Funny smartass.. i'm sure similar comments were made when someone said "lets try and strap this snowboard on our feet and fly around the sky with it"

Look like he was a little too eager to carry a gun in the cockpit.. Here NEW YORK (CNN) -- Authorities arrested a Northwest Airlines pilot Tuesday after authorities found a gun in his bag at LaGuardia Airport, the Queens, New York, district attorney's office said. The pilot was identified as Robert Donaldson, 43. Law enforcement sources said he was carrying a 9mm handgun. It was discovered during a routine security screening at about 5:45 a.m. EST. Donaldson was scheduled to fly Flight 1191, a Boeing 757, to Detroit, Michigan, at 6 a.m. The flight was canceled. The Transportation Security Administration made the discovery and notified the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police, authority spokesman Tony Ciavolella said. Donaldson was being held pending arraignment later Tuesday on a charge of criminal possession of a loaded gun, the district attorney's office said.

Was wondering - these canopies that have logos, brand names, etc.. on them (Such as a Yahoo! canopy) that are used for promo jumps.. how are those made? Is that a print on the fabric or is it a logo sewn on the parachute? What is the typical cost involved with getting a "custom" canopy?

Dude I find that hard to believe.. 41 mph??

Have you heard of the National Skydiving Association?

I went ahead and registered nationalskydiving.com and nationalskydivingassociation.com if someone wants to develop a website clearning up with the NSA really is let me know. Kevin -
Ugh.. i just got off the phone with US Airways...

Talked to TSA.. she talked to her supervisor.. and they came to the concensus that "it's not on the prohibited items list, so you should be able to take it on, however it is up to the screener to determine if it could be used as a weapon" -- *rolls eyes* I then asked something to the effect of, if the screener saw some action movie the weekend before where they used a parachute during some action scene and the screener thought it could be used for such thing -- he could deny me boarding ? She suggested I print off the approved items list and take it with me. -
It seems like since nasa has so much money to do all these stupid tests & calculations, they should setup a 200-way test dummie group they can dump out of a c-5 and actually test this theory.. look at all the data from the dummies.. and with them being dummies they can ensure they are put as close as their calculations say they need to be.

You should give them a call and ask them if there is a closer dz. They will tell you that THEY are the AUTHORIZED DZ for your area. I wish they would come get their crashed up airplane. Judy Oh just wait.. it's gonna be funny when I have the convo with them. "are you the closest to Jackson??" "we are the NSA authorized center for your area" "well I just looked at nationalskydivingassociation.com and it specifically states that you're full of it"
-
What pisses me off (i just found out about this over the weekend) is when you search for mississippi skydiving it comes up with this website which sure does look like it is advertising for a DZ in misssissippi.. well being the webmaster for the only dz in MS (gold coast) i know this website isn't an ad for that dz... get to looking more and it's "Adventure Skydiving" certified "NSA" staff. I took it upon myself to register nationalskydiving.com and nationalskydivingassociation.com so that I can put the word out that the NSA is a scam. This just pisses me off.. so deceptive. If anyone has the time to make a website for these domains let me know. Kevin

I know these threads have been brought up over and over again, and how airlines are hit and miss on carrying out rigs.. but I am trying to prepare for my trip to mardi gras boogie and US Airways has the cheapest fare.. so I called US Airways since their website has no info on parachute policies.... talked to the lady.. her first response when I asked about carrying it on was "how big is it" in a very surprised tone, almost as if "of course you should be able to carry it on, unless it's way too big" i told her it was a standard carry on size but that some airlines have had "issues" in the past. She put me on hold came back and said that you can bring a parachute as long as it doesn't have a "cartridge" now I knew immediately what she was probably talking about, but I played dumb. So she was like "i'm not sure what that is, hold on let me check" she went away and came back and said it had something to do with opening the parachute. I inquired more and she told me I should call the TSA and ask them. Gave me the number of 866-289-9673. I'm curious if they have now outright banned AADs from coming on airplanes. -
My hornet 135 has about 150 jumps on it and the rigger said it was velcrow that was doing that. Let me know what pisa tells ya. Kevin

Correct me if i'm wrong, but the question was slowest REGULAR track.. i.e. no birdman suit, correct?

He failed the police academy b/c he is scared of guns, though he's had his narc training. The person I got him from travled so much she felt bad she had to board him all the time. He's a good dog, though he's getting waaay to comfortable peeing on the carpet. He's spending his days in puppy-jail (the crate) now.

why aren't wingsuits made with a larger surface area?
kevin922 replied to Newbie's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Uh yeah, I would like. -
Hey kevin, I know you like the birdman, If your thinking of doing a smoke jump with a birdman suit, you should talk to someone with a lot of experience before doing it. Jari from Birdman would be a good place to start. Adding a smoke canister to your leg, and the way a canopy deploys with a birdman suit, is a bad combination. But it does look cool! Yeah I emailed jari about it.. awaiting a reply

Post some pics!!! Yeah right .. like you really did that.. i think a picture is the only way to prove you're not BSing all of us. No body could bear the pain of a 10 guage in their nipple.. c'mon

What the hell is a hurricane? Never heard of that
-
Well it's pretty noticeable if you have them -- i can easily see my black ribs through the white wing when just looking at the wing in person. I thought it would be a neat effect, it came out just like I expected.
-
Oh cool you have different colored ribs too.. i didn't think many people did that.

Dude, that "cheetah-man" is the worlds fastest man.. he's no slacker.. and giraffes can run 30 mph when they are going at it... I'd like to see you run against a giraffe.. or from one hehe of course they shoulda put cheetah boy up against a cheetah.. i guess since you're not likely to get eaten by a giraffe they decided to do it that way.. but still i think they could have setup a 100 M cage. or however far they are running the little people are comming!
