Are you a risk taker? Do you need clinical STD services? LOL

My DZ uses something like THIS, but older. All we do is use the belt clip to attach the radio to the chest strap and a big rubber band to hold the bottom of the belt clip. If the radio is turned all the way up, the students can hear it just fine. Very simple, works fine for us. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." WOW!!! It's gone up to ~$3.25 or so for diesel around here (US gallon) and we think that's high. Gasoline (petrol to you guys over there) just dropped a couple cents and is running a little over $3 (again, the 4 quart US gallon) "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Considering that everyone else going to the wedding had to drive through it too (I'm guessing the wedding was in the Northeast), I don't think that God is against just you. He may have been trying to stop the wedding. Or it could be that someone was dumb enough to think that scheduling a wedding for the last week of December was a good idea "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." It may not exist. As in the conversations never took place. At least not in flight. The plane was on the ground at Sea-Tac for some time. It's entirely possible the necessary conversations took place prior to takeoff on a different frequneecy than they used for normal ATC comm traffic. Purely a guess on my part, but think about it. The FBI, ATC and the airline could easily have had these discussions over a landline. Also, the options were fairly limited if they were going to follow the instructions Cooper gave. As Sluggo has made clear, V23 was the only real option. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

I sometimes wear progressives when I jump. They don't make the slightest difference. Ok, thanks. I got my first pair recently, and I'm still getting used to them. I like them for some stuff, hate them for other stuff. I haven't jumped with them yet (I don't need to so I don't really plan to). A quick search of "Flare Timing" found THIS thread. Lots of info there. Timing the flare is hard early on because you haven't developed the "sight picture" you need in order to properly judge your height above ground. And you only do it once per jump, so you don't get a whole lot of practice at it. I don't think your progressive glasses (lineless bifocals, right?) make much difference, but you might try it with single vision lenses to see if it makes much difference (presuming you can see well enough with them to read your altimeter) "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." not saying we do. I understand why it's hard for you to accept. but the reality is exactly what I'm telling you. check weather almanacs, ask others from MN. the following is a url to a fundraiser in which people jump thru a hole in the ice every year. http://www.plungemn.org/ just as i won't attempt to tell you how skydiving works, you shouldn't try to tell me how the cold affects people. my mother was a RN and I have at times been a certified nursing assistant for certain jobs. while I'm no DR. I am qualified to make the claims I have about cold weather and it's affects here in MN. I've lived in Wisconsin for nearly 40 years. Quade is right. It's a simple matter of physiology. We may get used to the cold, but we don't really adapt to it. Any "adaptation" that I may develop each winter goes away over the summer anyway. I've done the Polar Bear Jump (into Lake Michigan at Sheboygan) a couple times. The water is around 35 and the air temp has been as low as single digits. A couple of the real hardcore guys (one is a good friend of mine) play in the water for about 20 min or so. They are showing the beginning signs of hypothermia by the time they get out. I know a lot of guys who work outside in below freezing temps. NONE of them go in "just jeans and flannel shirts". Good thermal underwear, lined jeans, sweatshirts, lined bibs, ect, ect. They wear a lot of layers that they can peel and replace as they need to. Below 50, wet and at night (it's absolutely amazing how much difference being in the sun makes in colder temps), dressed the way Cooper was (raincoat or not) he had at best a few hours before he was in serious trouble. Add in any injuries (shock is a killer under those circimstances) and he would have been dead well before dawn. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Ooooohhhh. I like that. For me: Less procrastination, but I probably won't get to that until later. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

In your gear bag. I wanted someone with more credibility to say if first. Either there or in the hands of a friend to get footage of your landing for critique by an instructor. It really has no business on your head at this point. Read the "Stickies" in the Photog & Vid forum for a lot of reasons why. Or as JohnRich said, ignore the advice and do what you want. Obama applauds Eagles for giving Vick second chance
wolfriverjoe replied to ridestrong's topic in Speakers Corner
But you are OK then with him having part in murdering his and others dogs then? No. But he was tried, convicted and punished for the crimes he committed. And AFAIK, he is still on supervision (parole/probation) and is a convicted felon with all the baggage that includes. I think that the sentence was a little light, but that's not my decision. He is saying and doing all the right things. He has apparently learned from his mistakes. And yes, I call them mistakes. He grew up in a culture where that sort of behavior is acceptable. He didn't realize that he wasn't in that culture anymore although he should have. Search "dogfighting" to find out how widespread that horrible practice is. He is under a bright enough spotlight that any further transgressions will not stay hidden. If he is sincere and genuine in his rehabilitation, he does deserve his second chance. If not, I believe he will pay the price. The American public is great on 2nd chances, but not so much on 3rd ones. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." stray cat and bored enough to post my first poll ever

