Sorry!!! Moerse besig by die werk vandag!!! Maar wat Rhino gese het!!! Sorry Girlfriend...(the English to follow is just because I'm scared of Medic....NOT!!) I know we should trust our gut feeling, but sometimes we think we want something so bad, that we actually listen to a "want" feeling, more than a gut feeling!! But Scratch is right, it is your life, but I really hope you realise love is suppose to be GOOD, it should make you feel good and fill your life with joy!! I can only tell you what I know, and trust me, my life is pretty much messed up too (Medic - u agree, right?) but I remember what true love should be like...yeah, sure it will have some ups & downs, but the ups faaaaaar outweigh the downs. It should come naturally - it shouldn't feel like you're giving up anything (although you do sacrifise - it's only natural...you are two individuals at the end of the day!!) But it should never make you feel bad about yourself or seem like work or hurt you. Girlfriend, there IS somebody out there that can make you feel like you own the world, that will treat you the way you deserve. And maybe I'm wrong (hell, look at my life!!!) but I do think you are making a mistake. I agree with Rhino - if you really still wanna see him, date him again. But remember that you are the most important person in your life, and we owe it to ourselves to be as happy as a pig in shit! If you can honestly tell yourself that this relationship is all you want from life and this is all the hapiness you want....then go for it. I received a mail from a friend of mine (living in Namibia) about the exact same subject...his words were harsh, but true. I wanted to be mad at him, but it made me realize how precious and short our time is. It is your decision, and if he makes you happy, then go for it!! But if he doesn't, cut away NOW....you don't realize how quickly the ground is appraching!!!

Not really, but I lost my shoe on my first hop 'n pop (Level 8)...Kinda went like this....jumped backwards, went unstable, knew the instructor failed me (for the first time!!) got mad at myself, and didn't arch!!! Started "tumbling" pretty bad, my left shoe came loose, cut my right foot (yes, there was some blood) then hit me against my head.....went "Oh f&*k - that must have been 5 seconds - PULL!!!) Pulled totally unstable and on my back at the time -and obviously had line twist. Had a stunning landing with one shoe on, and hid from my JM for some time (to allow him to get over the shock...yeah right) That night we had a one shoe party (nobody was allowed to wear two shoes) and watched the video to see where the shoe dropped. Went out and searched for it - and FOUND it!!!!!! What a night.....

In Jan this year - in Swakop!! Those guys are GREAT!!! (And not to mention sexy!!!) Had the time of my life. Don't think I've ever had so many Jagermeisters in my life!!!!! Do you know anybody in Swakop?

It's all been said...all that I can add is I feel your pain....or rather, I know how scary it looks. Good luck!!!!

This is fast becoming my home dz too....spend ALOT of time on this site..... I was just thinking this week - the dz where I jump now is great and all, but it has no vibe, no life (considering it is in the Middle East with NO alcohol - I guess it's not too bad). But when I think home dz - I think Namibia - where I did my AFF training. That place has LIFE and they adopted me as part of their family right away. I made the best friends ever, and still chat to them every day to find out who did what jump and what weird shit happened the night before at the party etc.... I won't stop jumping because the dz here has no "life" - but I miss my home dz soooooooooooooo much!!!

I will tell you what I tell myself when I'm sitting in the plane, scared shitless....anything worth having, won't just fall in your lap. The greatest achievements require hard work and risk. Hell, all the way up to altitude I wonder what the hell am I doing...but then the door opens and I jump.....no - it's not always easy - still struggle to keep a heading at times, but I love it, and I know it will come right...I just need to keep going. If we have to give up every time something doesn't go smooth or is difficult - we'll never achieve anything!!!! Just take small steps at a time...practise makes perfect!!! If you love it, if it's part of who you are - NEVER give up.

Wish I knew about this site before I ordered my equipment a few weeks ago. Did my AFF Training with Skymaster230, did one jump with Predator 210 and I am jumping a Navigator 260 at the moment. I remembered that when I did the flare test in the sky with the 210 I thought "Aaaaaahh!!"....Totally different from the student 230. My exit weight (with full gear) is 140lbs and I just ordered a Sabre2 170 with a PD 160 reserve (Mirage container). I am planning to do at least 8 jumps with a 190 before my equipment arrives. This should be cool, right???
-
You have my sympathy....on my third jump I also misjudged the height (looked down) and slammed into the ground. Started to flare at about 20-25 feet (according to my instructor) - realized my mistake, but just kept the flare going. Didn't break anything, but hurt my knee pretty bad. Had a bruise for weeks afterwards and during the rest of the AFF course (completed it in one week) my knee gave me some problems (couldn't bend it properly etc.) But I have to admit when I was at the DZ the other day, I felt "better" seeing another student doing the same thing....

This is my first back-flip....

I take my hat off to you....I finished my second year majoring in psychology & sociology part-time, and am just too damn lazy to finish the rest!!! I think I averaged about 3 -4 hours sleep a night during exam times (why do we always leave everything for the last minute??). As far as advise go...I have none. I earn a good salary, and with that came the wisdom that money can never make you happy. That's why I'm seriously considering giving it all up, and moving to a place where I'll never earn what I do now, but I'll get to jump in a beautiful place with people that I really like. At the end of the day, life is not about working, but making the most of it and being happy!! Work only to be able to live & jump.....that's my new motto in life!!!!

Sorry - I had problems with my browser while attaching the photo - here ya go!!!
