  1. Here I am writing to you guys when I could be skydiving!!! (No offence). I so much wanted to jump today!!!!! Most of the guys jump on a Friday here in Dubai (but that's quad-biking day), so I was suppose to jump at 9 this morning....and OVERSLEPT!!! Wanted to do the afternoon jump (not a lot of loads on a Saturday in Dubai) - but my better half was feeling sick - so I had to give it a miss..... (It's about an 1.5 hours drive to the DZ) I guess there's always next Saturday - BUT I WANTED TO JUMP TODAY!!! Oh well, I hope the weather holds up for you guys. Blue skies & ....er..... lotsa beer & boobies!!!
  2. What do you mean.....I only have 12 jumps, and I'm an expert!! Well, an expert in knowing SHIT...hehehe (Sorry - the eveil twin took over again....really need to work on this dual personality shit!!)
  3. If you were closer, I would show you my BOOBIES... Happy Birthday!!!!!
  4. One of my personalities took over, and she's crazy!!! By the time I've realised what she's up to, we were already out the door.... But now I'm hooked too. Thank goodness for crazy multi-personalities.....hehehe

    Guys...

Absence does for love what wind does for a flame: it extinguishes the weak, and feeds the strong.

    Selfish

This is not the situation, but I would wanna keep jumping if there were ever such a situation. Why? Because I believe that when you choose to love someone - you choose to love everything about them - even if you don't understand it. For me the partner would be the selfish one....that's just my view. My situation is a little more tricky....let's just say for once I wanna do what my heart tells me without holding back for the fear of hurting someone else. Should I take the easy road and protect them, or should I tend to my needs, hurting them but potentially being happy as shit.

    Selfish

How do you decide when something is just plain selfish, or whether your own needs should come first - even if it means hurting the ones close to you?
  11. I don't know ANYTHING - just graduated from AFF, but here's what my JM advised me....I am 5'6 and weigh app 115lbs. Just ordered my first (beer!!!) rig...Specter2 170 with a PD 160 Reserve with a Mirage container and CYPRESS!!!!! Will never go without the cypress. Although, my first BOC Throw-out jump was with a friend's rig without a Cypress, go figure.... Cannot wait for my gear and hoping to do a lot of jumps before it arrives in May to be ready for the 170 (starting to downsize canopy slowly...jumping a 190 for the first (beer!!) time this weekend.) Life is for the Living!!!!

    why

Why?? For me the answer is simple...because I love it. Because it's a part of me, because it challenges and excites me. Because it fills me with a "happiness" you cannot describe to another soul - you have to experience it. Because the firts time I ever exited a plane - I felt free... Because for those few precious moments - I am free from all the tragedy life holds, I am happier than I can ever be walking the earth. Because every time on my way up I realize just how small I am and how precious life is - and how I owe it to myself to enjoy every second of it!!! Because nothing in this world comes close to that feeling. Because the biggest tragedy in this life is people who die when they are still alive. Because the alternative - never having that feeling again - terrifies me to death. Because it is who I am....Hell - you asked!!!! A quote by some clever dude (I think da Vinci) "For once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you long to return..."

    Howdy All

I've been very rude....I've been reading, laughing and enjoying the crap out of this site without properly introducing myself. Hi - I'm Mel - my friends call me crazy.... I fell in love with skydiving last year October when doing a tandem during my annual home leave to SA (that's South Africa)... I've been living in the Middle East for the past 5 years. Wanted to do the AFF course so desperately that I took of work in Jan and did my course in Namibia at one of the coolest DZ ever!!! Had the time of my life. When they first told me skydiving isn't a "sport" - it's a lifestyle, I didn't quite understand, but now I do.... I would never trade what I've gained through skydiving for anything!!! I've only done 12 jumps and is still shitscared every time that door opens, but as soon as I exit - I'm home.... I have met the most incredible people and have experienced the best times of my life and have bought my share of rounds already - and cannot imagine a life without skydiving anymore. Life is for the living!!!!!!! (Thanx Courteney...)
  18. Thanks a mill!!! I will let you know how the next jump went...
  19. Hi All! I completed the AFF course about 3 weeks ago. Pretty damn amazing. Only thing now is I jump with a jumpsuit without booties, and I struggle to keep a steady heading. I keep doing 180 turns....might be because I'm still a little nervous to do solo jumps. Any advise to correct the problem?????
  20. The dudes over there are the coolest ever!! They are extremely helpful and friendly, and they know their stuff. If there is one DZ you have to visit - this will be it!!!
