only has 2 left I think
  12. Here Check out the pics on his other auction here he just does not want to be seen does he! :) This time with an email from Chris in the description! Hi , you are bidding on a cypres skydiving aad , model expert . I had 8 of these and now have only 2 left . The one you are bidding on is the one you see in the pictures which is still sealed in the plastic bag . This is the way they come back from the inspection , so i dident want to open it . You can still read the serial number , date of manufactur , etc... in pictures , even through the plastic . The other pictures you see ( where the unit is not in the plastic bag ) are from a previous auction and i just left those pictures in this ad so you can see what they look like more clearly . So just to be absolutly clear , you are bidding on the cypress that's still sealed in the plastic bag . This unit has just recently had it's inspection this year ( 2002 ) . It's date of manufacture is 1 / 94 , so there are no other inspections due for the rest of it's life . The winning bidder must please ad $8 to the final price for shipping and handling in the states and canada . All other countries are $20 for S+H . Shipping will be with ups standard service and i will email you the tracking number the same day your payment arrives and i send it out . I dont use pay pal , but if you want to pay by credit card your welcome to use the BID PAY service at WWW.BIDPAY.COM . This unit ( along with the others i have ) , where all in a train wreck . Because of this , some people are concerned that they might not work . If you are going to bid on this item , be prepared to be harrased by do gooders who are convinced that these units must be damaged ( even though they've never seen them ) , and that they therefore must be your certain death . The only peoples opinion about these units , that i will even consider worthy mentioning , are the manufacturers and their reprasentatives in the states . I have received the following email from SSK Industries , and they are the ones who do the inspections on these units in north america . I think i cant get any fairer then to show their email which voices their concerns in this auction . HOWEVER , after you finish reading their email , you can continue reading to see my opinion on this issue . Ok , first here is the email from SSK . . Hi There, have received a couple emails concerning this listing our Company is the Western Hemisphere Service Center for CYPRES just so you know, these are the same devices as those in listing 1848847597 from early August - the seller withdrew the auction at our urging they are included on the list of "Missing / Non-Airworthy CYPRES Units" at www.CYPRES-USA.com these 8 CYPRES units were in a UPS shipment to a single customer - the shipment was involved in a train wreck - UPS declared the contents damaged / lost, and did the insurance claim they are listed in our data base as "lost - condition unknown - irreparable" based on UPS's description of what happened, the fact that they volunteered to do the insurance claim, and because there is no way we can tell what physical stresses they were subjected to, there is no way that we can perform any sort of check-out with any degree of certainty in the opinion of Airtec (the German manuacturer), these 8 CYPRES units should be considered unairworthy, and not be used for life saving applications - this is not to say that they do not necessarily work, however there is no way to know via inspection or test what their functional condition will be over the next four years (until the end of the 12-year lifetime) if you decide to continue this auction, please add the above statements - however, what we would really really like to do is get these "off the street" - is there something we might be able to work out so they do not keep re-appearing?? thanks for your consideration, just trying to keep skydivers safe, and reduce everyones risk exposure (your's, our's, and ebay's included) Cliff Schmucker, SSK Industries, Inc. OK , NOW FOR MY OPINION . First of all , i dont think it's fair for anyone to say that these units are unairworthy , when they havent even seen them . Also , there are plenty of documented cases where a cypres has not worked ( malfunctiond ) , even though they where newer units , with up to date inspections , fresh batteries , and considerd airworthy . So it just goes to show , that there is never a 100% guarantee , that these units will work . If they've been in a train crash or not . Any skydiver with half a brain will always be aware of his altitude , and will not rely on a cypress to save his butt . I have turned these units on , and they all performed their self check countdown perfectly . The countdown started at 9999 , counted down to 6350 , stopped there for about 2 seconds and then continued to count down to 5000 , then continued down to 100 , and finally went down to 0 . Each time it hit one of the above mentiond numbers , the unit paused for about 2 seconds , as it's supposed to do . Also , there is absolutly no damage to the exterior of these units what so ever . If you are bidding on this auction , then i,m assuming that you are a adult skydiver who has enougth brains to make up his own mind as to what he considers a risk . For those who are wondering , yes i am a skydiver , and i am using one of these units myself . So that's about it . Now you've heard ssk's opinion and mine . This should be enougth information for you to make up your own mind if you consider this item ok or not . THANK'S FOR LOOKING AND PLEASE DONT FORGET TO CHECK MY OTHER AUCTIONS FOR MORE INTERESTING ITEMS !!!