Don't kick it out, it will more than likely die. If you aren't willing to find it a home or give it a home, take it to a shelter. You might put the word out to your neighbors. Although it was more than likely dumped, it is possible that it was a Chrismas pet that escaped. If you are willing to give it a try, there are various techniques to intorduce it to your current housemates. Basically you keep them in seperate areas, but switch them back and forth so they can get used to the other's scent. After a short while, they will be curious enough about who is making the scent to forget about the territory issues. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Help from Gath helmet owners

Anyone else getting excited about the upcoming NFL playoffs?

Umm, wow... Look at her post again. Thursday morning. I think that it's really cool how many slots are still open. There are games coming up this weekend that actually matter! -

Who cares if that's normal. It sure as hell is a good thing, right, guys? I have to say the video reminded me of one of those good-news/bad-news jokes . . . There's a magic high-speed beer machine that never runs out or foams over= the good news The bad news= It only serves Bud. I did a lot of googleing on this thing- it is not just a Bud thing. All you have to do is follow the link under the video. http://www.grinonindustries.com/dispensers.htm As blasphemous as it is to say, it dispenses beverages other than beer too. It's an interesting principle. The hole in the bottom of the cup is surrounded by a ring of steel. The "seal" is just a round fridge magnet. They even have a way to put advertising on the magnet, which a lot of people would keep. I'm curious how much the cups cost though, "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

This is more of a S&T question, but it's up to the mods to move it and I'm not one SIM 5.2 covers recurrency, but it only talks about a 30 day layoff. The upper midwest presents it's own set of challenges, winter layoffs being the worst. I do a coach jump at the beginning of each season. Usually a short delay and a high opening so that I have some extra time under canopy to "knock the rust off". It has always been more of an "Oh yeah, this is how it is", and after a couple seconds of freefall and a few turns and practice flares under canopy most of it comes right back. I still take it very easy and conservatively for the first few sessions, and my "wind tolerance" is pretty low for some time. Safety Day is a good place to start. I think it's more valuable to those of us who have the long winter layoffs as opposed to the folks in Florida and California who can jump all year. I'm guessing that your instructors will have you do some sort of "review jump", based on what you have already shown you can do. Plan on a comprehensive review on the ground, to include EPs in a hanging harness. I would think that where they put you in the air would depend on how well you did on the ground. I doubt that you'd have to go all the way back to the beginning unless you have forgotten everything "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Unfortunately, self-evaluation is rarely objective. I can think I did a great job on a jump, but going over video with a competent instructor will point out what and where I did wrong. That's why competent coaching is vital. Many here have posted video of a jump saying something to the effect of "Look How Good I Did" only to have all the errors pointed out (and there are often some very serious errors that the jumper hadn't realized he had done even though he had reviewed the footage). And if you click on the "In reply to" button on the warning post, you will see what the warning is for. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." It seems to me that the faster I fell in love, the shorter it lasted. Love at first sight was almost always simple infatuation that died fairly soon. Attraction developing into friendship and then into love has a mcuh better chance of enduring. Sometimes the love even lasts longer than the relationship. Less than that actually. The Bible specifically mentions the flocks of sheep having lambs present. Although the Bethlehem area isn't far enough north to have "winter" as we think of it here, it does get colder that time of year. And lambs in December are pretty unlikely. I figured that little paradox out in about 6th grade (I was raised Catholic) and asked my parents about it. My dad, who was a devout Catholic but didn't blindly believe in the more ridiculous aspects, explained about Saturnalia (which is Dec 25th) and the politics of bringing the pagans into the fold. "Wow, so one of your most important holidays is the 25th of December, when you can see for certain that the sun is returning and the days are getting longer again? What a coincidence, that's the day our savior was born!" "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

If you shoot someone in the US, there's a pretty good chance that you will be arrested. Handcuffed, booked and thrown in jail. You may or may not face charges. You may or may not be convicted. A lot of that depends on the attitudes of the local PD and prosecutor. Look at the gun possesion case in New Jersey for an example of that. It will not be fun, simple or cheap. I was taught that if I pull a gun out in public and point it at someone, plan on being arrested and spending $5k in legal bills. If I actually pull the trigger, it will cost more like $20k. My life is worth that, but my car stereo isn't. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
