  1. The shot after in that series is actually better, its so close you cant see the nose or the tail of the jet. Its funny, I just got another copy of the one you linked too just a week ago. The story I heard was the pilot was fired for leaving too early and the CEO has a blown up version in his office? Not sure how reliable the source is, but what a shot eh?
  2. Don't the folk at The Ranch have something like that they use for a game of "Bingo" of sorts... ??? In all seriousness though... my experience at a few different DZs is after a particularly hidious spot where folks are spread all over hell's half acre, manifest of the Load Organizer will do a head count to make sure everyone is back safe. Problem is, on those 90-some % good dives where the spot is good we tend not to count noses after every jump and from time to time someone goes missing... I've seen this happen... but fortunately it's always been the scenario where they just come walking back in awhile later a bit pissed that no one sent the truck to get them after they landed out or chased a cutaway or what not. I know that bingo of which you speak....
  3. Congrats!!! That has to be a great feeling!! beautiful family!! Now break out the packing matts for him..LOL

  7. Im afraid to post my guess about it. I tried to contact Don in regards to joining forces to make some thing happen, he must be real busy with all that is going on. But I will say we will announce our dates real soon and looking at your post it would be of interest to you. Hopefully I will announce this week. Be well J
  8. Played a joke on my rigger once, walk around with a stack of signed blank data cards....."Repacks for sale $30.00, rigger Jons signature on them!!"" He was packing a main at the time. He got a kick out of it... Thought I would have sold a few...not a one though
  9. There will be a good one on the east coast this year, designed specifically with someone with your experience. This year it will have a bit of a twist to it. Hope you can make it. J Be Safe
  10. You really do have too much time on your hands. Maybe if you stop doing shit like this and get to work you could let us know about Skyfest '08. As for me, I have no idea how many DZ.comers I have met. Someone start a list if you have met me. That info was from my registration survey forms, now on an excell spreadsheet. Actually Ive made a decision just waiting on some other numbers to come back and I will announce. Are you gonna show? Maybe we can do a DZ.com night, of course there may be allot of Spaniards there too. I have no idea what Im talking about.

  14. You might try the paragear catalog, I believe the chart is in the back. If not Aerodyne, or UUPT (RWS) may have it as well.
  15. Go for it Cora! Change the oil, rotate the tires and check the air pressure and get on it.. Change oil again when you return or do it on the road. Stock up on Red Bull, sign up for the hotel points program, and take the camera. Throw an extra blanket, gloves and water and maybe misc. tools in case you break down in the cold. The things you will see on the road.....let me tell ya....LOL keep us updated on how it goes!! be safe
  16. Oh I dont know about 7 hills, not much to speak of.....Just my 50ish something DZ to jump at, took off at one location, landed my first stack there in the peas.....Only being my 2nd crew jump in 6 years which was my 7th total....Its Alright! But boy they can drink!!! And that nurse lady wheeehhh!!!
  17. You know there was a problem when we lost altitude....uggh oh here is one for EP's....... Due to the procedure changing from the 60's to the 90"s when I finally got back in for good, I could never remember the correct order or which handles. I now it sounds silly today, but go back to shot and 1/2's, belly mounts that I always played with as a kid....It really wasnt that easy for me when it became 'standard" as it is today. So: "Right Now! Left Last!" of course muscle memory has a bigger play now than it did when I came up with it but...... I have taught that to a few who have come back and told me that it worked for them. Now, some day I am sure I will get to use it for real...
  18. I didnt read all the post here and I dont mean to sound, well rude or inconsiderate. But...... An uncurrent skydiver is a dead skydiver. yes that is a "broad" statement but it really applies to someone with very few jumps. From 1984, to 1999 I made 159 jumps.....I am very lucky and I believe the only reason Im here today is because I was practically born on a dz. I have been in many situations during that time where I should not have walked away....one time, I didnt, I live in pain to this day because of it. I got to the point where i considered myself an expert student...So I understand completely the mentality of a new jumper. You will learn more, advance quicker, and stay safer if you commit the first (at least) 100 jumps, you, your family and friends will appreciate it too... Jump and jump often.... go ahead bash on folks......but you wont change my mind on this, been here too long and seen more than my share of BS accidents due to this and this alone. Im quilty of it, just got lucky.
  19. Bogus.... I've seen more then a few land off the DZ when they got out right over the top! Ed Its funny, Ive been saying that for about 4 years, and finally one day in Z hills as a few of them were loading I said it....One man looked at me, paused.....then said " We dont have to" thought that was a pretty good comeback.
  20. Howard, I do believe you are correct about the counter weight. I would bet that is what it is. My father and John Burke did the same thing, I think we still have the helmet, I know we still have the Nikon he used for still shots, damn thing still works. he had it mounted on his white Bell with the box on the opposite side as counter weight,
  21. Dave you have seen some of what we have on the JSM DVD, that was shot from 66-68. The camera was carried most of the time but Ive seen some of the footage where it was mounted. Remember, its the footage with Raquel Welch at 22 yo when Jerry helped with her movie Fathom? But I am sure that was not the first, and it was not video but I think it was 16mm? That was Jerry Schrimsher and John Burke. BTW you ole farts had balls of steel back then!! I salute you all!! Crazy f$%#s
  22. 3 tickets in 7 years isnt bad for someone who spent 5 of those on the road for 6 months at a time traveling across the country. Its rare that I speed any more a and this last one was a mistake, didnt even know I was. Came out of a U trun on the interstate service road, 48 in a 40. He was an ass about it too. So I wont complain. Plus my new Murano doesnt help, that baby is easy to be cruising and not know it, it never feels like you are doing the speed.
  23. With the deferred program you pay the court fees by mail, dont get a ticket in 6 months in that county and it goes away...But for some reason dallas county wont let you mail it in? the others do, bummer. So now I have to go to court to get the program, which the court date isnt till July so it should work out ok....Just would rather get it over with now....Otherwise, yup screw it, pay the fine and not worry about it...