  18. Story At 1665 feet you know someone will.. I used to know a guy who did WTC years ago and got away with it. NEW YORK (CNN) -- Two architectural teams were named finalists Tuesday in the competition to design what will be built on the World Trade Center site, each proposing plans that would create the tallest structures in the world, easily dwarfing the twin towers destroyed in the September 11 terrorist attacks. Studio Daniel Libeskind of Berlin, Germany, and a New York-led team dubbed THINK were named finalists by the Lower Manhattan Development Corp. THE LMDC, a city-state agency overseeing the rebuilding process, chose them from among seven contenders. Both plans feature structures that would reach 300 feet or more higher than the World Trade Center's 110-story twin towers, and surpass the tallest buildings in the world, the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They would create signature structures where the twin towers had dominated the landscape of Lower Manhattan. The developer holding the lease at the Trade Center when it was attacked has said he is opposed to erecting such tall structures, telling officials that "super-tall office buildings" are no longer practical. A committee -- including representatives of the LMDC, the site's owner, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the office of Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and Gov. George Pataki -- chose the finalists. It is expected to settle on a single land-use plan by the end of the month. Popular plans Daniel Libeskind's team and the THINK team, led by Fred Schwartz and Rafael Vinoly, were among the seven groups that offered elaborate plans for the 16-acre site and its immediate surroundings in mid-December. "In the aftermath of these tragedies, there is optimism," said Libeskind, a Polish-born American and the son of Holocaust survivors. "We remember every day what we lost so we can envision something great for the future," said Schwartz, a New Yorker whose office has a view of Ground Zero. Both plans received popular acclaim in the thousands of comments submitted at a public exhibition of the architects' models and to the LMDC's Web site. People especially praised their skyline-restoring components, noting that each plan would establish soaring structures in the spot where the 1,360-foot towers stood. The centerpiece of Libeskind's proposal is a 1,776-foot-tall, spindle-shaped tower that would be filled above the 70th floor with indoor gardens. Libeskind would leave portions of the 70-foot-deep Ground Zero pit open, exposing the concrete foundation walls that survived the towers' collapse. He sets aside five parcels for 7.5 million square feet in office space. THINK proposes a pair of 1,665-foot open latticework towers, reminiscent of the Eiffel Tower, rising from the footprints of the twin towers and housing cultural facilities. The towers would contain viewing platforms near the top and project beams of lights into the sky at night. The team proposes eight mid-sized office buildings around the towers, none higher than 59 floors, with a total of 8.5 million square feet of office space. Each finalist also allocates space for a memorial, a major new train station, shopping areas, a hotel and parks. Both plans go back on public display in the atrium of the World Financial Center, adjacent to Ground Zero, February 7. Plans 'not practical' Libeskind has designed the Jewish Museum in Berlin, Germany, the War Museum in Manchester, England, and an expansion of the Denver Art Museum, soon to be under construction in Colorado. Schwartz designed the new Staten Island Ferry Terminal under construction in Lower Manhattan. Vinoly, just named to design two buildings on the plaza of the JFK Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, designed the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the Tokyo International Forum in Japan. The plans will be evaluated not only for their aesthetics, but also for their workability -- how they restore the grid of streets in Lower Manhattan, how they affect traffic flow, how they connect to surrounding neighborhoods, and how their construction will be phased in over the years. "No plan, in its current configuration, is perfect," said LMDC board member Roland Betts, who sits on the design decision committee. Larry Silverstein, the developer who signed a 99-year lease on the Trade Center six weeks before the complex was destroyed, said he opposes building such towering structures. "It is not practical to build super-tall office buildings in the post-9/11 world," Silverstein told the LMDC in a nine-page letter dated January 31. "The occupied portion of any building" on the site should be "no more than 65 to 70 stories (900 to 1,000 feet) in height." No building should be larger than 2.5 million square feet, Silverstein said. Each twin tower had 4 million square feet of space. Citing advice from his architectural, engineering, and security experts, Silverstein argued against building anything as high as the twin towers. Increased evacuation times and the difficulty of fighting a fire in such a tall building make such plans unrealistic, he said. Also planned for the site: a memorial to nearly 2,800 people who died when two hijacked airliners slammed into the towers. It will be the first project built after an international design competition that commences this spring.
  19. humm... i'll let you touch my ass, but no kicking please.
  20. There is a bridge day in CA? I thought that was WV.
  21. Dang! I think I waited 11 weeks for my suit.. but 8 week sfor pantz? Wow.
  22. I got a smoke bracket in this week with the intent of eventually jumping smoke with birdman.. only problem is because of the design of the bracket (it comes over the top of your shoe) and because my booties are so tight, there is no way for the bracket to go over the bootie. When I put the bootie over the bracket, the bracket can still be cut away just not as easily. So the solution to this is to fold the booties up into the leg and not use them. My first birdman flight was like this because the suit was too small for me.. I know the suit can be flown without booties, just curious how much performance loss to expect.
