I don't know what asaf had but I'm pretty sure (all kidding aside) it isn't the one scott is hinting at.

Jari, and no that wasn't the suit in fact the suit you think you saw wasn't a suit at all

Just a bump to let people know the scans are up, check the front page of flybirdman.com

Not sure the logic to not responding to it, if you want we can start a new thread. I think this raises a serious question that should be thought out instead of passed off as pure wingsuit-pilot error. How do you know you won't find yourself staring at the props of an aircraft when you're flying? Shit happens, it's nice to be prepared for it. I'm interseted in what your opinion is on what you should do in such a scenerio, as of right now it sounds like your stance is to "follow your flight plan no matter what". Again, i am talking about a what-if scenerio right now, not what happened in eloy - but the thought process came from the description of the eloy event.
-
how the hell does smoking gun get copies of these things so fast!
-
I"m not disagreeing with any of what you said betsy, i'm saying envison the scenerio where you tell the pilot one thing get out only to see the pilot do the exact opposite of what you're expecting and thus putting your life in danger. (again not saying that is what happened here, though it was a question I raised). I'm not going to intentionally fly into the path of a plane because i was told that was the direction i'm supposed to go, that's assinine. (yes I'm aware with the eloy scenerio there are other planes that you could be interfering with.. yada yada). Pilots are human, they make mistakes - i've flown with exceptional pilots who forgot to make the low pass for 1 jumper on the load, does that make him a bad pilot? No. Furthermore every skydiver should be concerned with safety on the load, if I go up to the pilot (yes not while on jump run) and confirm with them certain aspects about the flight (ie "i'm going to be flying wingsuit, i'm going out the plane and to the left - are you aware of this?") i shouldn't be frowned upon. Its the person who gets on the plane says absolutely nothing and then gets out and flys you should wonder about.

I'm kinda confused as to what happened here. First of all I don't recommend going against the "predetermined flight plan" however it sounds as if this pilot didn't acknowledge he was aware of what the protocol for wingsuit flight was. I think Scott has pointed out in previous articles it is important that the pilot knows where wingsuit flyers are going, etc. This pilot may have known it but wasn't really acknowledging it based on what greybeard posted (other than the "you should fly the path from the groundbrief" which may have changed based on various conditions). Now secondly, if I exit an aircraft and plan on turning left and then see the pilot turning left as well that doesn't logically seem like a smart plan to continue with. I guess that raises a question : You brief your pilot you are a wingsuit flyer, you tell the pilot you are going left out the aircraft, you exit the aircraft and then see the pilot descend to the left which is in your flight area. What do you do? There is always the "other side of the story" to be told but this version does raise some questions

warmer weather? :) it was a pleasure meeting you betsy! Sad I didn't get to see you in a wingsuit during the boogie.

Dealers don't get any special deals... your best bet is to find a used one. Even if you bought a new one, i'm not sure you'd have it by march.

How do I set up for custom embroidery on a rig?
kevin922 replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
Also taking it to have things like that done after the fact I believe violates the TSO. I know dying your rig violates it, I would assume taking it to someone to have that done would as well. -
Make sure you're not in a stolen car and have a bunch of cocaine on you :) http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/news/01042004_nw_swearing.html ALLENTOWN, PA-January 4, 2004 — A motorist who cursed at a police officer in an unmarked car was arrested after being pulled over by the officer, who discovered that the vehicle was stolen and contained cocaine. Allentown police Lt. Dwight Steidel said he was driving an unmarked police cruiser at about 11:30 p.m. Friday when he stopped at a red light behind a silver sport utility vehicle. When the light turned green, the SUV driver did not move and continued talking to someone standing on the sidewalk, Steidel said. "I rolled down my window and told him to move or pull over," Steidel stated in his report. "He immediately began to curse at me. I believe he did not know I was a police officer." The SUV driver, identified by police as Rico Cordero of Allentown, had his license suspended and the 2003 SUV he was driving had been stolen in Bethlehem, police said. After his arrest, authorities said, Cordero was searched at police headquarters and was in possession of cocaine and a large amount of cash. He was charged with drug possession, possession with intent to deliver, receiving stolen property and driving with a suspended license, police spokesman Daryl Hendricks said. Cordero was sent to Lehigh County Prison and was being held on $100,000 bail, Hendricks said.

