okokokokokok Actually I sent James a PM requesting updated info. He is usually on top of things so I expect an answer today. He has had his hands full with a lot of things so I am sure he is knocking things off his list. Last I heard the power company was sending a report and necessary work to be done. We are still working on a backup plan with generators. I have reached out to a couple of people, does anyone know how to invite the Army or military to bring one of those massive generators, they can set up a recruiting booth in exchange. So to sum it up, no, no word yet. What/Whos next? Edited because I just saw the paddeling!!! ummm well, can it be done in freefall! I have slapped many ass's in freefall
-
Id prefer to just slap her ass in freefall!! Yeah the two that the AAD fired ended up with the 2 try then silver speech, pretty scary stuff. Never thought about teaching them to wipe their ass, DOOH!

Thought I would share this. It may almost sound silly to some but it was taught to me many years ago so hear it is. As a previous rep for Sun Path for almost four years and my experience in the sport I have encountered folks saying they cant reach the BOC. Two tried till their AAD fired and landed safely (which created other conversations). I usually found this to be the case with older jumpers especially those with older rigs who finally purchased a new one. As we know rigs have gotten much shorter over the years but unless one has some sort of injury, I believe there are very few that truly cant reach it. Its mostly about how you reach IMO. I find that we tend to try and reach with just the wrist or just the elbow, if that makes sense. And there might be a "mind set" as well from many previous attempts. I had to teach many how to relearn their reach. I will try to explain it here. Here is what I would do to get people to be able to reach. Place the palm of your hand on the center of your chest, then slide it over towards your armpit, and try to get the top side of your hand in the pit. From there slide down the side of your body while doing so push your hand towards the center of your back. By the time you get to the center almost everyone is way above and deeper "in" than where the boc would ever be. I found that once they realized that they can reach much further than actually required the "mind set" was gone. Then we would practice getting to that same spot except from the box position (reversing it basically). Sometimes we even took it to the floor in an arch, or if necessary with a rig. Almost all of us can reach our armpits or scratch the center of our backs, if we can do that, we should be able to reach any boc. There are many other factors of course that may cause the rig to shift out of reach but that usually is not because its too short or high on our backs. I realize we all are different with joint problems, age previous injuries etc, but so far everyone I have discussed this with has went on with no problems. Just sharing what has worked with others, not directed towards the incident or judging anyones abilities or disabilities. Hope this helps someone else as well. And of course, if this doesnt help and one still cant reach it and nothing else can, then A - get a longer container, or B- take up another sport that you can fulfill the physical requirements.

Ok boys, girls, kids, or whatever we are today lets keep this thread clean and nice like good boyscouts are supposed to be. SkyFest is about giving back to the sport and many folks donate their time and money to make it continue. We like it like that. LOL 'Now be a good scout and go eat a brownie or something. LOL Hope everyone can make it this year, it will be a good one. Thank you for your support J

WFFC asking -- would you go to WFFC 2008?

Dawn, Thank you! That means a lot. I do believe there is a way to go big again, but Im not telling how. No really, there are so many factors that Don had to consider and the numbers are just not there. No one (speaking of customers)really has a right to complain that the WFFC has not happened in two years. its the customers that didnt show that assisted its closing. Im not saying its their fault at all, there are other major factors that played a role in it. Personally I dont believe the economy is as much to blame as many say. Its a new era in events, and unless you have something like Couch Freaks,Richmond or Lost Prairie where there are fixed expenses (existing DZ or property that doesnt have to be rebuilt every year) it just isnt going to happen. Of course SkyFest and Summerfest can stand proudly next to those two in numbers. As much as I love SkyFest and what it stands for, we are only 8 years old and Summerfest I believe is only 6. The three have withstood the test of time with consistent enough numbers to sustain the event for many years. I tip my hat to those events and I hope that SF will hit 30 -40 years running, actually my real dream is for the Scholarship Program to go Nationwide! So multiple jumpers at every DZ in the country can take advantage of the continued education it offers. Ok back to the WFFC. Not trying to sound egoistical but I approached WFFC with an idea this year and last. For whatever reasons it never really made it to the table. Yet in 2006 I was one of the persons on the committee to revamp the event, but before we had a chance to get going it was canceled. If i dont get to try my idea with the WFFC, I promise I will try it on my own. I hope that it can continue and and be reborn. Especially since I am no longer a MFR rep, maybe I can go and not have to work the darn thing straight from SF anymore. -
Dammit you beat me to it!! Ole Granpa BOB!! God I miss him. Hey Jerry I have had a few drinks with Dennis Dorris the last few weeks. Remember he and Bob owned the Up N Down Shop together?
-
Oh you did? I dont rememebr that????!!!!DOOH! My dad was a smart one with that. After his death I read his 13 logbooks, he would always put little notes, but not too personal but just enough. Like J wrecked the car, or broke a leg. But before he married my mother he would log his jumps as "jumped with HER" it was in there since 1959. My parents didnt meet till 1962. So there were many entries saying jumped with HER. Once they got married it was jumped witrh Sherry! Thought it was pretty smart!

Discharge is a different way of screen printing. It is the first stage prior to laying the ink. It removes the original dye from the clothing, thus taking it back to its original color. Then when the ink is applied it becomes a part of the fabric (like sublimation) not a layers of ink. This does a few things. Makes it a softer feel, allows it to breathe, ads value to the apparel and last much longer than normal screen printing. This is not a new technique it has just been improved in the last couple of years. It is very fashion friendly and it is being pushed by the fashion leaders. And its environmentally safe! Its prety cool to watch the process too. It also allowws for the bright colors to really "pop" especially on darker clothing. There, does that help?
