  1. That is freaky, I rememebr a landing I witnessed as a kid (again I was just a kid) where the jumper pulled left and the darn thing went right and he smacked right into Buddy Craig's van, not pretty, must have been a single Keel. Were they not used as reserves at one point? Was it the Russians who did that?
  2. Jay, if its a single keel and orange, it most likey used to be mine. I gave it to John Stanford when I quit then when Story took over his rigging business he ended up with all that stuff. Oh yeah and Mike, you taught me how to pack that same canopy at Decatur. I am glad you told me that, I have wanted to buy that thing from John for a few years, now I know what he has in it
  3. I have checked the contacts in here with no luck. There was one in houston but since Verizon was kind enough to delete my address book last year I have not been able to recover it. Does anyone have any contact info? The one listed in this forum have not resonded, not even sure if it exist.. thanks J Just saw some other threads, but still not enough info.
  4. Time magazine just did a story on him, he is alive and kicking , living in Redding, CA. He's got a new album coming out soon. JerryBaumchen Hmm wonder if Muskogee would be willing to bring him back? I will ask.. He probably would not appreciate everyone laughing at the beginning of his song though. "Okie from Muskogee"
  5. Hi Tom You will kick yourself when I tell you the name. "Fat Jacks"
  6. I thought thats how you knew your Bartender wasnt mad at you,.... when handing you the B Mary

  8. So your the guy I cuss when I cant get the damn cotten out or shove it in too far trying. Then I just grab another beer so maybe the headache will go away!! rat bastard! Tell me its fresh cotton
  9. I will find out. Come on Mike, its still a single skin triangle, just jump it! Just wear a cutaway harness under your rig and go for it. Now you have me curious, will track him down.
  10. OMG Ok there is one country song I like!!! Good thing that was in 1969, otherwise it would all be a lie! Especially after say 74 when we got there? Ok Jim, what the hell do you do all day? You never stop amazing me with your comments? Can I have your job? So, is ol'e Haggard alive, he must be a part of the Music Hall of Fame in Muskogee, we could toss him a few while he starts the song
  11. YES I don't know! W H O ? ! YES! Guess Who!!
  12. I hope we are better organized in 2008 than it was in 82.
  13. Are you kiddiing me??!!! I just want the stage, and its not all country..... cant stand that depressing music. Yeah they also play western both types of music DOOH! Ok ok It's just my opinion
  14. Dont have one but got to jump one. Ted Strong was throwing a July 4th (2004 I believe)party in his back yard. He has a lake so I dediced to grab my water rig and I borrowed the old red white and blue canopy. Took it home and realized that I hadnt packed one since I was ten years old, 37 at the time. So i flat packed it like a square, got out over universal studios (nothing but parking lott below) at 3,000' it streamered, I looked up and said to my self, yup thats exactly how I packed it. It was fun to fly but I noticed that keeping a bit of toggle pressure made me feel better. The nose tended to try and flip under in full flight. I landed in the lake for my first water jump. Ted see's me getting out of the boat and helps me unload. ( I believe the percentage rate to openings was like 70%?) He said J I cant believe you jumped that damn thing (Ted never cusses). I said "what? Ted you guys were the ones to fly it all the time", he said :"Yeah and we threw the f%$%^g things in the closet" I said "OH, yeah I guess you did" I have a bad ankle so there was no way I would land it, well maybe if there are some peas, but would love to jump one again. Go for it! Its a great one to log. Try John Story not sure if his is double keel but you might give him a shout, I think his is orange.
  15. I thought ( dare I say remember ) that the rings team used Vectors. You're right. The cover of ParaGear #54 (attached) shows the rings jumpers all had Vectors. (The photo credit says "Kent, Crabtree, Sanders" - somehow their photos must have been pooled or shared.) The Racer thing might have been just for the CRW / accuracy folks. Who knows. All with ROL's, now those were some days, today they are great for holding that Coors Light I have one of the Coors canopies some how Bob Chaffin got his hands on it, and I took it from him, still want to jump it some day. Fantastic job!! Will probably be the best demo ever! Maybe we will get another chance someday. Perhaps when tunnel flying becomes a part of the Olympics.
  16. Are you kiddiing me??!!! I just want the stage, and its not all country..... cant stand that depressing music.
  17. Fat Jacks is the building. You need to get the story on the CPI sticker, I am sure there is a great story there.
  18. It tried to go on tour two years ago, went to Dallas flew one load, then grounded due to radio problems. Was to go to SF the folowwing month but I put it on hold due to rain. Then it went to WFFC, think it did 10 loads and none of the jumpers made it back to the DZ. From what I was told it was a new owner and new pilot learning. If I am not mistaken that is the first DC-3 flying jumpers and that would make it the oldest "still flying jumpers", if it does again. Rick Moti from Sun Path has some great stories, he was the mechanic for years. I told him it went back on tour two years ago and he said dammit, I just tossed the mechanical records away after the Hurricanes in Florida. He got hit pretty hard from them. Hope they get it on tour again. Hmm maybe I will go see if its there, Phat Annie is in Sherman as well. I am only about 45 minutes from both now. J
  19. Only two years? I hear ya Chris. Try the last 5 or better yet 40. But like I have said in other posts, I would rather go thru the pain of losing someone than to have never have met them at all. So I expect to have plenty of tears left for all. After Egon, I learned alot, then my trip to Jamaica added to what I learned. i try to judge people less and have learned to value the time I have with the people around me, friends or not. Well I have always said I wanted to pass the same day I arrived, and for the second year in a row I did not get to do my first base jump(not that it would kill me) on my Bday so I am still here( did do my first wingsuit jump om my 39th, that scared the heck out of me). I must say I was nervous with this being the 40th and the old saying careful what you wish for.... Not that I wish to go on my bday, just always thought it different. I know its weird but hey I cant even spell my name right Embrace the memories, love em all, and enjoy the time we have with each other, especially us older ones eh?
  20. Doing my best to make it happen> along with a mini airshow and I have also contacted a couple of major bands. Had dinner with the President of the Music Hall of Fame In Mukogee that thought he could help with nightly concerts for all 10 days!
  21. Yes Muskogee Ok. The CPi sticker was left on the window of the building on Sabre street. It has been there at least 15 years ago, my guess is probably many more. This building was a the "hangout" for the jumpers after competitions. Cant beleive no one has named it yet. It is the only sticker I saw on the building, they even opened it up for me when I was there iin July. Pretty cool being the fisrt jumper to walk back in there after 15 years.
  22. Its not about the canopy. I gots bad data, but we still dont have the buildong named? Someone has to remember it. Here's the inside of it, as it is now. The Airport will have it ready for us by June according to them. Yeeee Haaaaw