Yep john vincent did it, he used to jump at gold coast with me.. last I heard he was in jail for vehicular manslaughter.. I saw him on TLC at one point talking about base jumping

*** If you look at your slowest vertical speed of 47mph, what kind of vertical speeds do tracking skydivers get as a comparison to birdsuits? Do you jump into the wind or away from the wind for the longest flights? Thanks. a tailwind provides for longer flights. I've had horizontal speeds of 120+ mph with vertical speeds in the 40's / 30's during that time.

Ok better question, who IS/was mr bill? I've seen "Mccolkey" (sp)? from the base arena, but who was mr bill?
-
uh are you smoking crack?

Tell Chuckie I'm lovin him a third time!!!! I should be partying with my long lost twin brother from whom I was seperated at birth tonight!!! So what'd ya think of the wingsuit, Derek? Still gonna sell your rig? Derek rocked ass on the wingsuit, I went out with him & chuck on his 2nd? or 1st? flight.. I was having to haul ass to catch up to him.

I wish i had video of my 1st balloon jump i did out there a few days ago -- i did a wingsuit out of it with 3 other wingsuits on board.. got 40 seconds from 5k :) grrr no video *sniffle*

Yep that is nice.. might want to make it so you can have a can on either side or be able to position the can on either side so you can have one on the left foot & one on the right foot. How do you cut the thing away? if you need some beta testers send me a msg I jump smoke with my wingsuit a good bit :) Kevin

I'm guessing http://www.gallupextreme.com/1.2.1.1.html# this is it? I think someone has posted about jumping with him before.

http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/Northeast/12/19/wtc.plan/index.html NEW YORK (CNN) -- The Freedom Tower, proposed to restore Lower Manhattan's skyline, will still be one of the world's tallest buildings, according to a revised model unveiled Friday by the architects collaborating on its design. The tower, designed to be a centerpiece of the rebuilding plan for the World Trade Center site, will rise 1,776 feet -- a nod to the year the United States won its independence. The height stays as originally proposed a year ago by architect Daniel Libeskind, since designated the site's master planner. The downed 110-story Twin Towers of the World Trade Center site were once the world's tallest structures but ranked about fifth before the attacks. The tower's angular shape and appearance has been altered as a result of Libeskind's work with David Childs, the architect for real estate developer Larry Silverstein, the trade center leaseholder. Silverstein hopes to replace all 10 million square feet of commercial space lost in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack that destroyed the World Trade Center. The intentional crashes of hijacked passenger jets leveled the Twin Towers and five smaller buildings, killing 2,752 people. Libeskind and Childs, forced to work together by rebuilding officials, were asked to submit a final design this week by New York Gov. George Pataki, who wants to break ground on the building before the Republican National Convention next August. The new building design, unveiled at Federal Hall, the site of President George Washington's first inaugural, includes 70 floors topped by a column of energy-generating wind turbines. The tower is encased from top to bottom in a steel cabled netting that designers likened to cables on a suspension bridge like the Brooklyn Bridge. A broadcast antenna brings the structure's total height above 2,000 feet. The building includes 2.6 million square feet of commercial space. There will be 63 floors of office space capped by an indoor observation deck, a restaurant above that, and a vent space on top. The glass tower has a twisted shape which designers say is meant to echo the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor.

Skyray, rigid wing. Has anyone ever flown or seen one?
kevin922 replied to BravestDog's topic in Wing Suit Flying
one of the reason skysurfers stop skysurfing (besides the fact it is so dangerous) is because it is such a pain in the plane and an inconvenience to others (this is what some skysurfers have told me ) the skyray is 10 times the inconveniece in an airplane with a side door, I don't see how this will catch on. -
"they fuck you at the drivethrough!"

Ascent speed shouldn't matter. They should work just fine. neptune's you will want to set to special dive/manual. wtf?! crosspost? lol Um no, page 2 - turtlespeed raised a good point about equipment, though it really only affects neptunes :)
